... won't be so exciting - Kamala will scrape through and Trump will moan and then back down?

Can't see a thread on this, but if there is, please do tell me x

What, so you are saying that the majority of Americans are stupid, because they don’t agree with your views? Because if he wins, it’s down to a majority vote.

Nah she didnae and nah it isnae

MumOfOneAllAlone · 05/11/2024 17:52

Cynic17 · 05/11/2024 17:48

It probably won't be tonight/tomorrow though....... could take quite a few days, regardless of who wins.

Agreed, although I'll be staying up late!

Genuine how exactly? Have you ever listened to him talk? He sounds like a robot. There is 0 inflection in his voice what so ever.

Unless by simple you mean simpleton?

He is a successful business man so I presume he can understand more complex language than he himself speaks.

What's the point in only communicating with the smartest people, if you are intelligent you understand that you need to reduce your language down so most people can understand what you are saying.

Kamala goes with the repeat a phrase several times and laugh approach.

We will see which worked, soon enough.

bigvig · 05/11/2024 17:53

I hope Trump wins. Kamala has no policies just more of the same. Trump rambles and says daft stuff but has a brilliant team around him. Just for promising to end the war in the Ukraine alone I'd vote for him. Lots I don't like about him but that's true of every politician. Kamala looks the part but her campaign has been vacuous, negative and full of outright proven lies.

Jennywren2000 · 05/11/2024 17:53

That would be a wonderful result OP. But it’s hard to call. I’m worried that Trump will win.

Didimum · 05/11/2024 17:55

MumOfOneAllAlone · 05/11/2024 17:39

He's got a lot of supporters - I always wonder what exactly it is that he's done for them, but they're there

I think immigration is where he is most supported. Same as the appeal of the right wing in Europe and UK.

HarkALark · 05/11/2024 17:55

This myth of him being a successful businessman is trotted out regularly and was systematically picked apart on a thread the other day. Trump is a dreadful businessman and the vast majority of what he turns his hand to has gone bankrupt/never turned a profit/been investigated for tax fraud. He's a rapist, a liar, a racist and a breathtakingly shit entrepreneur.

FWIW OP I think they'll vote him in again. And then America better buckle up, cos I think it'll get ugly.

Trump's idea to end the war in Ukraine is for Ukraine to surrender.
He doesn't have a brilliant team , he has a lot of yes men who have their own agenda

You are funny 🤣 Bless your heart.

So it's true that the immigrants have been eating people's pets??!!

Hope you don't have a vote, but mine contracts yours anyway.

To be honest, I'm not worried at all. Trump is not being allowed to win.

Wow, okay - you're entitled to your opinion of course although I'm in the complete opposite camp

can i ask what lies have you heard from her campaign?

I can understand wanting an end to the war in Ukraine, although surely the end that is wanted would be for them to keep their country?

I heard a commentator on the radio this morning refer to it as a battle between the vapid and the insane.

Sums it up for me.

I am glad I gave you a laugh. You may also laugh when Harris wins, or may need this laugh to cheer you up, next week.

I am in the UK, I am an interested party due to having family in America.

I do think that if he wins, He'll move very quickly to repeal abortion rights

And I agree with a previous poster that he'll be taking revenge where he can

Edited to add, I actually had no idea about his businesses, I just took it that he was successful 😅, especially given thst he owns trump tower in New York

I would not complain at that.

An anti climax would be fine.

Livelovebehappy · 05/11/2024 17:39

So because a random unnamed reporter ‘suggested’ if Trump wins, he will hand Ukraine to Russia, you are going to take it as gospel? That’s a batshit suggestion, and wouldn’t happen. America might be a big player in world politics, but even Trump wouldn’t have the power to do this without input from NATO, and other world leaders.

Good lord, no, these are POTENTIAL scenarios (from an experienced political commentator, didn’t realise I was writing a thesis and had to quote my sources!). I think we all saw how friendly Trump wanted to be with Putin during his term.

If he had simply invested the money he inherited from his father he would be richer today than he is. He also has the dubious honour of running a casino that went bankrupt, which is practically impossible. He is a great salesperson, of himself, but a less successful businessman.

I hope that the electoral college result is by a clear margin, whoever wins. If all the States on a knife edge go for the same candidate I think that will help calm things down.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/11/2024 18:08

TeaMistress · 05/11/2024 17:15

Let's hope that the election proceeds calmly and in accordance with the democratic process and the losing side accepts the result with grace and humility. No public disorder and no repeat of the disgraceful violence we saw 4 years ago or the absurd tantrum we saw the former president throw.

Totally agree, TeaaMistress, though things like the latest from Cambria County PY aren't going to help - apparently they've extended poilling by 2 hours because of "software issues", with other counties reportedly experiencing the same

And this in Pennsylvania of all places Hmm FWIW Cambria voted strongly for Trump in 2020, but this is exactly the sort of thing which feeds the unhinged if the result doesn't go their way

HarkALark · 05/11/2024 18:10

@MumOfOneAllAlone I agree re: abortion rights. He all but said it in an interview the other day: he will "protect” women “whether the women like it or not". He was referring to immigration, but it's an extraordinary statement and implies he'll ignore what the vast majority of women want, and just do what he wants to do anyway.

I think he also means from men, like the one who punched a woman and stole an Olympic medal in Paris.

TammyBundleballs · 05/11/2024 18:14

The markets current have Trump as 65% probability of winning.

That’ll soon change one way or another once the first exit poll is announced.

@AnotherHotDrink Ahh, the great trans excuse. Next you'll be telling me that "at least he knows what a woman is". Pull the other one, it's got bells on.

Wellingtonspie · 05/11/2024 18:18

I think trump will win.

However the options are kind of like picking a donkey to win the grand national. A poor choice either way.
