I had to download a messaging app today and my dp has this app on another seperate phone he has. His contact came up on this app once I'd downloaded it but I don't understand why he has some woman's picture on his profile pic haven't a clue who it is and why. Would you find this odd.

So guys what do you think about jobs advertised on Facebook are they fake

I don’t know about this site so I can’t say.

But if they are legit then you would have an interview in person at the place of work.
It will not be cash in hand (unless it’s cleaning and even that’s rare) and you’ll get a contract.

Do not give out your bank details until you’ve been to the place and seen that it is real.

If you’re looking for a job try indeed. I’ve always found that pretty good.

Yes some of the rates of pay on Facebook are too high to be true as well

I don't know why these sites are not monitored properly

A FB job listing that involves using Telegram AND promoting someone's social media account has massive red flags all over it. In the nicest possible way, you clearly don't know much about social media otherwise you will know it's pointless to promote it over a messaging app. The worst outcome is that something you sent out is traced to your phone and IP address and could actually send the police to your door. Considering your inexperience in digital marketing, it seems pointless to attempt to succeed at a job that involves exactly this?

Do you think that your partner could have fallen for something similar? Telegram is the platform of choice for people promoting crypto, digital market, passive income, OnlyFans, MLMs and other types of get rich quick schemes. A lot of marketing around those schemes tend to rope people in making them believe they are smarter than the average person but they are actually the victims.

The fact your partner uses two accounts on two phones isn't very normal. He might be involved in catfishing other accounts using a fake profile image. He could be promoting someone else's passive income online course and been promised commissions for each sale. He's clearly not making a huge amount of money through it, otherwise you'll be aware of it already.

BobbyBiscuits · 05/11/2024 11:10

Seems a bit suss. But is he using his real name, fake male name, or a woman's name to go with these pics?
I don't really see any legit reason why someone would use a stranger of the opposite sex's photos as profile pics. They're trying to con someone, catfish them, are having an affair with someone married and trying to style it out? Nothing nice or normal could really be the reason. But I guess you'll have to see what he says.

Why does he have a separate phone?

She's said it's an old phone. You can still use the apps on old phone's as long as you have access to WiFi. I use my old one at home.

Yes do ask him. That's the only way you will know. There's probably a reasonable explanation or maybe he doesn't know but you must speak to him. We can't help you.

It was promoting somebody's YouTube channel but when they asked for bank details to pay my first reward forv simply subscribing I haven't bothered as I'm not sure if it's genuine.

Definitely scam then.Do not engage with them on FB or by any other means

OP people have to take personal responsibility sometimes.

Tahlbias · 05/11/2024 12:26

I would get another number and message him off it.

Autumnalsun · 05/11/2024 14:05

Is there a reason you are looking for jobs on there and not on a job search website?

Anything on Facebook or gumtree etc have the chance to be fake because they’re not monitored but if you see one you can always look them up and see if they’re a legit company and see if they give you an interview at the place of work etc.

Sometimes they are completely fake.
Sometimes they will scam you so you give them money, either by giving your bank details or paying for something up front.
And sometimes they’ll get you to do work but never pay you.

It’s like getting an email saying you’ve won some money.
You have to be very careful about replying or giving any of your details, as it’s likely a scam.

NeverFastAlwaysFurious · 05/11/2024 15:23

2 phones is always dodgy but not as dodgy as the Facebook job ad but get someone else's phone and get them to put his number in WhatsApp and/or telegram and see what it comes up as. Or delete the number from your phone and do the same. You might find he's added the details as davina and unearth a real secret.

Josette77 · 05/11/2024 19:13

Do not apply for jobs via Facebook.

Have you asked him yet?

Tevion321 · 04/11/2024 23:00

No haven't asked I just can't get my head around as to why somebody would have a random person's picture on thier profile

Obvious answer is she isn't random.

Laura95167 · 06/11/2024 17:57

Tevion321 · 04/11/2024 23:08

He does use old phone I believe and it's says active within 1 week

Why does he need 2 phones and 2 numbers? Is he a d**g dealer? That alone is dodgy enough

Bridget05 · 06/11/2024 17:59

Oh for the love of Mike....will you just ask him. Instead of stewing on here, just go to him direct, but don't forget to let us what he says.

Heydiddlediddle10 · 06/11/2024 19:05

kay240 · 04/11/2024 23:09

If the other phone is an old number he no longer uses the service provider may have passed it on to someone else. This happened to my old number, the WhatsApp changed to someone else's picture after a while.

This^^
I've also experienced it and came to write this.

Single50something · 06/11/2024 19:25

Why has his old phone got a phone number ? As usually you move the number to the new phone and the existing one can only be used as a tablet type device. Not for a phone number needing app?

RecklessGoddess · 06/11/2024 21:16

Cocoadoodle · 04/11/2024 23:34

Maybe screenshot the pictures of the woman and just say to him “Do you know who this is?” See what he says and his reaction.

Exactly this!! 👆 👆

Just message the other phone and say “hey, I’ve now got this messaging app and my contacts came through.. didn’t know you were using this number still, and who’s this in the picture??”

You could send that message when you’re sitting right next to him one evening. Say you’re testing the app out.
