... won't be so exciting - Kamala will scrape through and Trump will moan and then back down?

Can't see a thread on this, but if there is, please do tell me x

I truly hope Kamala Harris scrapes in. Another four years of fuckwitted Trump really doesn't bear thinking about. I'm not confident though. It really does seem too close to call.

If Kamala Harris does win 🤞 then I think it is a given that Trump will kick off big time and claim that the election was rigged.

God, I desperately hope you’re right! If he loses, do we think he’ll wait in the wings again? (I mean, after not taking it lying down, obviously!)

Watching the English news this morning, one reporter suggested that if Trump wins, he’ll hand Ukraine over to Putin, then China will feel at liberty to take Taiwan and Trump will stick huge tariffs on everything, including oil, as America appears to set prices, and what will happen in Iran, given how much oil goes through there? It is, as @AnneLovesGilbert says, when America sneezes. I was very invested when he got in last time. This time, I’m just scared, frankly.

What, so you are saying that the majority of Americans are stupid, because they don’t agree with your views? Because if he wins, it’s down to a majority vote.

Not at all , I think they are stupid voting for a criminal who encouraged a riot when he lost last time .

LetsChaseTrees · 05/11/2024 17:33

Trump will moan and then back down

No, I don’t agree with this. And it’s not just him you have to consider, it’s his supporters. A hardcore of whom are absolutely batshit.

Out of interest did you vote for Clinton? I recall the dress stain and the 'I did not' speech. Sexual assaults on a subordinate who to this day can't obtain employment seems quite criminal to me.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 05/11/2024 17:35

I think either way, there's going to be a whole world of shit and innocent people caught in the crossfire.

If Kamala wins, then there's the same sort of people who stormed the Capitol Building to deal with.

If Trump wins, then there's a lot of payback going to be meted out, both officially and from a sense that he's won and therefore the sort of behaviour that those who stormed the Capitol Building will think is absolutely their right to do.

I definitely wouldn't want to be out there over the coming weeks.

Hopefully, it's a Kamala Harris win, though.

MumOfOneAllAlone · 05/11/2024 17:35

BruceAndNosh · 05/11/2024 17:23

Whatever happens, Trump will say he won.
I hope he's wrong!

Yeah, this is guaranteed

No it isn't. He got 46.1% of the popular vote in 2016 - less than Hillary Clinton. Less than 20% of the population actually voted for him.

OnTheBounce · 05/11/2024 17:36

I'm more invested than previously, as I honestly don't have a strong sense of who will win, and can't help feeling uneasy about the possibility of violence and/or another assassination attempt.

Didimum · 05/11/2024 17:36

I have a feeling Trump will win. But to be honest I’ve lost capacity to care too much.

So because a random unnamed reporter ‘suggested’ if Trump wins, he will hand Ukraine to Russia, you are going to take it as gospel? That’s a batshit suggestion, and wouldn’t happen. America might be a big player in world politics, but even Trump wouldn’t have the power to do this without input from NATO, and other world leaders.

Floralnomad · 05/11/2024 17:25

I hope Trump loses but having watched a fair amount of the coverage I’ve come to the conclusion that there are some very stupid Americans and I have an awful feeling he may win .

Kamala Harris Waiting GIF by Election 2020

He's got a lot of supporters - I always wonder what exactly it is that he's done for them, but they're there

The world will keep spinning - although I fear what he'll do to abortion rights

I think he'll kick off, back down and then vow to never stand again, and dedicate his time to bashing America to anyone who'll listen 😄😄

I also think his son will be the the next target and he'll get behind him

Trump can understand many people and communicate with most people, his language is quite simple, it also comes across as genuine (agree with him or not) whereas Harris has an odd speech pattern, I assume she is using NLP or something with the odd repeated sound bites.

EasternStandard · 05/11/2024 17:43

Feels strangely calm now all the campaigning is over, I can't imagine it kicking off but I guess we'll see

ssd · 05/11/2024 17:44

I really hope Harris wins but i think Trump will win. Sort of like the brexit vote here.

Witchlite · 05/11/2024 17:44

I wonder how much Trump’s need to win is aligned to the chance of jail time? Will everything kick off and Trump will secure a general pardon to calm things down?

I just hope KH wins. Please!

TheFrendo · 05/11/2024 17:45

The betting market has Trump at 61% v Harris at 39%. The market has correctly predicted the winner of 10 out of the last 11 elections. The exception being Trump's victory in 2016.

I’m not American so I didn’t vote for anyone . Clinton is pretty despicable but not in the Trump league as I didn’t feel he was actually dangerous .

NotOneOfTheInCrowd · 05/11/2024 17:45

The presidential poles aren’t generally that accurate. The ones to watch are the poles for the sennet which are also being elected today, because it’s who gets into the senet who ultimately has the most power.

I actually don’t think it’s as close as they’re predicting. Also, I don’t think we’ll have an answer until next week at the earliest.

Genuine how exactly? Have you ever listened to him talk? He sounds like a robot. There is 0 inflection in his voice what so ever.

Unless by simple you mean simpleton?

Cynic17 · 05/11/2024 17:48

It probably won't be tonight/tomorrow though....... could take quite a few days, regardless of who wins.
