To be disgusted by the Deafening Silence of Celebrities in the wake of Diddy allegations?

notaurewhatusername · 29/09/2024 21:01

I can't be the only one who's deeply troubled by the silence from certain A-list celebrities following the recent allegations against Sean Combs aka Diddy. It's been weeks since the news broke, and the lack of response from some of his closest associates in the industry is, quite frankly, disturbing.

Let's talk about Jay-Z and Beyoncé, for instance. These two have been thick as thieves with him for years. Countless collaborations, public appearances, and even vacations together. And now? Radio silence. Not even a peep about condemning the alleged actions or distancing themselves from him. It's baffling.

Ashton Kutcher is another one who's keeping silent. Given his vocal stance against human trafficking and exploitation, you'd think he'd be the first to speak up. But nope, nothing.

Now, I want to tread carefully when it comes to Usher and Justin Bieber. There's been speculation about their own experiences, and if they were indeed victims themselves, I absolutely respect their right to process this privately. No one should be forced to relive trauma or speak out if they're not ready.

But for those who weren't victimised? Their silence is deafening. How hard is it to release a statement saying, "I don't condone these actions" or "I had no knowledge of these alleged crimes"? Anything would be better than this awkward void.

I'm honestly shocked that there hasn't been more public backlash against these silent celebrities. In an era where "cancel culture" can be triggered by a misplaced tweet, how are they getting a free pass? Having your longtime friend and associate arrested on such serious charges, and you can't even muster up a word of condemnation? It's beyond disappointing.

What do you all think? Am I being too harsh, or is this silence truly inexcusable? Should we, as consumers and fans, be demanding more accountability from these public figures?

The Epstein debacle should not be allowed to stand. The government (Feds) have the list and the info, and they should release it and let the chips fall where they may. It is wrong and quite disgusting to know that we have sexual predators out there that have not been named.

I believe the 'list' is available on YouTube if you dig a little...

yesmen · 30/09/2024 03:22

Agreed @AnnoyedAsAllHeck

@notaurewhatusername - I wonder if this thing with P Diddy is a music industry wide thing. Weinsetin was an abuser who operated solo.

Epstein/ Maxwell seemed to supply very young girls for much older men.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I think a lot of media are nervous of the story because at the center of it is Black music performers and Black music.

I also think that the abused are sex workers who are more than likely young, more than likely poor and more than likely substance abusers. I am not sure how many people care about them.

50 cent's doc has been picked up by Netflix. It's been reported on Variety dot com.

What a daft leap to make

This thread is wild and bound to be pulled

People like scandal mongering. There's a lot of it on facebook.

The fact is, at the moment, we really don't know very much. There's no point in speculating. Let's just wait and see.

MayaPinion · 30/09/2024 04:22

Why would anyone make a comment in the middle of a trial? That would be a bonkers thing to do.

HoppingPavlova · 30/09/2024 05:24

or they are expecting to be called up at trial and their legal team have told them not to comment

This. There will be a whole host of people who will potentially be called as witnesses whose legal teams will have advised to say nothing. That’s pretty much a certainty. You are asking why people are going against their legal advice and not speaking out to satisfy you? Bonkers.

Obeseandashamed · 30/09/2024 05:35

@SonicTheHodgeheg I also remember an interview where he said the one thing that he wished he could go back and change would be to have stayed celibate until marriage. I thought that was a strange thing for a young man to say.

BippityBopper · 30/09/2024 05:36

I find it hard to believe those who attended his parties were unaware of the shenanigans.

I'm sure Justin Beiber gave hint to it in a song (although I can't be sure), Khloe Kardashian mentioned his dodgy parties before too. Katt Williams did a a few skits on industry parties which allegedly caused the damage to his career. He also blatantly called Diddy out and said he would be exposed just before this all came to light publicly.

notaurewhatusername · 30/09/2024 05:38

@fallenbranches I forgot about the lift thing! Maybe he's done something even worse than cheat on her. I think he's shady

Paying victims didn't help Weinstein. People poured out of the woodwork to condemn Weinstein before he ever went to trial. All we heard when he and Cosby were charged was the #MeToo movement. Now, it's all quiet. Why this time?
If we believe some women and what they say, how come we aren't believing them now?

Exactly this

I think it is the right thing to say nothing until he is sentrnced.

I think silence speaks loudly. Their publicists have advised them to keep schtum for good reason.

P Diddy is an incredibly powerful man I have no doubt he / or his minions could quiet someone pretty quickly if necessary. There are some worrying rumours about both Biggie and Tupac and their demises but I'm sure it will all come out eventually.

Public figures do not owe us anything. They share their art with the public we have no right to the rest of their lives

Edited

Share their art or sell their art? Public has a right to decide to disassociate with businesses not aligned with their values.

ImCamembertTheBigCheese · 30/09/2024 06:00

Some of them have no idea what he has on them, so they say nothing in case he releases it.

I don't know who he is. Was he one of those who used to work with Ken Dodd?

@UmbrellaEllaEllaElla exactly but I wish they would all lose their followers as a result of this as it's completely wrong.

If I had a best mate that was arrested for a crime I'd say SOMETHING.

It's safe to say I won't attend a Beyoncé concert again

What would you say and to whom? (If your best mate being accused of such crimes?

I've been listening to some youtu.be videos on this in the past few days funnily enough. There are allegations of drugging and sexual assault and rape at these parties, victims have come forward. People are worried that a very successful young male pop star may have been a victim. People are also saying that daddy's wife was about to go public with the publishing of her own diaries detailing the videos she had found in the vault and she mysteriously died of pneumonia at the age of 47 shortly before the book was to be published... the book wasn't published. Allegations go wider than with Diddy himself but it goes back to abuse of power and sexual abuse etc. 1000 bottle of baby oil were found by the police. No one is speaking because so many people were involved with it. We are potentially looking at the crumbling of the American music industry.

Lampzade · 30/09/2024 06:54

This man recorded his parties where people indulged in questionable activities.
Some of these celebrities probably attended these parties and are petrified that the videos will be released
Hollywood and the entertainment business are full of nefarious characters who are often involved in satanic rituals.
I don’t think there will be a trial tbh. Diddy will meet the same fate as Epstein….

fallenbranches · 29/09/2024 22:59

I'm sure they are all being advised by lawyers. At this stage it would be very very dangerous to comment publicly. The whole industry seems like a massive cult. When I look back on Justin Bieber throughout the years, saw him start as a cute talented singer always smiling then turning aggressive, lashing out at journalists etc...I used to think 'what an arrogant knob', but now I really wonder what happened to him to change him so much. It's really sad. Beyoncé is basically controlled by her husband 100%. I cannot listen to her 'female empowering' hypocritical songs as a result of this. The sister lashing out at him in the lift said it all to me.

Agree that Beyonce is controlled by her husband. He started ‘dating’ her when she was about seventeen and he was in his early thirties
She once collaborated with a Jamaican rapper . She performed with him live at a show but her husband was jealous and banned her from performing with this man.
The rapper alluded to this in an interview.

Adventurerno24 · 30/09/2024 07:05

I think it's absolutely fascinating.

I think we should give the women, like Beyoncé, the benefit of the doubt.

This is men being toxically masculine. Let's not blame it on the few women adjacent to it.

I agree

Its not for women to correct men’s behaviour and women are not responsible for men’s behaviour

I doubt there are any women in the music industry that have not had to deal with aggressive male toxic behaviour

But what would you say? Arrested isn't charged and charged isn't found guilty. You would have to be very careful what you said as often, once the dust settles and cases are concluded, the outcome is not what people expected and egg is very much on faces.

If I had a friend who was arrested. I would keep my gob shut unless court ordered otherwise.
