Bloody hell...that's sore.
Before the 'ban' I was walking my Whippet and a friend's small Lurcher.
I heard a woman screaming, and looked and saw a massive XL Pit charging for us.
I got behind a gate, and put my two on leads.
It crashed through the fence and my two dogs were terrified, frantically trying to escape their collars- I had to unclip them both.
The XL Pit wasn't sure which one to go for first, but my dog was staying close to me.
It was horrendous- I was sure she was going to be killed- only her agile nature kept her from being caught, until the brute cornered her.
I grabbed the XL's collar then, and it was like being dragged by a horse.
I was bouncing around on it's back, holding onto to it's collar, while being dragged down a flight of steps
My weight {9.5 stones} hanging off its collar caused it to slow up eventually
It's owner seemed afraid of it.
The owner was awful.
I was injured and took months to recover -musculoskeletal and hand injury from holding on to its collar} to enable mine to get away.
The Dog warden found my friend's dog who had been caught by a kindly street sweeper - he noticed her ''running terrified'' and caught her with a bit of string and a bit of his sandwich. {Whoever you are, thank you}
The Warden was wonderful and said had I not released my two, they would probably have been killed being as they are small and light {10.5 kgs each}
Thankfully that XL didn't attack me- it was fixated upon my dog.
Warden didn't fine me for having a loose dog- due to the circumstances. He delivered my friend's dog back to my home {I could barely walk due to injuries}
Warden also said that he has been pulled about by XL's despite being a strong man used to dogs -and they ''aren't suitable pets and we don't want them in the community because of the instability of them- they tend to be passed on to unsuitable people.
