Who has time for seasonal bedsheets

Absolutely not here to cause offence butttttt

Shops are filled with seasonal decor - I understand maybe a Christmas cushion or even a Halloween door mat but who has the time for seasonal bedsheets? Do you use them all year round? Who looks at your bed? I've seen Halloween ones, Xmas, even Easter. I just don't get it!

I’ve posted this a couple of times before now, on different threads. It’s a shame it’s needed really.

This is so twee.

I am hugely judgmental by nature and refuse to stop. Grin

Wigtopia · 22/10/2024 11:06

White all year round, for all the beds 👌

Twee; but also true.

Sorry, no. I do work, which is why I have a house with a good sized linen closet and the money to fill it with bedding.

This.

I WfH 100% so love seasonal goodies in my living space. I like rotating them around the seasons.

TY78910 · 22/10/2024 12:30

I do have to admit I am guilty of other seasonal 'tat'. The front of my house is covered in massive spider webs and hairy spiders and I do it for all the little kids that walk past in awe 🤭

I put seasonal bedding firmly in the category of things done by Women who Don't Work (alongside those complicated bento lunchboxes).

I'm a senior leader, higher rate tax payer, who bloody loves pumpkin tat and seasonal bedding 🤷‍♀️

😂😂😂. We work 12 - 14 hour days and we still like seasonal bedding and decorations. It lives in the hall cupboard.

How much time does it take though?

It's not more time consuming to put a Christmas quilt cover on than any other one is it?

You've got time to spend decorating the front of the house but no time to put a Christmas quilt cover on?

Makes no sense given you change your bed and remake it regardless 😅

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 22/10/2024 09:01

@AutumnLeaves24 So don't you change your bedding over autumn/winter? my bedding is just washed and ironed and put back on. why the hell would i waste money on bedding for all the beds for use only for two weeks of the year! no wonder so many people are skint!!

Our Christmas quilt covers were £30 for two double ones and we've had them 10 years.

Thankfully the £30 didn't make us skint

PassingStranger · 22/10/2024 13:43

By seasonal bedding I thought you meant winter and summer bedding.

Yes I have that, teddy bear in the winter for warmth.

As for Christmas bedding no way. Never.

Imagine being as busy as you that there's no time to change your bed. Are you that busy you don't sleep either?!

Codlingmoths · 22/10/2024 13:48

I don’t have room for any extra sheet sets!! (I do have Christmas china, but I have a cabinet in the garage for that)

Printedword · 22/10/2024 13:51

Namechangedforspooky · 21/10/2024 23:08

I’ve got the Christmas bedding on right now. It’s the spare set in our house!

Ooo, I’m not sure I could manage with only 2 or 3 sets

I look at my bed every single day…I like it to look nice.

Thats sounds amazing and I'm really hoping it looks the same as what I'm imagining it to look like!

Chipsahoy · 22/10/2024 14:16

I have different bed sheets for different seasons, in that I have jersey ones for winter and cotton ones for summer and some polycotten for other times. How is that effort? Some of the winter ones have stags on them. Why does that take time? Don’t get this thread at all

ElaborateCushion · 22/10/2024 14:37

I would probably end up with Christmas sheets in July, just because they were the only clean ones available! 😂

Sometimes it's difficult enough finding all the matching pillowcases!

So no, I'll stick with non-seasonal, but I'm in awe of those of you more organised than me!

rrrrrreatt · 22/10/2024 14:53

I have two sets of Christmas sheets because I love Christmas. There’s a more subtle set with red and green holly and berries and then an all out mistletoe red and white set.

The rest of the year we have plain coloured sheets but it’s not a huge effort to take a different set out of the drawer when I’m making the bed in late November/December.

Edit to add I work full time in a busy high pressure job. I just saw the comment about seasonal sheets being a thing for women who don’t work - I wish that was me but sadly the mortgage won’t pay itself!

theemptinessmachine · 22/10/2024 15:37

What time is required? Time to look online and order them maybe? The bed gets changed irrespective of what goes on it. I have just donated a cheap Christmas duvet set to the charity shop. Used it for 3 years I think. I have " seasonal ones " though which go on in Nov and will still be used in Feb. I have bought red tartan for this year for our guests.

As a single mum with majority care of my kids and a full-time job, who does both seasonal decorating and bento lunches without feeling stressed by it, I can only assume you’re not very well-organised.

AutumnLeaves24 · 22/10/2024 19:55

Firestace · 22/10/2024 06:51

We have Christmas bedding, it lives in the airing cupboard until December. I don't get why people would buy new seasonabl bedding every year, but we've had ours for years and as it's only used for a month or so a year it's still in good condition.

@Firestace

I'm not sure anyone here has said they buy seasonal bedding yearly! Of course it's in the shops every year, because different people buy it!!

if I buy a new one I prefer (it rarely happens, I get too attached to things!! I take it to the charity shop so someone who wants some seasonal bedding can buy some very cheaply. I have a set I bought online in lock down, but I'm not that fond of it, so I'll take it, rewarded & ironed into the charity shop the week after Halloween & I'm sure it'll get snapped up.

What's the harm??

Life is too short to faff with seasonal bedding!

When I see all of the seasonal stuff I gasp in horror at the thought of storing it!

I have a couple of Christmas cushions and mugs that live with the decorations in the loft. That's enough for me.

@RamblasTapas

ehy do you consider putting Christmas Bedding on anymore of a faff, than putting on regular bedding?

I have very limited storage space where zi keep my linen, so I just pop it up in the loft with the other seasonal stuff. I have a loft ladder, it takes 5 minutes to get the season stuff down a few times a year. Hardly onerous.

Ruthietuthie · 22/10/2024 08:16

@AutumnLeaves24, I am in the US, so it might be tricky to get, but it is from an online shop called "The Vermont Country Store." The quality is absolutely lovely. I also LOVE Peanuts.

@Ruthietuthie

thsnk you for your reply!

US. Makes sense!! 😊. I think I'll just order one online, the worst that'll happen is it goes to the charity shop next November & someone else gets it for a song!! 🤷🏻‍♀️

yeah, Snoopy is my hero!!

I think life is too short not to have fun.
I find decorating fun.

And what decorations do you have stored in your attic if you are too busy to change sheets?
