To think that gay and lesbian people should be able to have a conference in peace

nothingcomestonothing · 11/10/2024 19:10

Transactivists have tried to disrupt the LGBA conference by releasing insects into the venue. It's disgusting . Because they don't think gay men and lesbians should be allowed to meet peacefully without them.

No one is stopping transpeople from having events by themselves, why shouldn't gay men and lesbians be able to meet if that's what they want to do? It's just repackaged homophobia - same sex attracted people aren't allowed to have their own conference.

Being trans is not about how you dress - that’s a misunderstanding and a harmful stereotype

What is it then? Please define being 'trans'.

TheKeatingFive · 13/10/2024 10:21

I think people are starting to see this ridiculous, but violent and thuggish activist movement for what it is.

It's terribly homophobic to deny sane sex attraction exists. I feel like I've been transported back to the 1980s/1990s.

Please don’t align all lesbian and gay people with the LGBA. As a lesbian, it is offensive. They are an anti-trans organisation, nothing to do with the majority of normal lesbian and gay people who are getting on with our lives in peace and want nothing to do with them.

I don’t think they are aligning

They made two separate statements.

  1. The LGBA is for same sex attracted people. It does not exist to do anything to transpeople, that's just silly
  2. LGB people have their own concerns.

I have to be circumspect in my language as I'm not sure we're allowed to use a certain four-letter word to describe this movement, even though I'm in no doubt it qualifies - hierarchical; skilful use of brainwashing techniques; recruitment of vulnerable members, who do the grunge work and are ruthlessly cut off from their family and friends by insinuations that only the group have the members' best interests at heart and anybody trying to undermine belief in the group has to be cut out of your life; relentless drive to get money from allies and sympathisers who are persuaded that it's a privilege to help the cause; people rapidly rising through the hierarchy who in any other sphere would correctly be identified as troublemakers, criminals and deviants.

Do you mean a see you Elle tee? That is very perceptive of you, I would agree.

Trans rights are not in any way in conflict with LGB rights. ( Many trans people are also gay.)
This is transphobia.

Edited

Of course they conflict with each other. Trans rights say that male people who define themselves as lesbians, cannot be excluded from lesbian events, see the courtcase in Tasmania for example. Or the transman who demanded access to a gay sauna. Most gay people don't want this and they should have the right to organise just for themselves. And I am not going to even start on the cotton ceiling or the danger of gay children doubting their sexual orientation and being convinced they are trans because of their sexual orientation (this is the 'transing the gay away' issue).

Just as trans rights conflict with womens rights.

Look, it is easy, either being gay is same sex attraction or it is not. Just like womens spaces are either single sex or they are not. It is not sometimes or difficult or maybe or depends. Trans rights demand they are not same sex or single sex, gay rights and women rights demand they are. You can't have both.

Yes, exactly!

Yanbu, or course.

Me too!

It seems to me that’s very much what it is about. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that’s all it’s about for some trans people.

Stupid children.

In contrast, there was a brave & brilliant young lesbian who’s doing TikTok videos & who reminded me of Magdalen Berns - who she said inspired her.

Who's this please?

Yes, I did. Not an original observation.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/10/2024 10:35

LGB Alliance are a lesbian, gay and bisexual rights organisation in the same way Guide Dogs for the Blind is a disabled rights organisation. They represent a population of that overall group.

As a court judgment, handed down when Mermaids unsuccessfully tried to get their charity registration rescinded, was clear on.

Ironically, that applies very nicely to the GC movement.

..getting on with our lives in peace..

As a lesbian, wanting to live my life in peace is the very reason I support the LGBA and recognise the need for such an organisation.

Trans is not a sexuality and should never have been included under the ridiculous LGBTAI+++++ umbrella. The damage being done to young gay people, and young lesbians in particular is absolutely disgusting. Kids mutilating their healthy bodies and lesbian girls having their breasts removed is not some I would ever support.

You should be ashamed.

Unfortunately for you ultimately it is. In 1000 years from now and there are archaeologists digging up our bones there will be absolutely no way of knowing someone’s gender. You can argue about the rights of feelings over biology until the cows come home but it will never change the fact that gender is purely about presentation and not biology.

The smug, homophobic children are now crowdfunding for themselves. I won't link the page but it's at a crowdfunding site for people who just like giving.

I'd have thought that causes spreading homophobia and performing animal cruelty would be against the platform's terms, but I bet it doesn't get removed.

gosh I hope no one complains to the funding platform about them.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/10/2024 10:52

How's that then? I think you're just doing "no, u" but happy to discuss in what aspects you think it does. People have laid out many times why it's accurate in terms of trans rights activism.

Define how they are anti-trans?

Why should lesbians have to consider penised males in their romantic relationship pool? They are same SEX attracted. Not same gender feelings attracted. I’d consider that a ‘normal’ lesbian.

Why?

PiggleToes · 13/10/2024 11:11

Drfosters · 13/10/2024 11:07

Why?

Because of the hysteria, anger and fear that it expresses towards trans people (eg trans should never have been included in the ridiculous umbrella , use of words like “damage”, “disgusting”, “mutilation” etc) and the misinformation about being trans that it promotes (eg kids/ lesbians mutilating their bodies etc) .

WandsOut · 13/10/2024 11:12

@PiggleToes
I'm curious, do you think that it's wrong for lesbians to be same sex attracted?

Do you think that lesbians should be expected to include biological males who identify as women, as potential sexual partners? Penis included?

Anyone encouraging a child to medically transition starting with puberty blockers and the path set to physically altering a healthy body deserves that language
