I have just watched this documentary and it broke my heart.
Hamas are revolting monsters, I can't call them animals because animals wouldn't even do that.

I do wonder how the younger, very outspoken generation would:

1. Feel if that was a festival they went to and watched their friends get slaughtered
2. Have said if there were social media at the time of WW2

Would we have been viewed in the same way Israel has been? The causalities of war were far greater.

I do not support the way in which Benjamin Netanyahu is going about this war at all but I 100% agree with Israel's right to defend itself.

They seem to be the only war I can think of where a country being attacked from all sides, from countries who do want mass extermination of Jewish people (do the younger generation still get taught about the holocaust anymore) who are repeatedly being told to stand down by the west.

To remind the younger generation of previous war casualties (for anyone with the argument that this war is completely out of proportion):

WW1

• UK - 885,000 deaths
• Germany - over 2 million deaths

WW2 - is this proportionate?

• 1.5 - 3 million deaths in Germany
• 210,000 dead - Nuclear bombs into Japan

• 70,000 innocent dead - England

Iraq War

• 179 English soldiers
• 4,492 US soldiers
• 186 - 210,000 Iraqi civilians

No civilian should ever be harmed in war, it is evil however it is inevitable.
How many Jewish people should be killed for Israel to be supported in defending themselves.
So the "the death toll is completely out of proportion" argument doesn't stand.

Yes, we can go back to the time before the bible and argue who has the right to the land. But this current war was started by Hamas and Hezbollah the following day.

However, please don't try to say they want mass extermination of Jewish people just because of the land.
People spitting on a naked woman's dead body when brought back into Gaza, footage filmed by Hamas.

Lets call this what it is pure racism, just like the Nazi's, who killed 6 million Jewish people.

If genocide was the intent there wouldn’t be any Gazans left at all. Hamas and their allies are very difficult to fight. They hide behind civilians. They used child suicide bombers. They are like those Sunni insurgents who strapped explosives to women with Down’s Syndrome and remotely detonated them in crowded places in Iraq. There is no reasoning with such people.

Israel has a right to defend itself against the enemies who are determined to wipe it off the map. If war crimes have been committed in the course of this then of course justice must be served but it’s not for anyone here to say.

Falsely accusing the world’s only Jewish state of genocide, whilst having zero concern for the countries that actually do commit it, is an even worse look.

This thread is not discussing every state that commits genocide. Again, must posters list every state whose actions they are against to avoid false accusations? The thread is about the conflict in the Middle East. It is unsurprising that many people are horrified at the actions of the Israeli government given the IDF's rapidly increasing death count, majority being women and children.

You have no idea what my concerns are. Being a Jewish state does not shield them from criticism.

This is so true — people in Gaza have lost their entire families in this war, if that isn’t going to drive you to perpetuate more violence, what is!?

This is going to spark a horrible cycle of violence and we have only seen the beginning of it. No one will be safe.

There needs to be compromise on both sides,
but the more I see of both the less I see this is possible. I wish the UN had teeth. we need troops on the ground in both Gaza and Israel, preventing them from continuing this madness, Gaza and Lebanon should be evacuated of civilians into neighbouring countries as happened in Ukraine. That’s why this is a genocide — because innocent people are not being allowed to leave.

Saying return the hostages and stop the war makes it sound so simple. But sadly there is very little chance any hostages are still alive after Israel spending 12 months of razing Gaza to the ground and killing anyone who moves.

Even lots of people within Israel disagree with their response.

What made you decide to compare to the Nazis? If you believe it's a genocide, there are any number of genocidal regimes you could have chosen as a comparison? Why the Nazis?
