There's something weird going on in my house

horseHorseHorse · 19/10/2024 23:31

For the last couple of weeks I've been noticing lights on when I come in when I'm 100% sure I've turned them off. Milk out on the side when I'm sure it's been put away. Stuff moved around but not in an obvious way, just a "huh, I could have sworn I left that somewhere else."

Put it down to rushed mornings and my cats playing with stuff.

Been out most of the day, just went into the upstairs bathroom for the first time since this morning and there's blood on the loo tank. Thought it could have come from a cat bringing something in but the door has been closed all day, and it's on the third floor so it's not like they could have got in and out like that. Windows have been closed too.

I have already bought carbon monoxide detectors in addition to the wired in ones. They're all over the house but haven't picked anything up.

Have a loft but the hatch is tiny and doesn't seem to have been disturbed.

Have an internal camera which shows the front door and hall - no activity though it did show my dog going bonkers barking at something outside a couple of times today (though the external camera isn't up yet so I couldn't see what)

Only direct family have keys and they wouldn't do stuff like this. Will be changing the locks tomorrow!

I'm properly creeped out ATM! Husband will be back shortly from work thank god! I'm in the bedroom with the door wedged shut for the moment!

Please someone give me a rational explanation!

I don't think anyone has mentioned it (haven't read all the posts) because they don't want to sound mad and tbh someone coming in is more likely, but have you ever considered you may have a poltergeist?

How old is your house? How old is it? Has anyone died there before? If it's a new build what has it been built on etc?

Fully aware people don't believe but if you have no other explanation?

OP has been living there for 4 years. So must be something that triggered the poltergeist.

blueshoes · 20/10/2024 01:51

One thing that could indicate someone else is in your house is hair. Unless the intruder is bald or wearing a cap, people cannot help shedding hair. If I see a strange strand of hair (it would have to be different colour from other occupants in the house) in my house when cleaning, I consider how it could have got in there. Usually brought in on someone's clothes. If I see the same sort of hair all the time, it would be 👀

I am way too invested in this thread. Will go to bed now 😂

@LittleGreenDragons

Look at the time I wrote that.

Comprehension is key.

Also I can guarantee the officer was sent begrudgingly and more to make OP feel better. They won’t do a single thing because resources don't stretch to pathology for things like this. They should be able to do more but they can’t!

I think @LittleGreenDragons is referring to the fact that you said the police wouldn’t come out, yet 30 minutes prior to that OP already confirmed that they were coming out. Hence the very polite ‘read all OPs posts’ comment.

Comprehension something something.

Outrageous. To think the cousin thought he could get away with it.

These days you don't have to lay traps. Can just put ring camera at the door and cameras around the house and burglar alarms with PIR sensors. Cameras are not particularly expensive to purchase or difficult to set up. They don't have to be wired in. They can be operated using wifi and batteries. You can watch live on your mobile phone as well and have notifications sent to your mobile phone if you are out and about. As well as speak through the camera.

Yes it's much easier now with ring door bells, but I'd urge anyone who gives a spare key to others, be very careful as you don't know who could be inclined to use it secretly.
As in my friends case, she trusted her cousin and had always been good to him. She said that had he asked to use her computer or if he needed anything she'd have given it to him. Instead he let himself into her home, pulled the blinds down so he couldn't be seen (and obviously forgot to put them up sometimes) and allowed her to believe she was going nuts.
He was out of work at the time, but that didn't excuse what he did by invading her privacy a screaming from her.
He's fucked things for himself now though as everyone knows what he did and he's lost a number of family members now because of his actions.

*not a screaming from her ..... Stealing from her!

I've never seen poltergeist activity resembling this.

Ubugly · 20/10/2024 02:17

Omg my car years ago used to leave those marks in the bath. Had totally forgotten until I saw that and was only in a flat we lived in not at a different house. I don't think it was blood. Is it more orange blood coloured?

StampOnTheGround · 20/10/2024 02:22

My first thought would be something a paranormal and not a real life person explanation - I think I've watched too many horror films 😂

In all seriousness though OP, I am also really invested in this and hope you're okay!

Incakewetrust · 20/10/2024 02:29

More cameras, change locks, put alarms in your home.
Sounds creepy af but I hope you get some answers!

There was a really disturbing repair man who folded himself up and went through a tiny window with no sill onto a roof like a free climber/stuntman. Are the upstairs windows locked, even small or unlikely ones? Have you had cleaners or decorators who might have had a chance to copy keys?

Gettingbysomehow · 20/10/2024 02:44

Sorry OP it's demons. Try not to panic.

Sauvblanctime · 20/10/2024 03:43

Following cos I’m nosey 🤷🏻‍♀️

Fraaahnces · 20/10/2024 03:45

I’d be putting up Nanny cams all around the place this weekend if I were you.

🏃‍♀️ 💨

Excellent emoji use!!!! 🤗

Avanet · 20/10/2024 03:59

A poltergeist? Seriously!?

Let's ignore flea dirt (shit made of blood) that has somehow moistened and spread out a bit. Let's ignore detritus (bugs, leaf bits, rust) blowing through the extractor fan or window on an autumn day.

No, go straight to the paranormal.

😂

I like a woo story as much as the next person but my money would be on flea dirt with four pets in the house.

RedWinePoliticsAndHair · 20/10/2024 03:59

Weird thought but could it be where someone's washed their hands of something if that colour (pasta sauce?) and then shaken them dry with the orangey water flying that way? Grasping at straws!

StartupRepair · 20/10/2024 04:04

Hope there is a great explanation coming your way soon OP. It's awful not knowing

I have heard of people being able to access the next door loft in Victorian terrace houses and it explaining strange occurrences. Could this be a possibility?

😯

Actually 1930's properties too, a high school friend had this. That they could enter each others loft side (and effectively their house) I thought was barmy!

Mojodojocasahous · 20/10/2024 04:39

Are you sure the blood isn’t spider poo?

What have you seen then??? 🫣

FloofPaws · 20/10/2024 04:45

Very bizarre, but most phroggers would surely avoid houses with dogs?
I hope you check the attic when the day comes, also you could put a lock on the attic door

Monty27 · 20/10/2024 04:49

Who ya gonna call? 😄😄
