Who has time for seasonal bedsheets

Absolutely not here to cause offence butttttt

Shops are filled with seasonal decor - I understand maybe a Christmas cushion or even a Halloween door mat but who has the time for seasonal bedsheets? Do you use them all year round? Who looks at your bed? I've seen Halloween ones, Xmas, even Easter. I just don't get it!

Weekly? 6 monthly here.

You wash your sheets every six months?

Motheranddaughter · 24/10/2024 07:34

I have Christmas towels
Just small ones for the downstairs bathroom m
Why not ?

Laura268 · 24/10/2024 07:44

I have Christmas bedding. It's a winter berry/holly leaf design thing. Maybe 'wintery' rather than Christmassy is a better description. For the guest bedrooms and everyone else, I have more traditional Chrismas bedding.

It's essentially just bedding with a Christmas themed design.

But anyway - Mum here with small children, work full time in a corporate role, DH the same, no family nearby (although they all descend - both sides - at Christmas to stay for a week), no nanny- just nursery/school. We have dogs and other small animals. We go to the gym, have friends, go on holiday, currently no household help either.

  • so there's alot of things I don't have time for. Changing and washing bedding, which I do every week, isn't one of them 😃

It's literally just deciding between the green, blue or Christmas set.

You are completely right. I couldn’t be arsed but if it brings you joy you should go for if, there is too little in the world right now and you should take it wherever you can. My question though is where in earth do you store it all?!?

I have a huge cupboard on my upper landing and it goes in there in plastic storage boxes.

YellowphantGrey · 24/10/2024 09:30

Sharptonguedwoman · 23/10/2024 22:28

Well it’s a moderate sized cupboard with a tank and two shelves. A spare set each for two single beds and a double plus pillow cases and kitchen towels on one shelf, second shelf is spare sets of towels. We don’t and can’t have a drier so we need spare sets. Cupboard is full.

So you've got 6 sets of bedding, the same as me? It's just that I've only got 2 beds, you've got 3.

My bed sets are all in one pillowcase to keep them together and they stack better

I don't have any airing or storage cupboards and the water tank is in the loft which is why we have ottoman beds

Stressed178 · 24/10/2024 10:08

Not me, I don’t want to store something extra for 11 months to use it for 1! Storing the Xmas tree/decorations/halloween decor is enough!
It’s a waste of money/space to me.
I have a few Halloween bits I get out year after year, sometimes add a couple of things to change it up…same for Xmas, but it’s all overkill now for every occasion, go on tell me I’m a boring Scrooge 😂 I do get the kids little seasonal candles/socks etc if that counts!

Twinklewonderkins · 24/10/2024 10:10

One of my daughters (mid 20s) posted her Halloween bedding in the family chat last week, so her and maybe other people her age?
not me I just have plain white so I can wash it at 90 .

RebeccaRedhat · 24/10/2024 11:10

We all have xmas bedding, but then kids open stocking in our bed, whilst me and dh open our pressies so we can concentrate on kids downstairs. Don't bother with Halloween or Easter or anything though

Atsocta · 24/10/2024 11:24

Na ! Prefer my pretty bedding xxx

pollymere · 24/10/2024 12:11

I have seasonal bedding anyway. Brushed cotton for colder months, lightweight, pale colours for summer and then slightly thicker ones for autumn/spring. The Christmas ones are just a bedchange around that time. My DC has mushroom bedding all year round!

yaddaoooh · 24/10/2024 12:16

I love them
Makes me happy
Takes 2 minutes to put on
Why not

Penguinfeet24 · 24/10/2024 12:37

My kids have seasonal bedding, I do not. Only because their rooms are neutral colours and mine is not, so most would clash. They love putting on their christmas/winter/halloween bedding though!

Personally, I think it's tacky when people insult others for doing something harmless in their own homes that makes them happy

Dear god. Chill out love. I didn't insult anyone, if you want to have twee ickle cwismassy bedding and an 18 foot blow up snowman up outside your house, you crack on. Just don't be surprised when some people think it looks shit.

I'm not your love, and I'm perfectly chilled, thanks.

Where did I say I had an inflatable snowman?

Why would people think it looks shit? The only people who see my bed are my husband and son. Even if someone did think it looks shit (though I'm not sure why they would. It's just bedding), why do you think I'd care what someone who wasn't sleeping in my bed thought?

JubileeJuice · 24/10/2024 12:57

I store mine in the attic. I have five vacuum bags of bedding, labelled spring, summer, autumn, winter and Christmas.

DH or DS willl get each one down from the attic and put the last used one back up. Takes two minutes, and means there's more room in our airing cupboard.

It’s just a bit naff isn’t it.

FruityShampoo · 24/10/2024 16:27

Thankfully, when you go shopping for bedding there is a wide range of choice in different styles, colours, fabric and textures to suit whatever you personally like. Who wants a world where we all have identikit houses and decor as approved by someone else’s taste.

Bubblemonkey · 24/10/2024 16:56

We got a pup who decided she was gonna piss on our bed. Christmas bedding was the only thing we could find in our local Asda at like 11pm. It got used frequently until we got a new, bigger bed.

Chillisintheair · 28/10/2024 20:33

XenoBitch · 22/10/2024 21:32

I have a Halloween theme doormat that is out all the time.

Good plan. My children wear Halloween and Christmas clothes all year round. My youngest insisted on a Halloween dress one Christmas day much to the annoyance of my mother.

SuperFishy · 30/10/2024 12:21

Ermmm, I have duvet covers for every season & holiday. I like to look at them myself, they're not for anyone else.

RadiatorHeaven · 30/10/2024 12:45

We use white cotton sheets all around. No seasonal bedding or china. Life is much simpler that way.

If I really think about it, I find stuff like Halloween bedding quite tacky. But I’m not sure why. And of course for kids, anything goes so if they love it that is great. If I am honest, I think I have some kind of inner snobbery about it but I can’t even rationalise it to myself. It’s quite a joyless attitude I admit.
