Who has time for seasonal bedsheets

Absolutely not here to cause offence butttttt

Shops are filled with seasonal decor - I understand maybe a Christmas cushion or even a Halloween door mat but who has the time for seasonal bedsheets? Do you use them all year round? Who looks at your bed? I've seen Halloween ones, Xmas, even Easter. I just don't get it!

Better things to spend my money on than seasonal stuff.

I would rather spend £100 on quality bedding to use all year than £15 on polyester crap and get one week of use out of it.

I mean you can do both. I only like 100% cotton bedding but I bought a skull print sheet which is year round
If I got a Christmas theme it would be cotton and then used Oct - Feb because I would go for something subtle
But then I live alone and the cat doesn't care if I wear Christmas pjs in August

I'm 49 and a mum of two and only realised a year ago that this was even a thing..

I feel I've missed a whole trend, and then I wondered if it's a bit "live life love" grey carpets trend, so maybe best missed.

I have seasonal bedsheets, as in, matching the seasonal weather so brushed cotton and tartan flannel in winter and linen and cotton in summer.

That I totally understand - certain colour themes etc and things like tartan cover at least a quarter of the year, it's the exclusive holiday ones like Halloween when it's not your usual vibe in life

I've always thought Christmas bedding was a very very silly gimmick. However, if in the next few years I get some grandchildren, it will give me no end of joy to give them joy if they come to stay at Christmas.

Winter bedding so far has been switching the 3.5 tog for the 9 tog 😀

My daughter has Halloween bedding. It puts a smile on her face!

It is not just bedsheets, it is cushions, crockery, door mats etc. Where does all this stuff go during the rest of the year?
I went to The Range today, and they had a Christmas loo brush and holder. Why?

ComtesseDeSpair · 21/10/2024 23:38

I can’t say I’ve ever thought about it being an issue of time. I have numerous seasonal bedsheets (and duvets and pillows) in the sense of different togs, fillings and fabrics for different seasons; if some people also want to extend that to different colours or patterns for different festivities it seems pretty harmless.

Rainbow1612 · 21/10/2024 23:39

I have seasonal bedding.
1 Christmas set, goes on early December until the new year.
3 sets that get alternated from new year through to autumn.
1 autumn set that goes on beginning of September, another autumn pumpkin design that goes on mid October. 1st autumn set then goes back on after Halloween until December.

ILoveToCleanSaidNooneEver · 21/10/2024 23:39

Apart from decorating for Christmas, I wear Christmas socks throughout the year. That is it.

LoquaciousPineapple · 21/10/2024 23:39

How does anyone not have the time for seasonal bedsheets? It's exactly the same time. Maybe you don't like the idea or don't want to purchase them, but asking who has the time for them is silly. The only time or effort they take compared to normal bedding is the purchase, and that's maybe a one off ten minute job every few years (if that).

Who looks at my bed? Me, who thinks the sheets are quite cute. And more importantly, my 3 year old who gets excited about the Christmassy bedding.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 21/10/2024 23:41

I use standard bedding but 'seasonalise' it by chucking in some crinkly leaves in Autumn and maybe a conker or two, some sprigs of holly at Christmas etc. This Halloween I'm going for dead spiders.

I have to say it is not at all popular in our household but I've put that down to them all being a miserable bunch at the best of times and so I'm not going to stop now.

TY78910 · 21/10/2024 23:41

@Rainbow1612 I admire how organised you are

Suppose another fair point PPs have made are kids

It's just one extra box that goes in the attic with the Christmas decorations in our house, hardly onerous to store.

Didimum · 21/10/2024 23:42

People who like seasonal bedsheets have time for seasonal bedsheets.

RafaistheKingofClay · 21/10/2024 23:43

I’m not sure seasonal bedsheets would take more time than normal bedsheets would they?

TashaTudor · 21/10/2024 23:44

One day I will be a seasonal bedding person!

I don't know if I'm sleep deprived but read that three times and concluded you sleep on conkers 😂😂

Not wishing to cause offence either … each to their own…if you enjoy it that’s great . but personally …

Not me op! Glad I am not the only one who has had this thought either!

Takes me enough time and energy to get the bed sheets changed on a weekly basis as it is! And who has the spare storage?

ManhattanPopcorn · 21/10/2024 23:50

It's not the time, for me it's the storage and the over consumption. Fair enough if you you use them year round but special bedding only used for Halloween etc seems so excessive.

BaffledOnceAgain · 21/10/2024 23:52

We have Christmas bedding. In a last ditch attempt to keep the Christmas magic alive when my eldest was in Year 5, I swapped their general bedding on Christmas Eve for fancy festive stuff while they were sleeping. This involved hiding under a cabin bed for about 15 minutes when one of them stirred mid job! However, they absolutely loved it and still use it now (and the eldest is in in Year 12). Waste of money? Not for me.

TY78910 · 21/10/2024 23:54

Yea I would also like to clarify that when I said 'who has the time' I meant it in more of a figure of speech way. Not physical time, more questioning the concept and logistics

We have two sets of autumn bedding and two sets of Christmas bedding so it’s one on and one in the wash. They’ve lasted years. I’ve currently got this one on (although this is new). We have plenty of storage. I’ve also got autumn decor which we’ve had for years and will use for more years. I’m at home a lot so it cheers me up.

In the new year we go back to our well used Dorma white bedding sets.

I saw a Halloween one in home bargains I think it was! I was thinking would you honestly use it for a month or two and then store a used loo brush in the loft or somewhere for the next ten months?

HollyKnight · 21/10/2024 23:59

I don't mind the patterned seasonal stuff. But what I can't cope with is that teddy bear fleece bedding that comes out every winter. I have a friend who...kindly...puts that on her guest bed every year. Fitted sheet, duvet cover, pillowcase. I sweat my tits off in it. It's too much.
