Right, well, first off, I love it here. i especially love it because there are plenty of intelligent, witty posters.
However, I am frequently surprised at threads relating to pornography, exchanging sex for "gifts" and fanjo shaving, etc. Now, I know we've all got different ideas about what is acceptable, but sometimes it's like feminism never happened.

Shaving your pubic hair is NOT cleaner. It actually leaves you more open to infection. Pubic hair is there for a reason. . Ask any nurse in any STI clinic.

You might prefer the way it feels and looks, but let's not perpetuate a myth.

expatinscotland · 25/04/2008 14:13

i didn't even know what the hell porn was and i wanted a brazilian because, well, i liked to wear skimpi bikinis.

i lived in a very hot place.

DirtySexyMummy · 25/04/2008 14:13

Do you not just think it feels nicer? I do. I certainly don't think it is related to pre-pubescence, I think it about the actual feeling. Sex when shaven is nicer for me. Its like having hairless legs and armpits. I think it looks nicer, and feels nicer.

Oh - and as for blow-jobs.. I personally love giving blow-jobs. Many women do.

expatinscotland · 25/04/2008 14:13

excuse me for not wanting to look like a gorilla for other peoples' principles.

expatinscotland · 25/04/2008 14:15

i enjoy giving bj's. a gay guy helped me with my technique.

he liked giving bj's, too.

the look of a brazilian wax is certainly appealing to men I think as they can see the fanjo more. However, when I get mine done, I insist that they leave a 'tache as I don't want to look pre-pubescent.

My DH finds my waxes quite funny on the day that I've had them as I look like a freshly plucked chicken

expatinscotland · 25/04/2008 14:16

i've also had sex with several different men on the go, bi-sexual men, men i didn't know, fuck buddies, whatever struck my fancy.

not because i was a misogynist or had a low self-esteem, but because i was horny and after my separation, i wanted to have lots of sex.

MrsMattie · 25/04/2008 14:17

Why do we think it looks and feels nicer, though? There are interesting cultural reasons behind why we remove our body hair. First it was armpits and legs...now it's fanjo hair (did any of our mothers remove their fanjo hair? No. It's a recent phenomenon)...

Why do I feel so disturbed by the thought of it? I'm a liberal woman, not much upsets me.

Look, I'm not obsessed with fanjo hair or anything, but I will ask these questions and think these things through! Many people choose not to. Bully for them.

DirtySexyMummy · 25/04/2008 14:17

Well, feeling you have to and wanting to are also different things. Anyway, that discussion is on another thread.

MrsMattie · 25/04/2008 14:18

Enjoying sex ..urm...is that even an issue? I thought we dealt with that in the 60s.

onebatmother · 25/04/2008 14:18

yes nwgirl I feel a t-shirt coming on. perhaps a sleeveless one, so the sceptical can tell at a glance just how hard-core we are about body hair.

MrsM absolutely. And anyone is welcome to tell me that their dp shaves too, and my answer will be that their dp is a freakoid and by no means representative of wider male culture, which in recent times seems to like its women to be inflatable on the top half and prepubertal on the bottom half. While men remain.. well, as nature made them.

suzywong · 25/04/2008 14:18

you're just showing off now, expat.

harpsichordcarrier · 25/04/2008 14:19

what we consider to be sexy and attractive is, of course, culturally conditioned for all of us - even if we later reject that conditioning
and the culture is misogynistic and getting worse tbh

expatinscotland · 25/04/2008 14:19

well, if you've ever lived in a REALLY hot place, MrsM, and you're very hairy like i am, it's even hotter and sweatier and that's quite an unpleasant feeling.

i'm talking about places where you sweat just walking to your car from your house.

in fact, in general, indigenous peoples in such climates have evolved to have little to no body hair. my father is half Mayan. he has no visible hair on his legs, arms or chest.

TiggerTonkerTruck · 25/04/2008 14:20

A Hollywood is the whole thing gone
With the other you still get the hair 'protection' you just don't look like your're wearing a baseball cap without brushing your hair in the gusset region

DirtySexyMummy · 25/04/2008 14:20

Mrs Mattie.. why do I think it feels nicer? because it does. It feels nicer to me. I leave a strip down the middle, BTW, so definitely nothing to do with looking like a little girl

I prefer the feeling. I also expect a man to keep well trimmed, and find that most do. Its much more pleasant for me to give a BJ to a well trimmed man, and so in return, I presume it is nicer for him to give oral when it is well trimmed, or shaven. And I like to receive

newgirl · 25/04/2008 14:20

do the think the op expected a debate about pubic hair?!

i agree in principal with the issues she raises - i dont think this represents mumsnet most days though - i think it is often feminism in action - eg resources to help women/support etc

i am frequently shocked at how badly treated some women are by their partners

muggglewump · 25/04/2008 14:20

I'm single and I get rid of my fanjo hair, all of it. It's for me not any guy, I think it looks and feels better.
I don't get what's with wrong with that?
As for women in porn, well I wouldn't really know given that I like gay porn

That's fair enough@expat.

Most British women who remove their hair don't have that problem, though.

Gobbledigook · 25/04/2008 14:21

'you just don't look like your're wearing a baseball cap without brushing your hair in the gusset region'

LOL!

kiskideesameanoldmother · 25/04/2008 14:21

just reading about Brazilians makes me cross my legs and wince.

expatinscotland · 25/04/2008 14:21

i'm not at all attracted to hairy men.

yuck.
