Covid and Flu jabs and feeling awful!

Did anyone else have really bad side effects this time? I am a bit better now but I was in a horrible way last night. Thought I was getting full-on flu!

@Nousernamesleftatall it's far more complicated than you'd understand.

Bloom15 · 15/10/2024 20:53

I was ok apart from a sore arm

traybake81 · 15/10/2024 16:09

how did you find the other times?

I deciding whether to just get the flu jab or tag on covid to

I've had one previous bad experience but the others have all been fine.

How did you get covid jabs? I really want one but am not entitled this year. Last year carers were allowed to have them.

I had a flu jab on Friday and have felt really ill since but tbh have been assuming that I caught covid or flu too, as it has been such a strong reaction

I have asthma and an auto-immune condition, so was invited early.

Having had pneumonia earlier this year, I am thankful to have been offered the jabs.

I've had my flu jab last week and thought I wasn't eligible for Covid as I don't fit any risk categories I am aware of but my NHS app would allow me to book one now so I'm a bit confused.
Flu was fine this year, no side effects at all

HellsBells67 · 15/10/2024 21:11

I've never taken flu or covid vaccines because I've seen the state my parents were in after them. To be fair, they both stopped flu jabs around six or seven years ago as they were so flattened with illness after them but they took three covid jabs and now my dad has raging 'eczema' that started the day after his Moderna booster and cannot get a wink of sleep. Mum just feels permanently ill and she used to be super active. They got fairly shitty doses of covid after those vaccines anyway. I remember when Pfizer tweeted that they'd been given authorisation for the jabs to 'prevent' covid. That's gone by the wayside! Now everyone just says oh but think how much worse you're covid would be without the jab. Well, how on earth can that be proven?

I had both today before work and feel like death. Contemplating taking tomorrow off if I still feel like this.

Edited

Take tomorrow off. Even if you are feeling better by the morning, if you have a rough night then you'll be wiped out tomorrow.

I always take paracetamol just before the jabs and again before I go to bed and never have too much bother, other than a sore arm.

cadburyegg · 15/10/2024 21:30

Had one in each arm on Saturday. Slept all afternoon, felt awful! Still went to bed at a normal time then woke up Sunday absolutely fine. I was just glad my dc were at their dads at the time.

nomorezoflora · 15/10/2024 21:48

Saturday double jab, faux flu within four hours, arms woke me up overnight (side sleeper) so Sunday was a writeoff with both tired and ill, Monday was okay.

aliasname · 15/10/2024 22:03

Flu jab - no side effects at all
Covid jab - very sore arm & felt a bit ropey the next day

MIL had both together in the same arm, says it was fine (but then she is as tough as old boots ie. permanently pickled in cider)

I can’t wait till I’m old enough for the shingles vaccine, that’s one virus I do not want!

Everyone I know who has had both jabs is feeling awful for up to a week afterwards
I will be refusing both - I’ve had covid vaccine 3 times, never bothered with flu vaccine - I’ve also had Covid twice - possibly a third time but we had already stopped testing
Im now in the process of being diagnosed with CFS, ME, long Covid or post viral fatigue syndrome and all the evidence is pointing to it being the vaccine rather than the virus due to timescales
The professionals I’ve been seeing said it’s incredibly common but they are not allowed to diagnose it as vaccine related for obvious reasons
I will not risk being vaccinated again - believe me you would not want to feel like this

Ive had pericarditis because of the jab.
5 days in hospital and many invasive tests later its still not totally better. Awful. Can't believe people are still happily taking them.

BabyCloud · 15/10/2024 22:06

A local lady to me collapsed about 300m from the doctors after having hers.

I haven’t had any since the first booster was rolled out.

OnTheBoardwalk · 15/10/2024 22:13

I've had one bad reaction out of only one of many for covid. No issues this time

Got proper sore arm after the flu jab that I’ve never had before. Dr jabber told me that it's down to the size of the needle. Not sure if that’s true or not but I’m proper popeye still that size on arm days later

I am sorry but who on earth would have this stuff knowing everything we know....

I know what it's like to have flu and I know what it's like to have Covid. Well, sort of, I can remember the pain and moments of consciousness where I was choking and desperately trying to get some air into my lungs instead of drowning. And the disruption to my heart rhythm that lasted for months afterwards.

Vaccines are great.

I actually don't know how I managed to drive the car home. I was on my own and didn't want to make a fuss but I instantly felt so ill

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 15/10/2024 22:24

Just a slightly sore arm for maybe a couple of days this time with my covid jab. Flu jab my arm just ached slightly for around a day. My first covid jab I could hardly get out of bed the next day. I think I got up to feed late DCat got myself some breakfast took one look at it and went straight back to bed. The following day I still felt like absolute shite but had no choice but to get up as I was having a new shower fitted. The second covid jab left me with a lovely migraine for around 6 weeks.

caringcarer · 15/10/2024 22:24

In the past I've always been fine after flu and COVID jabs. I've always had Pfizer or Astra Zenica. This time I had Moderna and I had the most terrible headache 50 mins after the jabs. It was so bad I went to lie down on the bed, I felt drained and fell into deep sleep and slept for 3 hours missing a planned meeting. I still felt weak and had a mild headache for 2 days afterwards. I'm not having Moderna again.

dicdicnurse · 15/10/2024 22:34

I had both in one arm and felt horrendous for 24 hours or so afterwards. I've had both at the same time for the last 4 years and never felt this rough!

Namechangedforthis25 · 15/10/2024 22:35

I shivered a lot that night

apparently the flu jab isn’t live: covid is

theresnolimits · 15/10/2024 22:41

Had both jabs (late 60s) different arms. Nothing. A bit of tenderness if I pressed the spot.

I was told both vaccines are not live so you can’t get either flu or Covid from them 🤔

I think if you had side effects, you’re much more likely to comment. If it went off easily, you won’t mention it.

Icequeen01 · 15/10/2024 23:06

My elderly DM had hers on Saturday. I was dreading it as she is normally pretty rough for a few days afterwards. We are pretty sure she has dementia and the jabs always make her more confused.

Strangely, this time she was fine apart from a very sore arm and feeling tired which I was relieved about.

billybear · 15/10/2024 23:10

i had both jabs in left arm that was very sore for 3 days, had jabs at 11,30 am all that evening i had a bad tummy running to the loo. a few people i know all had bad tummys, its a top side effect. the day i had my jab at my local chemist they had 6 people cancel because they had covid already so better to jab and feel ill for a bit,

DilemmaDelilah · 16/10/2024 07:06

I had both the covid and the flu jabs on Saturday. On Sunday evening I was surprised by an episode of atrial fibrillation (I've had it before and had treatment for it) that was so bad I nearly blacked out. I looked up the possible side effects of the covid jab and that is one, particularly in those who are predisposed towards heart arrhythmias.

Otherwise no particular side effects for me except a very sore arm!

Notmoog · 16/10/2024 07:37

"Otherwise no particular side effects for me except a very sore arm!"

How are you able to dismiss the atrial fibrillation so easily? Are you not worried about long term effects?
