I’ll start.

That having a one syllable first name and surname is an absolute no no.

OP posts:

Honestly, it’s not that funny.

Don't make me pull the face Kimberley 😂

FieldInWhichFucksAreGrownIsBarren · 02/11/2024 13:38

Also that people don't answer the fucking door if they don't have anyone scheduled to visit... Always makes me think wtf.

nevergonnaguess · 02/11/2024 13:39

There are loads of threads that come up regularly. Showering/personal hygiene for example. It’s quite good really, because if you miss one you know there will be another one along eventually.

Also, how often people change/don't change their bedding.

Nothatgingerpirate · 02/11/2024 13:39

I'm probably lucky, because I didn't know there were so many shit men around.

camperjam · 02/11/2024 13:40

That my ex was abusive. That no matter how hard I tried to make him happy he was never going to treat me nicely. And that he wouldn't actually kill himself if I left him.

Demonhunter · 02/11/2024 13:42

Also that any bad behaviour must be down to ND, and not the fact that some kids and adults are just arseholes!

SatinHeart · 02/11/2024 13:43

That my salary, which I had previously thought was Ok, is in fact rubbish.

fruitbrewhaha · 02/11/2024 13:43

That people are fucking weird. I guess I kind of already knew but I’ve realised we are a strange bunch.

And I suppose hand in hand with that is how much people’s weirdness becomes a hassle
or struggle. For instance not answering the door if someone knocks. Or just small interactions or a massive issue for some.

Also how monstrously shit some people’s relationships are. There’s some fucking awful men out there.

JimPanzee · 02/11/2024 13:44

💐💕 hope you're in a better place now.

tilypu · 02/11/2024 13:45

How did you know? This is literally my first post.. 😕

Itsallgoingtopot · 02/11/2024 13:47

About the existence of Fanny tablets (Gina) and Vaginal atrophy!

Life changer. Me and my rekindled bedroom shenanigans will be forever in your debt mumsnet!

I'm one of those people. My son bought me a ring door bell I fucking hate it 🤣

That some people could start a bun fight in an empty room.

Takeoutyourhen · 02/11/2024 13:52

That penis portions is a thing and not just done in my family.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 02/11/2024 13:56

Several things

People don't answer the door/phone
Toilet brushes are evil
How half the population has anxiety, especially health anxiety
That dog owners genuinely don't seem to realise that dogs have a "smell" no matter how often they are bathed.
That people are weird about finger food/buffets

Drom · 02/11/2024 13:56

That some people could start a bun fight in an empty room.

This is certainly true. There’s a current thread from a granny whose 7 year old grandson came home without his school coat. Rather than thinking that this is the kind of mildly annoying mix up that happens literally all the time with young children and that it will show up in lost property or back on his peg on Monday, that OP and one or two others on the thread are immediately leaping to the conclusion that the coat has been stolen, and that the nefarious thieving other parents will refuse to return it, if confronted and have gone all DEFCON.

AnnaDelvorkina · 02/11/2024 13:58

What are the fanny tablets, please? I have Trophigil but they’re not great.

Usnone · 02/11/2024 13:59

That a surprising number of people have family & friends they can't be themselves with / are afraid to be honest with.

SocksAndTheCity · 02/11/2024 14:00

tilypu · 02/11/2024 13:45

But who's going to be the first over to Baby Names with it? Grin

The frenzy often whipped up out of nowhere is off the scale. Pages and pages of foaming over nothing.

GroovyChick87 · 02/11/2024 14:03

That some people don't clean their toilets properly with a toilet brush and bleach or cleaning fluid.

Ouncesnow · 02/11/2024 14:03

The true meaning of the word staycation 😂 and the fact that if someone posts about a U.K. holiday but have used the word staycation the entire thread will be derailed by every other poster telling the OP she’s using the wrong word.

JustAnotherDayInNorfolk · 02/11/2024 14:04

That people are that bothered with middle names that they need strangers advice to choose one - if you can't think of a middle name then don't bother. (I think middle names are pointless...)

Attelina · 02/11/2024 14:05

I learnt that many people go through life getting in all kinds of predicaments over parties, weddings, play dates, dating, shopping, relatives etc because they can't say the word 'No'! or 'No thank you!'
