Who has time for seasonal bedsheets

Absolutely not here to cause offence butttttt

Shops are filled with seasonal decor - I understand maybe a Christmas cushion or even a Halloween door mat but who has the time for seasonal bedsheets? Do you use them all year round? Who looks at your bed? I've seen Halloween ones, Xmas, even Easter. I just don't get it!

It's ridiculous and so wasteful

XenoBitch · 22/10/2024 21:15

In related news, I saw a carrot sharpener advertised today (like a pencil sharpener but larger and for vegetables)

No, that is not a "carrot sharpener". It is a spiraliser. I have one, and it is ace.

How is it any more wasteful than using any other type of bedding?

TY78910 · 22/10/2024 21:17

@Josette77 I think the difference to me (and again everyone's priorities are different) is that I spend maybe a couple of hours in my bedroom awake so the effort of storing holiday specific bedding that is for my eyes only doesn't appeal to me. Appreciate though some people here have expressed they love it so that's great

I decorate the outside of my house not just for myself but there's a bigger sense of community (live on a development) where people do this to bring joy to others

You won't necessarily see a lot of decor inside my house though but that's because I can't cope with how my toddler just turns it in to clutter as she thinks everything is a toy

I've got a Christmas cover, and in the summer the duvet goes away and I rotate two quilted bedsheets instead. I really want an autumn one. Maybe even an Easter one.

Chillisintheair · 22/10/2024 21:29

Me. I have winter bedding, brushed cotton so it’s warmer. I cba with a door mat, where do you put it when not in use?

I have a Halloween theme doormat that is out all the time.

Serencwtch · 22/10/2024 21:35

I don't have seasonal bed sheets but I've got seasonal duvet covers, blankets & throws & love them. It makes me feel cosy & warm. I tend to get depressed in autumn/winter so one of the things that really cheers me up.

No more wasteful than the bedding on your bed

Zanatdy · 22/10/2024 21:38

I just have summer and winter, as i love the teddy bear fleece bedding. CBA with halloween or christmas specific

Not sure how it is wasteful. People who have seasonal bedding store it when it is not that season. If they do replace every year, I would assume they are not chucking it in landfill, and are giving it to charity shops instead.

writingsonthewall · 22/10/2024 21:51

I am definitely not a Christmas (or any other specific seasonal) bedding type person. I wouldn't waste my money, I think they mostly look shit and tacky and I hate having cupboards full of crap.

But yeah if people wanna do it I suppose each to their own.

I find a lot of things other people do rather baffling.

Personally, I think it's tacky when people insult others for doing something harmless in their own homes that makes them happy.

Not so much the time as the storage. Where does one put multiple sets of bed linen? We have a hot cupboard but it’s full of everyday towels and linen.

neighboursmustliveon · 23/10/2024 18:21

We have had Christmas bedding for years, last year got Halloween bedding and this year some for valentines.

we are what the vast majority would consider disgusting though and don’t wash the bedding very regularly (probably once a month) so it’s not a big issue.

PurpleYarnivore · 23/10/2024 18:24

I have seasonal bedding , pumpkin set went on September 1, Christmas set in a Nordic festive theme mid November to February then a couple of sets for rest of year - it makes me happy but each to their own of course . As for having multiple sets , I wash it weekly first thing , dry on heated airer and it’s back on that evening so no need for multiple sets .

Dear god. Chill out love. I didn't insult anyone, if you want to have twee ickle cwismassy bedding and an 18 foot blow up snowman up outside your house, you crack on. Just don't be surprised when some people think it looks shit.

I have an airing cupboard for the ones I'm using (about six sets each season, I don't buy new ones often or throw them away). Then I just pick them up, put them in a wardrobe, and put another six sets in the airing cupboard.

I might wash them before use so they're fresh, depends. But that's it. If I don't wash them because they're already clean and I don't want a brand new fresh smell, it takes me roughly 3 minutes to swap them over.

You put it succinctly! This is me, teddy bear fleece on the spare bed where I am frequently obliged to migrate due to snoring (not mine!), brushed cotton bedding/duvet covers. I could do with a cull, probably, but I need at least 2 of everything due to the migration issues.

Isntshelovely2024 · 22/10/2024 06:54

Well I tend to wash dry and put back on in a day

No tumble dryer here and no space for one. I imagine others are similar.

IAKnowyou · 23/10/2024 18:42

Well.. instead of changing the sheets to your regular sheets when you change them (this is Mumsnet so I'm assuming every 3 hours at the maximum) change them to the seasonal design of choice ..? Surely ?

operafiend · 23/10/2024 19:03

Quite agree re polyester sheets.

Bugaloo77 · 23/10/2024 19:06

I use my Christmas bedding all year because I’m to lazy to did through the airing cupboard for any of the others 😂😂

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 21/10/2024 23:26

Brushed cotton for me now until spring , so I guess that's seasonal

Brushed cotton sheets on for us also. Soooo cozy to get into.

@TY78910 ye gods!! I barely have time for a christmas tree!!!

Got to Xmas eve last year and thought f* it. I put some tinsel up on the pictures. And Xmas lights were still on. Kitchen ceiling from last year. Job done I thought.

to be fait had just come back from a week on Tenerife so wasn’t feeling Xmassy. My vibe was more grinch.

Back to OPs theme I have no issue with wintry pjs. That’s enough.
