To be glad that people are realising the effects of filler!

Just that really. It's been advertised by the media, plastic surgeons and the beauty industry for years as a safe, temporary procedure, however evidence is now finding that that is not the case at all!
I'm glad the truth is coming out now although it's still so new I expect we won't know the full damage for years too come.

I also found this video particularly interesting if anyone else is interested:

Lael Hansen is another anti filler YouTuber, I have been watching a couple of her videos lately and they are very well made. She has one video about veneers that is really interesting.

I actually just finished watching that video too. It's fucking horrendous.

I guess we all think different things look good. I think these show a definite improvement

I haven't watched the video, but the state of those of faces should be enough to scare anyone off 😬.

Reality star 'The Lip King' dodges questions over death of a woman treated at beauty clinic

A lot of these non surgical solutions are not regulated so anyone can do them, and people are either very ill, or they die. The above link is an example.

Did you watch the video? Yes it looks good, at first. Not so much a few years later.

biglipslittleblips · 09/10/2024 22:09

@KendraTheVampyrSlayer
I've known people who have had filler for a very long time. 10, 15 years. Longer than the people who have apparently had migration issues. Nothing weird has happened to their faces. They look completely normal. Every year they get a top up.

And if they get cancer at least they look good then?

@KendraTheVampyrSlayer

What are the actual stats on cancer related to filler use?

No idea. But I'm guessing like smoking was seen as perfectly healthy in the 50s and is now looked upon with disgust because we know the awful things it does to your body, It'll likely be the same with filler/botox.

It's no surprise that injecting foreign bodies into your face is going to do some damage.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 09/10/2024 22:19

Lol I’ve just booked my first ever fillers!
a little bit in my upper lip, smokers lines although I don’t smoke.
there is a cancer risk with a glass of wine, HRT, driving a car…
as with all things, if you overdo it sometimes it goes wrong.

Non surgical procedures haven't been around along enough to be regulated, so I suspect that it will be a few more years before we see actual statistics.

I don't think this is going to change the minds of people who get filler.

UmbrellaEllaEllaElla · 09/10/2024 22:33

I think in future there may be a return to a more natural look. Filler can look good at first but it starts to make people look mask-like and creepy, or sometimes even like they've had an allergic reaction/punch to the face.

Butterflygal123 · 09/10/2024 22:38

I had lip filler several times over 5 years and then had filler in my nose to mouth lines, following pregnancy it migrated and swelled and I had a hard ridge on the right side of my face.

The second picture is after having it all dissolved. Still have lines but thank god the ridges and lumps are gone. Please be careful who you go to, to have cosmetic work done.

It's such a weird fake look, at this stage i think it's about looking like you've had fillers and botox rather than looking more attractive, like fake tan in a way, no one tans to orange.

One of my cousins uses filler and botox to look younger - for work she says - but now she looks like someone who's just got lots of stuff in her face, so she could be anything from 40 to 55, when she's about 45.

I think those with filler actually look so much older than their age. It definitely has the opposite effect people are hoping for, however, I agree that these days it's more about looking like you've had filler than actually trying to enhance yourself.

Probably not. People only tend to learn the hard way.

I don't think you can compare a glass of wine to having a foreign substance injected into your face

So you don't have any stats or actual evidence of filler causing cancer but are ok with alcohol?

Alcohol is KNOWN to cause cancer. So I guess none of you drink alcohol. It would be peculiar to avoid something that has no actual cancer risk evidence whilst happily partaking in something known to increase the risks of cancer 😑

I also hope you are all of a BMI of less than 25 as having any increase in body fat is also KNOWN to increase the risks of cancer

It would be churlish to worry about something that has no evidence of cancer beyond some random person saying it does when there is hard evidence that carrying any excess body fat WILL increase your risk of cancer

The cheap high street stuff won't be doing people any good. I think there'll be a health fall out from this in a few years.

Yes, we know the risks with other substances and posters are saying that in future fillers will be similar.

It is not peculiar to avoid injecting something foreign into your body that could cause longterm side affects.

Smoking companies made it look cool to smoke and denied health issues in the earlier days.

This is the same.

Besides the filler look makes you look awful.

Grandmasswagbag · 10/10/2024 07:37

I think the look will die a death eventually. The majority of people I know irl it's looked bloody awful and very obvious. I'm sure there are great practitioners who manage a very subtle effect but the danger is people end up with more and more 'tweakments' and end up looking weird anyway. I do think as a look it's incredibly ageing. I just assume someone is 10+ years older trying hard to look young if it's obvious they've had surgery/Botox/filler.

Is hyaluronic acid safe as a substance to use on your face ?! I googled hyaluronic acid + cancer as have never heard of a link and stuff came up about pancreatic cancer but also about to being used in cancer treatments.
