I’ll start.

That having a one syllable first name and surname is an absolute no no.

That the 11+ still exists.

Same. No 11+ round here. No grammar schools.

Andthesky · 02/11/2024 21:33

Just how easy it is to tell people to end decades long relationships on the basis of a single trivial disagreement where you only have one biased perspective to evaluate from.

SeatonCarew · 02/11/2024 21:43

That there are people who bleach their anus.

That websites exist where creeps share non-consensual videos of their partners.

That some people think that snapping and farting is a thing.

You can report any perceived infringement with the local police and it will be 'logged' for future use.
That there is a 'script' for men, yet I've not found a copy on Amazon yet.
MIL are always, always, evil and NC is all that's acceptable. DIL, of course, is always in the right.
Dogs are hated by the population, and all those stopping me every time I go out to say hello to my dog ate just outliers.

The Script ...

That if your DC don't attend a top 10 university their degree isn't worth the paper it is written on.

🙋 you've learnt so much from MN.

I think you should stay here and further your education.

Stop gaslighting me!

I think you are allowed to celebrate your birthday until you are about 8...and after that, its very unreasonable to want to celebrate it, or want anyone to remember it.
And almost anything qualifies as an awful gift!🤣

Oh yes
Toiletries? Chocolate? Wine? All terrible unless the most expensive ones on the market. And then terrible because of their bad skin, weight loss, never touched alcohol except for weddings...

I stand corrected! I can't see men buying it as a guide to being a prick though..that comes quite naturally..

Many people got furious about this but it turned out to be justified. A neighbour had been breaking in and stealing stuff.

That some people really will believe any amount of nonsense just because someone says it on the Internet.

Klippityklopp · 02/11/2024 20:07

@Tittat50 no and I still haven't either.
Is she still around?

My search results produced the definition of an act. I'm done with Dragon Butter this eve 🤮😬

Thanks for taking the hit for me. I’d actually have expected many MN threads saying not to Google.

The dragon butter thing came from a poster named NeverGoogleDragonButter and I'm pleased to say I never have

Ah that is genius, in a very dark and twisted way.

Another thing I had never even heard of and subsequently require a brain bleach.

Everyday is a learning opportunity on MN!

Also that any bad behaviour must be down to ND, and not the fact that some kids and adults are just arseholes!

And every adult who says or does something slightly peculiar has early dementia

That I (68) and my husband (75) are despised because we own a house with more than one bedroom and a garden. Apparently we can't have earned it or ever known what it's like to struggle to pay for it.

I'm starting to think I have early dementia based on my MN activity

Alittlebitfluffy · 02/11/2024 23:05

That there are a lot of inside jokes on here that I do not understand 😆

I didn't know protestant traybakes were a thing.

I didn't know that Irish people give massive amounts of money as wedding gifts. They really are very generous.

I only knew that when I got married. I was amazed at how much my Irish relatives gave me.

really @Floatlikeafeather2 ? now that does actually surprise me that this has been your experience 😞

Never heard the expression grey rock. Or disney dad. Both very descriptive. Did not know there were so many witty women posting on MN.

Did not know family shouldn't expect to meet a new baby until at least a week after it's born (this applies to new grandparents, aunts, uncles, but most especially MILs).

Did not know when audience with new mum and baby is finally granted the proud grandparents should have no expectation of actually touching or holding said infant. This may transgress boundaries.

Did not know so many people needed to set (rather draconian) boundaries for family and friends.

Also the unwillingness to answer the door - why? What do you think is going to happen?

Did not realise so many people are apparently ND and this seems to be offered up as a potential excuse reason for every form of poor behaviour posted about on MN.
