I hate being ignored in shops and worry it's due to being a middle aged mum!

Went in JD sports earlier with one of the DCs . We were looking for Uggs for me and converse for DC so I was going to be spending a good £200 or more

Stood there for ages trying to get someone's attention so we could try some on and got completely blanked and ignored by the teenage staff. It wasn't even busy in there, I'd understand it more if it was

Ended up walking out muttering to dd that perhaps we'll try John Lewis instead as you get better service in there . Which made me feel even more middle Aged

Absolutely Fuck middle age and the way it makes us completely irrelevant and invisible . It really makes me feel shit . Left the house today feeling like I looked pretty good as well. But Obvs not

I'm going back a few years, but I had my heart set on a bugaboo for dd2

She was my last baby and I figured that I may as well push the boat out and buy the buggy I really wanted

Went into mothercare, and chose the one I wanted (wasn't too fussy about the colour)

I stood waiting for a shop assistant for 45 minutes,I tried walking up to staff to ask for help and tried to wave to get their attention

Nothing-they either ignored me or just walked off

I ended up at toys r us,and asked for some help, they couldn't have been more helpful

Ended up with a silver Cross buggy that saw us to the end and I ended up giving it to the charity shop in the end

Mothercare went bust a few months later,I wasn't surprised-their customer service was crap

@iloveshetlandponies , try to work on your presence. I'm smallish, 50+ and have a quiet voice. Tend to wear dark and plain clothes, definitely not glamorous. I'm practically invisible.
Some of it is me, but some of it is staff being crap.

I think it's often because I don't seem the type to kick off, so they'll see to others before me. It's not just youngsters who do the ignoring.

If I walk and talk more assertively, I get seen.

Thank you

I like to think I'm quite "noticeable" I have very brightly coloured short hair and have a nose ring and a lip stud

And (like to think) I have a sort of alternative look. like for example my outfit today was an all saints leather biker jacket , a grey cropped t shirt, black lulu lemon leggings and black and pink and black gazelles with a mini pink YSL bag . I often wear band t shirts etc
think I had similar on on Sunday

(In fact I Worry sometimes I dress too young for my age ! And that young people will think I'm tragic for that but That's another issue. And i know it's my issue and I need to work on it Ha)

Ugh that's so rubbish and annoying

I'm glad you took your business elsewhere and I bet that Pram was lovely. X

I did buy £100 of make up from no. 7 in Boots because she was the only person who actually was friendly towards me in a very large branch (with many more upmarket cosmetics concessions) interestingly she was a 50 something year old woman as am I. She even offered for me to come back on my wedding day and she would do my make up in store but alas I wasn't anywhere near home!

It was the best buggy I'd ever had
They are called the rolls Royce of prams for a reason
But I never did get my bugaboo and I really had my heart set on one xxx
