How on earth are we allowing porn like this to access

Puttheneedleontherackets · 30/09/2024 18:10

Surely aggressive and violent porn and all the other filth must be affecting people? I worry so much about what children get to see. Surely it must have an effect on men, it’s just so shocking the things that are out there.
We never had access to this before, just some magazines, Page 3, a few videos…what’s available now surely must have a psychological affect on people

From this article:

"a report was published in France which revealed that as much as 90 per cent of online porn featured violence towards women. ‘Women… are humiliated, objectified, dehumanised, assaulted, tortured, subjected to treatment that is contrary to both human dignity and French law… the women are real and the sexual acts are real and the violence is real. The suffering is often perfectly visible and at the same time eroticised.’ And it was also reported that more than half of 12-year-old boys in France view porn every month"

I'm so bloody sick of people trying to minimise online porn with "but women watch it too" and "it's not all violent" trying to say the violence is niche. THE VIOLENCE IS MAINSTREAM, IT'S 90% OF ALL OF IT FFS

We've seen this minimisation here, in this thread.

And for the women who watch porn too, they will take away a very different lesson than men. While men take porn as an instruction on how to do sex, women take it as an instruction on how to perform for men in sex. The orgasam gap I would wager is now a canyon.

Increasingly I see women online, young and older too, stating that in first sexual encounters with a new partner he shoves his penis in their throats, puts his hands on their necks and generally is totally selfish and abusive. They get no pleasure from this. THIS IS NEW. It didn't used to be this bad. Increasingly men can not only not pleasure their partners, they now just don't seem to care.

Young women turning up at nurses stations in school with damaged anuses. Women do not have prostrates, there is no physical reason for us to get physical pleasure from sex there, and so a tiny number of women are going to be okay with that. It sure as hell isn't gonna give us orgasam on its own.

I'm so bloody sick of porn soaked men minimising and dismissing this. It's a massive public health crisis which we can't even acknowledge because of these men, let alone find a solution for. It's a massive global experiment, and women and girls bear the brunt end of it.

There are a great many women and children (boys and girls) trafficked and abused which ends up on mainstream porn sites. It's such a problem, there have been some large cases in the USA, one of which recently forced PornHub to remove large amounts of material. Porn watchers cannot be confident the content they wank off to is consensual or not. Even that small fact should give them pause, but nope. They just don't care. I'm revolted by that behaviour.

Agree with every word surf well put. Films of any other particular racial group being brutalise works cause outrage.

Ban it. The world would be a better place.

Absofuckingloutely. Despite the whinging by some that it's too hard, you can't really ban it, you bloody well can. You can make it much much less ubiquitous, much harder for children and young people to access and much less widespread.

The CCP in China with their Great Wall manages to ban all kinds of things. Sure, people will still access it and the dark web still exists. But it's much harder to access, many fewer people will do so, women and children would be much safer and men would be healthier.

Sadly, I see very little will for banning violent online porn, and I mean mainstream 90% of porn depicting violence to women. It interferes with the boners of too many men, including those in power and decision making positions. Also, too many men not in power and not in decision making positions would have an outcry if their wank fest were to be interrupted for the safety of women and children. They just don't care about us AT ALL.

Yet again you throw out these claims with no evidence whatsoever to back them up.
But lets take a couple of your claims.
"a report was published in France which revealed that as much as 90 per cent of online porn featured violence towards women. ''
What report? The references already put on this thread have contradicted that number drastically.

From your Spectator Link.
''it was also reported that more than half of 12-year-old boys in France view porn every month. So, yes, educate your sons.''
Totally. Educate, supervise & control what your children are able to view. Don't place that responsibility on the state.

Perhaps putting a degree of perspective into your statements would be sensible.
''It's such a problem, there have been some large cases in the USA, one of which recently forced PornHub to remove large amounts of material''
Tell the truth about what material and why it was removed. It was because it was either copyright or uploaded by those who hadn't registered with a credit card.

OonaStubbs · 05/10/2024 18:56

What justification can there be for not banning it? It's not positive for anyone to watch it, adult or child.

What is it you are actually asking to be banned? As said before a child should not be watching it anyway so the parent should be dealing with their childs access.

A report by a French equality watchdog. Google is your friend.
When I mentioned the Pornhub "year in review" I said "for example". Not "read this and only this, and pick the bits that suit you". You're a grown up so convinced of your own opinion, do some work and find some evidence that porn is harmless. Bet you can't.

What do you get out of hanging around on female dominated parenting forums lecturing women about how much you love porn?

all of us women on the thread who actually see how harmful and degrading porn is should just stop interacting with this dude, he’s probably got some niche fetish about women on online forums 🙄

It's OK just ran it through a reader and what it actually says is nothing like that at all. The parameters used were not expansive enough to give a conclusion of anything like 90% was violent to women.

You read a 216 page report in what, 7 minutes? Wow.

TheaBrandt · 05/10/2024 19:21

How can you argue porn isn’t violent to women? What next? Bears don’t shit in the woods? The pope doesn’t actually pray?

No I read the parameters used. Only use sites aimed at certain niches and of course you may get the results you want.

But if you can prove different have at it. Lets see where it says 90% of ALL porn includes what you claim.

ATenShun · 05/10/2024 19:25

Why not while your at it do a little research into the journalist who is behind that report. Seems she isn't particularly lily white herself.

Puttheneedleontherackets · 05/10/2024 20:19

@ATenShun You keep referring back to chindren and how we should all be making sure they don’t view it as parents etc, 100% this goes without saying and it’s something all responsible parents do.
The discussion wasn’t solely about the damage porn could potentially do to children, we’re also discussing the violent vile porn, which seems to be considered mainstream and just normal now,
I just want to ask, a simple question, do you believe porn could potentially be having a negative effect on men and and women alike, yes or no? Do you believe it’s honestly ok for women to be represented like this?

What about other types of adult/18+ films, @Puttheneedleontherackets ? I touched on it upthread (and then forgot all about it) but what else would you prevent other adults from watching just because you disapprove of it?

As a horror fan I'm used to the occasional whirlwind of righteous indignation when a new production that pushes limits is released, and I'm also used to being told that some of us should not be allowed to watch X, Y or Z, although that's less prevalent nowadays. Do you also think that dramatic/fictional works made for the purposes of entertainment representing murder, torture, extreme violence, sexual violence, infanticide and so on should be 'banned'? If so, where do you stop and why do you think you (or whoever you propose to be in charge of this) get to police what I other adults watch?

Or are you only interested when actual sexual activity is involved, like those who would ban sex work Because Trafficking but apparently couldn't give a shit about people trafficked to work in nail bars, on farms or in factories, since I've yet to hear of anybody trying to ban any of those?

Huntcole · 05/10/2024 20:34

Its a good point about horror films. They're arguably worse than porn in what they depict, altough porn is "real"
