Pissed off to be told I can only 'carry boys'

AIBU to be pissed off at this. Two boy children absolutely love them and love being a boy mum.

Recently toyed with the idea of a third, but a friend told me that I can't carry girls I can only birth boys.

This really pissed me off and I don't know why.

I would love a girl, but I also would love a boy. It just the way she said it asif there was something wrong with 1. Me or 2. Having boy children.

Can you expand a bit more?

Why did she say it?

What qualifies her to say it?

Why are you listening to her and getting pissed off?

FairCrow · 15/10/2024 18:19

Huh? How does she have thus inside info about your body?

SausageinaBun · 15/10/2024 18:19

I'd be pissed off that it's unevidenced garbage. Two boys is no evidence at all. 1 in 4 two child families will be 2 boys.

Beezknees · 15/10/2024 18:19

How on earth would she know that?

Nothing wrong with having only boys anyway but she's talking nonsense.

Lwrenn · 15/10/2024 18:19

Ah yes, the uterus famously determines the sex of babies and your body after having 2 children must only make boys!

Your friend is a bit dim.

EmberAsh · 15/10/2024 18:20

Well your 'friend' (and I would use that term very loosely) sounds like a total idiot.
I would try not to let a comment like that piss you off and just laugh at the stupidity of it instead.

Ikilledtheorchidagain · 15/10/2024 18:20

What a bonkers thing to say. My scientific brain is screaming.

SiobhanSharpe · 15/10/2024 18:20

Your friend is talking utter bollocks.
In addition, there is nothing wrong with you, OR in having only sons. Or indeed only daughters.

Boomer55 · 15/10/2024 18:21

My daughter had 3 boys, and then had a girl.🤷‍♀️

YourMommaWasASnowblower · 15/10/2024 18:21

I would actually laugh at how ridiculous she is. Her comment makes no sense.

ErinAoife · 15/10/2024 18:21

Bit stupid comments from your friend. If you want a third child go for it you have 50 % chance that it is going to be a girl!!!!

Munie · 15/10/2024 18:22

It obviously isn't true simply because she said it.

You don't exactly need to take her word for it or give this the ridiculous thought it's had, but I doubt she meant it was a problem.

Clarinet1 · 15/10/2024 18:24

Sounds as though your “friend” needs some basic education on male and female chromosomes and that the baby’s sex depends on which sperm fertilises the egg!

ICantLogIn · 15/10/2024 18:24

I almost voted YABU for giving any headspace to this utter tripe. You're definitely not being U to be irked by it. Why did you not respond, "Bwahahahaha! What crap you talk!' ?

Comtesse · 15/10/2024 18:24

Your mate is a muppet.

PosiePetal · 15/10/2024 18:25

I hate this. I heard it said about someone who had miscarried their 2nd ds and I thought it was such an ignorant and cruel thing to say. That woman went on to have another baby, a daughter. It’s just absurd that people believe and spout such nonsense!

.

SashMontgomery · 15/10/2024 18:27

Surely it was a joke?

Bit like how we all say that only the “boy ball” works in my husbands family as only boys have been born into it. All girls have either married or adopted in.

CaptainMyCaptain · 15/10/2024 18:29

I voted YABU for giving her stupid comment a moment's thought. Also if you do have another boy it will not be the end of the world and you will have a lovely little boy.

Irridescantshimmmer · 15/10/2024 18:30

Its nothing to do wih her wether you carry boys or girls, so she should get her big mouth under control first before she fires off another stupid comment.

Dotto · 15/10/2024 18:30

You do know why, and it's because she is an ignorant arsehole.

YouveGotAFastCar · 15/10/2024 18:31

It was an insensitive thing for her to say, especially if she knows you want a girl - although I believe that statistically your third child is likely to be the same as your first two, so perhaps she’s aware of that. Doesn’t really excuse it, though!

I’d have had to wind her up a bit as a result…

This. It’s like people who think they can tell if you’re carrying a girl or a boy by dangling a pendulum over your bump. Maybe give your dimwit friend a book on chromosomes, or statistics?

5foot5 · 15/10/2024 18:31

She sounds as thick as fuck, why are giving her comment any head space?
