Most states can be called before voting starts. States flipping are usually unlikely once votes start coming in. It comes down to the population in each county. The ones too close to accurately call will be leaning one way or another until enough votes are counted to really say.

the economy did well enough during his last term that i think people are hoping his policies will again help with the cost of living crisis.

enough people feel they were better off under his presidency, that they are willing to vote for him again. this from very average income american friends and family.
