Who has time for seasonal bedsheets

Absolutely not here to cause offence butttttt

Shops are filled with seasonal decor - I understand maybe a Christmas cushion or even a Halloween door mat but who has the time for seasonal bedsheets? Do you use them all year round? Who looks at your bed? I've seen Halloween ones, Xmas, even Easter. I just don't get it!

What does summer bedding look like? 🤔 Am I missing a treat?

My summer bedding is a floral white quilt.

@AutumnLeaves24 So don't you change your bedding over autumn/winter? my bedding is just washed and ironed and put back on. why the hell would i waste money on bedding for all the beds for use only for two weeks of the year! no wonder so many people are skint!!

Not sure why you think people only use the bedding two weeks of the year?

Also who irons their bedding??? Sounds like you have too much time on your hands.

I'm kidding. See how that works though? People have different priorities. These things don't make you better than anyone else.

@HebburnPokemon What does summer bedding look like? 🤔 Am I missing a treat? you are missing nothing! presumably summer bedding is sprinkled with sunshine and is basically yellow!! honestly cant believe some of this shit!! decorate whole house for halloween, decorate whole house for christmas, decorate whole house for easter! who has time and money to waste on this? lol

I do. I'm a single mom.

I make the time and the money.

AgnesX · 22/10/2024 20:14

I want a Christmas duvet set that's not brushed cotton. It doesn't seem to exist though.

I do have to admit I am guilty of other seasonal 'tat'. The front of my house is covered in massive spider webs and hairy spiders and I do it for all the little kids that walk past in awe 🤭

How is this any different from your entire premise?

You take the time and money to decorate the outside of your house. I don't see how that is any different?

ANiceBigCupOfTea · 22/10/2024 20:15

I don't do 'seasonal' as such but all winter long my teddy bear fleece bedding is on which is also wrong under MN law

suburburban · 22/10/2024 20:15

More stuff to store

I put seasonal bedding firmly in the category of things done by Women who Don't Work (alongside those complicated bento lunchboxes).

I actually do both as a single mom.

Maybe you're just lazy?

Obviously that's sarcasm but can people really not see how smug they sound over not having seasonal bedding? Lol

you still take a set off & then make it up fresh. It's less time consuming than getting one set off, washed & dried in one day. & you're likely using a drier why I don't do, I line dry.

its used more than 2 weeks a year & my bedding probably lasts longer than yours, because its interspersed with other sets & not tumble dried weekly.

people aren't skint because they've bought duvet covers in Christmas print instead of beige 😂😂😂

No some of us are just more organised than others

it takes me no longer to change my bed whatever is on the cover.

i put offensive comments firmly in the category of written by nasty people'

Is anyone else amused by the fact that in Similar Threads there are two about bedding plants rather than sheets and duvet covers?

FWIW we only use white sheets.

Yes it does. Plenty of it.

PassingStranger · 22/10/2024 20:34

Love it, and find I sleep better with it on. Soft and cosy.

I’ve found most of them are polycotton which I didn’t think I’d particularly like but I actually enjoy having ours on. We normally have thick, white, cotton the rest of the year which I don’t tumble dry and is a faff to dry in the winter. Using the autumn and Christmas polycotton stuff is a treat because it goes in the dryer and doesn’t crease!

Catherine Lansfield is quite a popular brand.

Goldenswan · 22/10/2024 20:42

I have autumn and Christmas/winter(brushed cotton).
I’m using autumn now brushed cotton again. I use with my plain cotton bedding for 6 months of the year.
I also have autumn and Christmas pjs. Which again I wear for 6 months of the year.
I can’t see why anyone else would care! Nobody but DH and children see the upstairs of my house.
But my home is full of my stuff (clutter) but it makes me happy. Especially as winter is so long and miserable.

Goldenswan · 22/10/2024 20:45

I would love to use white bedding but my DH (showers everyday) has a greasy head and I can’t keep the pillow cases white!

We have two pillows but only use the bottom ones to sleep on so they’re always hidden by the top one. My husband drools so sometimes it marks them and looks grubby. I find vanish for whites stuff is good. But you could also try rubbing some washing up liquid in the patches before washing as that’s good for grease.

starfishmummy · 22/10/2024 20:55

Seasonal Bedding just means we put something warmer or cooler on!!

Createausername1970 · 22/10/2024 21:00

I have Christmas bedding that is on the beds from around about 18th December until 2nd/3rd Jan. Then it gets washed, ironed and put back in it's box under the bed.

Cherrysoup · 22/10/2024 21:04

I hear you, OP! I was in the Range on Sunday (DH was looking for waterproof spray for his favourite dog walking shoes) and I was amazed at how much stuff you could get for Christmas. Crazy!

I put brushed cotton sheets on the bed at the weekend, I hate cold sheets. Seasonal ones would not be something I did, although I do think some of the duvet covers are more summer than winter.

fuckyourpronouns · 22/10/2024 21:04

I do. I also have minimal bedding tho.
We have 2 normal sets that get rotated. They're pure white and I've had them at least 10 years and they're still like new. Then we have a Christmas set for December that goes on on 1st dec.

The kids also have 2 sets each for use through the year, plus a Xmas set that the elf "brings" on 1st dec. when they go to bed on 30th, I wait till they're asleep and then change it so they wake up to it in the morning 😁

It takes no effort and very little storage

WhySoManySocks · 22/10/2024 21:05

People have them because of capitalism. The purpose is for corporations to sell more stuff, which can only be done by convincing people that something random like special Halloween bedding is necessary. Along the way they screw up your wallet and the planet.

In related news, I saw a carrot sharpener advertised today (like a pencil sharpener but larger and for vegetables).

Orrrrr... crazy thought... people have them because they like and want them

JubileeJuice · 22/10/2024 21:11

I have seasonal bedding. Four for spring, four for summer, four for autumn and four for winter with three Christmas sets for that period. They're all stored seasonally in vacuum bags and once one season is over, they go away and the next bag comes out. It doesn't take any longer to change the bed because there are different patterns on the sheets. It makes me happy, so that's what I'll do.
