I’ll start.

That having a one syllable first name and surname is an absolute no no.

Is it? Why? I've been on mumsnet for around ten years and I hadn't heard this one. In fact many years ago I worked with a lady called Rose James and I thought it was the most elegant, no fuss yet feminine name I'd ever heard.

wastingtimeonhere · 02/11/2024 16:15

You can report any perceived infringement with the local police and it will be 'logged' for future use.
That there is a 'script' for men, yet I've not found a copy on Amazon yet.
MIL are always, always, evil and NC is all that's acceptable. DIL, of course, is always in the right.
Dogs are hated by the population, and all those stopping me every time I go out to say hello to my dog ate just outliers.

What are the fanny tablets, please? I have Trophigil but they’re not great.

Vaginal oestrogen tablets, called Gina. I order them online from Superdrug but you could get them through your gp. The Superdrug doctors review your order. Then they get posted out.

Have helped loads!

Stay naïve. It's definitely for the best.

Gosh, no, according to Mn. Green is unlucky, red is a coded way of saying you’ve shagged the groom, you can’t wear a colour similar to the bridesmaids’ dresses, you can’t wear a cream, pink, blue or yellow so pale that it might look white in photos. Nothing too sexy, nothing too short, nothing too casual, nothing too bare-shouldered in church. I’m sure there are lots of others.

My dear late Mum wore red to our wedding 😳😂

Of course 😁 - I hope you enjoyed the meal and entertainment. Iron Maiden weren't easy to book.

I said "that is really very kind, and please don't give me a generous monetary gift as well, like Jane Jeffer did!"

Itsallgoingtopot · 02/11/2024 16:36

Also, how many thoroughly wonderful, level headed, articulate women there are, quick to help a fellow women in need.

Not a surprise exactly, but warming. I often start typing a response but by the time I’ve put my clumsy thoughts together there are a dozen far more suitable and sensible, supportive replies.

There are the insensitive drama seekers and stirrers of course but they are always outshone by those with the ops best interests at heart.

MartinCrieffsLemon · 02/11/2024 15:19

There are about 20 different colours and styles which you can't wear to a wedding and you should be shamed for thinking otherwise

I have also learned to NEVER take fashion advice from MN…if I followed the advice on gear I’d look like an apostle in chunky boots.

I didn't know there was such a thing as emotional abuse. It was such an eye opener for me, it was what my husband had been doing to me for a long time.

I hope you are in a better place now Flowers

I find it really heartening when posters can help women in abusive relationships.

Ah, come on now - those threads are very entertaining. Some people get very anxious about what might be on their floors.

RampantIvy · 02/11/2024 16:54

That so many people hate summer, not that we have had much summer weather over the last two years.

Someone will post a beautiful dress for their 28 year old self and posters will genuinely suggest some 50+ year old dress as a better solution.

MartinCrieffsLemon · 02/11/2024 17:12

For a mostly parenting site, most posters hate children being children

mitogoshigg · 02/11/2024 17:13

I discovered that many people hate their relatives so much they go no contact, that most people have neurodiversity, that people earn no money or 6 figures and so many more "nobody is average" stuff.
