Covid and Flu jabs and feeling awful!

Did anyone else have really bad side effects this time? I am a bit better now but I was in a horrible way last night. Thought I was getting full-on flu!

Had the flu jab on Thursday, started to feel ill on Sunday and still feeling rough. It's the first time I've has the jab and never had flu so maybe my immune system is in overdrive.

@Marmunia10667

I've zero Covid vaccines and I've been fine! Not sure why people set themselves up for a rough few days, and the risk of permanent damage.

Are you just uneducated or is your tinfoil hat needing a rub?

Loving the tin foil hat brigade. Maybe you've missed the memo that many have signed up for the injuries payment scheme. Thousands have life-changing injuries. Look at the heart problems, clots and strokes. Doctors won't make a connection though for fear of being struck off.

LorettyTen · 15/10/2024 19:30

@Marmunia10667 you're preaching to the wrong person. I'm a microbiologist, I've worked on many vaccines and know how valuable they are.
You've been fine? Well whoop de do for you. Next time you might not be, or you might pass it on to someone vulnerable.

LorettyTen · 15/10/2024 19:32

@Oldandcobwebby I didn't realise it was so expensive to have it done privately! I imagined it was similar to the cost of the flu jab.

Tell me then why so many adverse effects? Why blood clots and strokes in particular?

Is it safe and effective? When if there is some evidence that certain COVID-19 vaccines can increase risk factors for stroke, is is not withdrawn?

I'd rather have a few shivers and sniffles than a stroke.

Make me change my mind.

LorettyTen · 15/10/2024 19:47

@Marmunia10667
Make me change my mind.

Are you serious? Why would I waste my time trying to convince someone I don't know of anything? I couldn't care less if you're a founder member of the tin hat polishers' society, it makes no odds to me what you believe.
Anyway, I'm used to talking to adults.

And I don't understand why people decline the jab if it's offered, but we all have different viewpoints.

I had both, one in each arm and felt absolutely fine, but I've very rarely had any kind of adverse reaction.

Tulips543 · 15/10/2024 20:01

Paid for flu jab 2 weeks ago - no side effects whatsoever.

beeloubee · 15/10/2024 20:07

I was injured by pfizer. Still suffering 3 years later. Look at the new daily mail articles on it and check the comments. Full of people affected badly by it.

getthosetitsup · 15/10/2024 20:10

I had my jabs a week apart this year. Flu first and I had a cold the following week (and am still recovering from the tiredness and chesty cough). I think it was genuine coincidence through. The rest of my (as yet unvaccinated this year) household have also had colds and DD16 had it first. It's lingered with her too.

Covid jab just left me with a bloody sore upper arm for a day or so.

User79853257976 · 15/10/2024 20:14

No, I’ve never had any symptoms from a flu jab.

user1471453601 · 15/10/2024 20:18

Except for a slightly sore arm for the next day (both injection in same arm) I was fine.

lemonlavendar · 15/10/2024 20:20

I had both in different arms. No side effects at all which I was delighted with as previously the Covid vaccine made me feel very unwell and dizzy.
I am coming out of 3 years of Long Covid and desperately want to regain full health, although looks like I will have residual effects ongoing...who knows.

ahemfem · 15/10/2024 20:22

I'd stagger them personally

Auburng · 15/10/2024 20:26

doodleygirl · 15/10/2024 16:12

I was ok apart from a sore arm, my mum was fine but my sister felt rubbish for 24 hrs. No idea why some people feel awful and some are fine.

Sometimes its random as the flu strains change each year

Also diet could be a factor. Does your sister eat no or little fruit n veg compared to you and mum? That could be a factor.

MadisonAvenue · 15/10/2024 20:29

I usually get a sore arm from the flu jab and the Covid one usually knocks me about the following day or so with a bad headache, aching joints and tiredness as well as a sore arm.

I had both last week, first time I’ve had both on the same day, and apart from a slight headache on the night time all I’ve had are sore arms.

loulouljh · 15/10/2024 20:29

I am sorry but who on earth would have this stuff knowing everything we know....

Because I've been having the flu vaccine for years, since way before covid and have no issues
Because I'm immunocompromised and trying to do my best to protect myself against covid and I've had 8 vaccines without an issue

Zippea · 15/10/2024 20:32

I had both done in the same arm and felt rough plus, my arm hurt for the best part of a week. I think next time I will have them done spaced out by a fortnight.

MrsDoylesLastTeabag · 15/10/2024 20:35

I had mine in the same arm this year, having previously always staggered them by two weeks. Had 12 hours or so of feeling tired and a bit achy then … fine!

Think this was my mildest reaction to a Covid jab yet. I hardly ever have any reaction to the flu jab beyond soreness at the site.

Gosh you still think the Covid vaccine prevents infection or transmission? Wow.

Allthehorsesintheworld · 15/10/2024 20:39

First time I’ve not had any side effects/symptoms. Separate jabs, few days apart.

We’re both ancient. I’m post cancer treatment. My husband has a number of issues. We were both totally fine after double dose
