I had to download a messaging app today and my dp has this app on another seperate phone he has. His contact came up on this app once I'd downloaded it but I don't understand why he has some woman's picture on his profile pic haven't a clue who it is and why. Would you find this odd.

What happens if you message him on his number? Does the message go to both phones? Can you see his messages on there? Who has he been messaging?

Is it an old number? I have a friends old number on my WhatsApp. They left the country a couple of years ago and and it must have eventually been assigned to someone else as the profile picture as I noticed the picture has changed to someone totally different.

I don't know I've never downloaded this app before but I can't message him off mine I'd have to use a new number so he doesn't know it's me

More digging required. For reasons only he knows. Does it still come up with his name or a fake woman's name to go with the pic? Anyone would think it odd if Geoff had a profile of a random woman.

It says Daves lycamobile but it's this woman's picture not his and if you swipe there is around 4 pics of her

Maybe screenshot the pictures of the woman and just say to him “Do you know who this is?” See what he says and his reaction.

Have you done a reverse image search and see if the pics pop up anywhere? If he's stolen the pics for some weird reason for a profile he had to have found them somewhere. If they don't bring any results back, then they're probably pics he's been sent somehow. It really sounds like he's set up a fake profile but the question is why??

Has he a friend called Dave who works for lyca mobile? It sounds like Daves got his partner as a contact picture?

Surely anyone who upgrades their phone takes their number with them?! Otherwise it’s just buying a second phone.

Is his old number still the same old number? Or has he given that sim to someone else?

Type his old number into Facebook and see if he has separate profiles, could try and connect some dots that way.

He has his main phone that he takes everywhere with same number he's had for years then he has a spare phone with a lyca sim in that he mostly uses for calling overseas and which he tops up occasionally however I think he uses some apps on it.

Do the pics look like the kind you send friends and family on messenger or do they look posed like what you'd put on Social media profiles?

I think you're just going to have to ask. Say you installed the app and see his old number has the profile of a woman. Ask in a genuinely "isn't that bizarre" kind of way, rather than accusatory, you'll get a more truthful reaction.

Some men do this when their cheating partner is in a relationship so her partner doesn't catch on.

I've also heard of trans identifying men doing this as they basically catfish other men because they find it "validating". (barf)
