Taking an object to an interview

Okay, where do I start
I've just had a job interview confirmed and they've asked me to bring an object that best reflects my personality 😂
Never heard of this before
What does one bring? 🤔
Not strictly an AIBU but can I have some ideas please!

I'm a friendly person, get on well with everyone, reliable, will gladly be over worked 😂

Well …do you have hobbies…favourite food, item of clothing, a photograph of when you were somewhere special or fun…something that you can then talk about. I think it’s quite a good idea if that’s the way they go with it as it may help you relax and find it easier I talk about yourself.

Seriously though. If you are going to this think about what element of your personality you want to highlight for the type of job e.g. creative, adventurous, organised, risk taker, kind etc and chose an object from there

Just pick up the nearest object on your mantle piece or coffee table - they can read into it what they like!

I'd bring one single grain of sand because that would be the measure of patience I'd have to deal with such bullshit.

Do not, under any circumstances, do what a former colleague of mine did when we had the same request for a team icebreaker.

He didn’t bring anything, but explained he’d brought his heart and went into a lengthy and detailed explanation of his cardiac surgery and about what a caring and emotional person he was.

I don’t know if the intent was to stop the exercise from ever happening again, but if it was it certainly worked.

Most people brought in pictures of their pets, children or significant others. Other popular items were concert and holiday memorabilia.

Honestly, can’t think of one object that sums me up. Could turn up with my Doberman but I am guessing that wouldn’t be allowed?

What hobbies do you have OP?

Do you like dogs - could you take a (toy) labrador? They are friendly, reliable, happy to be busy so that would tie in with reflecting your personality. Bonus points if you own a labrador which is quiet enough to sit still during an interview!

Bring a tub of soil. Explain that you are very down to earth. And give them a to take the hint about their bullshit.
