Those who believe MN is more leftists, what makes you think so?

ItTook8WibesToKnow7WasEnough · 31/10/2024 16:08

Because to me MN has always come off much more right / conservative.

So, if you can point out what makes it so leftist.

I somehow think the original posts should have been reported, or is the Starmer thread somehow immune?

Oh I see, yes maybe they‘ve been reported as unacceptable insults.

EasternStandard · 03/11/2024 16:00

Barbadossunset · 03/11/2024 15:52

Why on earth was that list removed?
I was asked for a list of insults which I provided. PandoraSox complained and I apologised and corrected the post and made clear which were PandoraSox’s comments. This was removed so I then posted another list without PandoraSox’s comments which has also been removed?
Why?

Bizarre.

A list was requested. Do people feel uncomfortable with what was provided? Why would that be I wonder

PandoraSox · 03/11/2024 16:01

Barbadossunset · 03/11/2024 15:55

Well, if MNHQ considers it to be against their guidelines, it's going to be removed.

Does MNHQ not allow past comments to be quoted? Oddly enough, PandoraSox’s comments which I reposted still stands.
10….9…..8…..7….6…..

I haven't reported your post quoting my (real this time) comments, if that is what you 're implying. I have no problem with it.

Maybe as a pp has said, they should’ve been deleted when they were first written but no one reported them.

Are they still on the original thread?

Edited

Couldn't tell you - I haven't bothered looking to see where the C&P posts came from.

We don't get a lot of deletions on the Starmer threads, but they do happen occasionally. Thing is, there are ways of wording posts without getting deleted but while still getting the point across.

Barbadossunset · 03/11/2024 16:12

Yes they are.

Right well these posts weren’t like that were they? Telling posters to f off etc.

How strange. Why could that be

Maybe people feel bad about how those quotes come across. I mean they pretty much showed what was said about how people interact on that thread.

CurlewKate · 03/11/2024 16:19

@EasternStandard "
A pp asked for examples, so a list was provided"

I don't quite understand how this thread has gone- but it looks as if the examples were deleted. Which kind of makes my point- ignore and move on or report and move on.

You mean 'how people sometimes interact', surely. Things get heated. People post stupid stuff. People from both sides of the political divide do it. It would be better if they didn't.

Barbadossunset · 03/11/2024 16:24

I thought threads about a thread weren’t allowed, but there are plenty of comments on the Starmer topic discussing and pouring scorn on posts on other threads so maybe they are given more leeway.

Well to be fair to MNHQ, they can only delete posts if they are reported, so I don't think the threads are given special treatment. Feel free to report anything that breaks Talk guidelines!

Well the initial claim was it was a welcoming thread for all types of views, that people might 'challenge' content but people didn't resort to insult

Then someone asked to see them and a list was provided.

What kind of thing was said? fuck off, whining, bot, shut up

Is it really necessary?

Notonthestairs · 03/11/2024 16:30

Sneering and sarcasm comes from all sides - from the thread quoted above -

"Oh goody, another nauseatingly sycophantic thread. How these threads manage to be twee and mawkish at the same time as puffing a government is a marvel.
Keep up the good work!"

As an opening gambit I rather suspect it may have set the tone between posters.
I am going to tag @Rummly just because I think it would be rude to quote without giving them a heads up.

Yes I suppose posters are hardly going to report themselves or mates.

Yeah, but lurkers can do so if they wish!

KarmaKat · 03/11/2024 16:34

Leftist here 👋🏻 Happy that people can have differing views and have a (mostly) respectful place to discuss them.

However, any threads mentioning the trans community is quickly full of bile, fear mongering and hyperbolic nonsense.

Oh come on Eastern. You can be rude to other posters sometimes. I bet most of us here have said something a bit iffy now and again.

Not that. That was bad. I'm guessing that's why people got it deleted from this thread.

That'll be a fun Sunday evening for which ever MNHQ moderator is on duty - trawling thro' weeks old threads looking for posts only reported today

PandoraSox · 03/11/2024 16:39

OK. Maybe should have said we mostly don't insult people (because we don't), but like every other thread on MN there might be the odd exception.

Aduvetday · 03/11/2024 16:41

What’s the best thing about this thread is that everyone can now see what’s what. People who have denied it don’t like it because the uncomfortable truth is out there in black and white. The behaviour of some of the posters is all there to see.

Barbadossunset · 03/11/2024 16:41

I bet most of us here have said something a bit iffy now and again.

PandoraSox we’re back to square 1 now. You’re denying the insults are no worse than a ‘bit iffy’ and as the list I posted has gone, the proof is no longer on the thread.
However as Eastern says, ‘fuck off, whining, bot, shut up’ plus one poster who demanded another ‘leave the thread’ for criticising the Labour Party, is much ruder than a ‘bit iffy’.

That’s very kind. But I don’t believe I’ve posted on this thread.

And even though I’ve posted on the Labour love-in thread (of which I’m inexplicably fond, even if I just show up on it very occasionally to offer a profound insight), why should I be relevant here?

Assuming this thread has kept to its title, or thereabouts, why drag me into it?
