To hope that Donald Trump doesn’t win the election

1000 replies

RosaMoline · 21/10/2024 16:05

….it’s getting closer.
I was hoping that Kamala would be a shoo-in for the presidency, but looking at the betting odds, I’m feeling quite pessimistic.
It’s incomprehensible to me that a convicted felon, racist, rapist, liar and misogynist who spurred on an insurrection - after everything that’s happened - is running for office again and may very well win.
It’s comforting to read though that fellow Brits DON’T support him.
Apart from Reform. Obviously.

Trump is not quite the ticket, he rambles, rude about opposition and is quite frankly a very dangerous man, I don't get why people hang on to his every word , which is usually a lie, something that's made up or something he read on tictoc and he believes it, if any one watched the Hand maidens tale, it resembles a Trump administration, where in the serious, women are rated as second class citizens and treated as sexual slaves, is that the country the wonen whovite fir him want to live in, and as for Musc, he is a spoilt little man who does not know where to flaunt his cash next. Sorry if I have offended anyone but America is taken a step backwards.

XChrome · 21/10/2024 21:57

Yes, it's ridiculous. Imagine thinking men in the loo is a worse outcome than being forced to bear babies by rape and having a rapist and outrageously virulent misogynist running the country. I'm GC myself, but that kind of thinking the domain of unreasoning fanatics who are utterly obsessed with a singular issue to the exclusion of all others.

I think also, that this is part of the "polarisation" of debate people always politely allude to when they are asked why its so much harder to make any sort of headway in discussion of trans issues in America. Yes, the progressive left is absolutely responsible for putting their fingers in their ears. But having the opposition dominated by very loud voices shouting "They are giving your children sex changes ops in schools, Immigrants in prisons getting sex change operations CAT LITTER Boxes in schools" and other very obvious nonsense, drowns out all the genuine arguments and issues around gender ideology. Some people can use that nonsense as an excuse not to listen, but other people genuinely just won't hear the actual arguments. And then people will ask "where are the moderates", "why aren't women saying anything", ummmm they are. You just can't hear them over all the crazy men (and TBF some women) shouting crazy things.
And some would argue that the deliberate destruction of any meaningful debate or normal political discourse is the point.

Whenwillitgetwarm · 21/10/2024 22:42

I read an article on people signing up in swing states in the hope of winning the $1m and one man said that it was ok that Musk was trying to get power because he’s already got all the money so doesn’t need anymore of that.

So does this man not think it’s super scary for the world’s richest man to also be in government with a puppet President who is increasingly showing signs of serious mental decline with Peter Theils friend and former employee, JD Vance as his VP?

And then over in the UK, Musks buddy Peter Theil co-owns Palintir who are itching to get the NHS database. What could possibly go wrong with these people being the worlds richest people, being in government in charge of legislation and having everyone’s medical and social media data?

HRTQueen · 21/10/2024 22:44

Let’s hope it’s a very clear win for Kamala Harris

and those voters that are just not sure are sure enough about not wanting Trump to be president again

Purplebunnie · 21/10/2024 23:01

username35890 · 21/10/2024 16:17

Trump is a populist and they're doing very well in politics right now. The West is moving very far to the right. His Project 25 is terrifying and I'm sure there's talk of mass deportation.

I do not see his reelection as good news for women or the Middle East.

I don't see his re-election as good news for the planet full stop

I can't bear to here the man speak and most of what he says is complete gibberish, I cannot understand why any sane person would vote for him

If he gets in the only way I am watching the news is with the buttons in my hand so I can turn the sound off

I agree with all of this. The crazies on either end of the spectrum are always so much louder and more invested than moderates are. So this is what we get. Moderates do need to speak up more, but the thing is, since we're not nuts, our lives don't revolve around bleating out our opinions and we aren't aggressively, arrogantly opinionated like the extremists are. So we don't get noticed.

Out of Kamala and trump, I’d rather pick trump.

Harris is a bubbling fool.

oh and I didn’t vote reform 🤣

Trump rarely makes sense.

Verses Harris who is by far worse.

Flowersjimmy · 22/10/2024 05:36

AgnesX · 21/10/2024 16:41

Scary isn't it

32% now. Nearly 1 in 3

Moonmelodies · 22/10/2024 05:45

A lot of non-Americans don't seem to appreciate that many voters in the US are fed up with the high prices in the stores, and their city streets lined with tents of homeless people and hordes of drug users, amongst other things.
Much like the millions of British people who were fed up with the situation under the Tories and voted them out, many Americans are looking to get rid of the Democrats in a desperate (and possibly futile) attempt to fix things.

Lyannaa · 22/10/2024 05:49

@Moonmelodies yeah but we had 14 years of the Tories!

Trump isn't fit to be any kind of politician, much less the leader of the US. Much has been made about how dim he is by people who worked with him in the WH.

I have hope that he won't be reelected just like I did in 2020. I'm really hoping...

Flowersjimmy · 22/10/2024 05:35

Yet I can come up with pages of nonsense Trump has said - they're eating cats and dogs for example.

He believes he's a very intelligent person with nice fingers. I'm sure you'd agree.

Did Trump fix things when he was in power?

Okay

Let's not forget Trump also suggested injecting himself with bleach so he could eradicate Covid....

Not clear why you think Harris is a 'bubbling fool'

I’m guessing you have never watched Harris speak if you don’t think it’s clear why. 🤷🏼‍♀️

RosaMoline · 22/10/2024 06:35

What the hell does a ‘bubbling’ fool mean? Do you mean ‘blabbering’ @Flowersjimmy
It’s also ‘versus’ not ‘verses’ FFS.

Anyone who votes for trump IMO is mentally deficient. Whatever he claims his policies are is entirely irrelevant compared to the person he is.

A sexist, racist, rapist with no respect for anyone but himself.

A man who:

Suggested injecting people with bleach to combat Covid.
Was happy to insight violence and rioting after he legitimatelost the election.
Claimed that immigrants in certain towns were eating people’s dogs and cats, leading to bomb threats against schools causing them to close.
I mean what’s not to love 🤣🤣🤣

I’ll just leave this here

hanali · 22/10/2024 06:51

The options are poor. On one hand an old mouthpiece who represents the gun lobby groups, and on the other hand someone who doesn't have many policies and represents the modern age war lobby. It's like choosing to chop off your finger or chop off your toe. The US needs to be producing better candidates than this pair.

Actually, it's "incite" violence.

I've got your back @RosaMoline no typos on our watch, this is serious business 💪

I feel so worried for my friends over there who are dreading the possibility of a Trump win.

i agree with a PP that there may well be more Americans scared of having a woman president than having Trump back in office.

i also dread to think what will happen if he doesn’t win….

SecretWitch · 22/10/2024 07:21

I live in Southern Indiana ( moved from Massachusetts) I am shocked by the amount of Trump signs I see in people's yards. I just cannot understand how anyone can believe that man is capable of being a world leader.

I'm so anxious about this election.

Newsenmum · 22/10/2024 07:31

Candaceowens · 21/10/2024 20:42

Perhaps I'll just innocently state that there are pictures of Obama with P Diddy.

Trump is a proven RAPIST who, if you want to get into rumours and ‘pictures’, has quite clearly been to Epstein island and hung out with underage kids.

Viviennemary · 22/10/2024 07:45

I hope Trump wins. Kamala Harris will be useless. IMHO. Trump has already been President and coped quite well. Better than Biden anyway. Which wouldn't bd difficult I admit.

Flowersjimmy · 22/10/2024 05:36

Leaving Trump's personal shortcomings his conservatism will influence the shift to the right in Europe which is very unpleasant.
