to find it unnecessary to blame the menopause for needing a dog to get out of the house?

watching the dog house
for example, this was a scenario

and i am sure there are other occasions when women have said Due to the menopause they now have anxiety for example
it seems unnecessary to overshare in this way on this kind of programme.
willing to be explained why i am being unreasonable for disliking this oversharing in an otherwise unrelated area.

She mentioned earlier that she was worried that all the talk about menopause could threaten her promotion, as it might be assumed she had anxiety like other menopausal women.

Honestly I found it far too much of a jump from talking about menopause, anxiety and dogs to the job thing.

it depends, i dont think so but it is a HOT topic it seems

Your issue is with how HOT a topic menopause is?

Things can seem to be everywhere once they are relevant to us. Could that be a part of it?

Not to say that more people aren't talking about menopause, but perhaps you would've tuned it out more if it wasn't already on your mind?

I'm not sure if you've been paying attention really, as everyone on Dog House seems to have some kind of 'story' as to why they are on. Off the top of my head:
Terminal illness
Husband left them
Being bullied
Being physically assaulted
Unable to have children

So is it just mention of menopause you take offence to?

I think it's just a 'makes good tele' thing isn't it? You've got to have a story; have been on a 'journey' (not an actual journey obviously). I always used to wonder if there were loads of amazing singers not making it on X Factor as they didn't have a tv worthy story.

If I'm following it correctly the OP want to lower the profile of menopause because she thinks women talking about having anxiety and other symptoms (and going so far as to go on TV needing a dog for it) will make people discriminate against her because she's also menopausal. And this would be very unfair on her, because she ( bring not like those other menopausal women) has no symptoms and actually thinks they're exaggerated because it's a 'normal life stage'. I pointed out to her earlier that discrimination against older women is as old as time, and that talking about menopause is unlikely to make any difference. But I'm not sure she was convinced.
