To want the fireworks to stop now?

They started here at about 2pm (yes, really!) and haven't stopped since. My cats are hiding and won't eat. I have a thumping headache from the noise and just want some quiet for a bit. They started at the same time yesterday and didn't stop until 11pm ISH.

More fucking fireworks. Another night of a stressed out dog and stressed out owners. It's been nearly 2 weeks now.

InThePinkScarf · 07/11/2024 18:58

Been awful round my way. Weekend just gone, horrendous. Going on until 3AM. Then really bad on bonfire night.
My cat is terrified and I have jumped out of my skin a few times.
They need to make it so it's professional displays only. We are meant to be an animal loving country yet look what we do to them year in year out. I find it hard enough losing sleep due to them and the general annoyance but I know it's much worse for animals.

Weefreetiffany · 08/11/2024 09:38

Not had any fireworks here since Tuesday. Not a peep.

But the “i don't need to pick up my dogs poo because the fallen leaves will hide it” season is in full swing unfortunately!

daffodilandtulip · 08/11/2024 13:16

We had them again until way past midnight last night. Thursday night two nights after bonfire night is not a logical time for a display!

LineRunnerReturns · 09/11/2024 07:23

Fireworks started up again here yesterday evening from 18.25 hours till late.

Firework season started mid October.

Fully expecting them tonight as well. Possibly tomorrow.

All these people setting them off are breaching the Council’s rules & regs, but there’s no enforcement because the enforcement team don’t work at night any more because of central government cuts.

And if you report them the next day it’s hard to pinpoint an exact address, give names etc if it’s ‘in the next street’ or ‘behind my road’, and so the enforcement team can’t open a case anyway without evidence.

My dog pissed himself again in the hall last night, during the night. Too scared to go out. A 13 year old dog whose been house trained since an 8 week old puppy. That's how scared he is.

User135644 · 09/11/2024 18:18

What kind of absolute moron is still setting fireworks off now?

Lots and lots here again tonight.

But don't worry... it's only a few days

MrsPringledusts · 09/11/2024 18:34

More fireworks here tonight - but hey - everyone's having such fun. Unless you're suffering from PTSD, have animals, small children, etc

arinya · 09/11/2024 18:52

They started here last Wednesday and still going tonight. The massive boom type of fireworks tonight that some dickhead has in their poky back garden. Utterly tedious. This modern trend of hyping every seasonal event to the heights of tacky competitiveness and then dragging it out until everyone is bored to tears and ever bit of joy it had is long gone. Utterly tedious.

PassingStranger · 09/11/2024 19:25

More again tonight.

Sarah2891 · 09/11/2024 19:34

Every damn night they've gone off here. The loudest of the lot tonight. Morons.

RichardMarxisinnocent · 09/11/2024 19:51

More again here tonight. I am so fed up of spending my evenings feeling anxious and on edge about when the next bang will be. But I'm a fun sponge for feeling like this and being scared of them so none of the people letting them off will give a shit about me.

SplendidUtterly · 09/11/2024 19:52

Just starting again here.

Copernicus321 · 09/11/2024 20:23

In Sussex, bonfire and fireworks are a bit of a thing from beginning of September until end of November.

LineRunnerReturns · 09/11/2024 23:09

We've had fireworks again since the early evening.

They woke up next door's 12 month old baby about an hour ago with some massive booms and now he won't settle, and the parents are frayed and arguing, poor buggers.

TofuTart · 09/11/2024 23:16

I love fireworks. It's still technically Bonfire weekend (when the 5th falls midweek it's fair game)
So last weekend and this weekend I'm like suck it up..,

Is 14 nights of fireworks ok? Is that still suck it up territory?

It's a gender reveal here apparently, they're finding it hilarious that everyone is complaining on the local FB page

Yes. It's November. I'm not getting wound up about fireworks going off at the beginning of November.

TofuTart · 10/11/2024 01:13

K0OLA1D · 05/11/2024 21:32

Ah so everyone deserves it then

Nobody's said that though, have they.
I'm obviously not the other poster but I think they meant dogs get anxious, not just over fireworks.
Why do some dogs full of anxiety get pandered to (for want of a better word) but others don't?

RichardMarxisinnocent · 10/11/2024 17:18

FFS. First fireworks of today are going off here.

I feel for you

Bollocksmorelike · 10/11/2024 19:11

It’s the ninth evening of fireworks for us. I genuinely don’t understand how people think it’s ok. If your actions are guaranteed to cause someone (child, horse, bird, adult, deer, it’s an endless list ) extreme distress, why would you do it? It baffles me tbh.
And the argument that some kids enjoy it so everyone else’s suffering is excusable. What are we teaching our kids? Considerate adults grow from considerate kids, surely it’s way more important for kids to understand why it’s not ok to let off fireworks that will frighten others, because we always consider others. That’s a better lesson than telling them others don’t matter, so f**! them, we’ll do as we please.
