An excoriating letter from Rosie Duffield who resigned today..

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/rosie-duffield-resignation-letter-starmer-labour-b2620603.html#comments-area

Been bad enough for her to resign, I wonder what will happen next. Does she know something we don’t?

Rosie Duffield’s resignation letter in full

Rosie Duffield has quit as a Labour MP, attacking Sir Keir Starmer’s “cruel and unnecessary policies” and the freebie row engulfing the party.

Absolute bullshit they haven't spent any more than what the tories have done and yes 10 weeks which is fuck all time to sort out the mess tories have done. Given into unions you say oh the workers yes people that need more wages as tories have not paid them right which meant hours wasted not working vosting tye economy more like health care doctors etc so they sorted that
If a labour donor wants to give them money so be it Boris Johnson had 900000 with if gifts vasty shit load more than starmer

Honestly that’s just so embarrassingly bad I’m not even going to answer past the discussion isn’t about they should habe sorted out this mythical mess the tories made,

it’s about Labour top brass on the take.

SaturdayMorningRun · 28/09/2024 21:00

He's far more decent then Nigel farage or any tory right now. Shall we talk democracy those that are sniping admit if uou like reform or the tories because Nigel made it so he can't be got rid off in his party or the vast amount of gifts Boris got but that's OK right .

None of it is ok. Farage and Boris are disgusting, but so is Starmer.

If all you can say is Starmer is 'more decent' that those those two.....well, it's a low bar.

Staunchlystarling · 28/09/2024 20:55

Really? Didn’t see Rishi taking the pensioners fuel allowances or boris for that matter,

never saw Rishi taking free holidays and clothes. Indulging in nepotism, and don’t say it’s as he’s rich. Starmers worth 8 million and doesn’t need free clothes or holidays.

Yes ge did shit loads of free helicopter rides plus other stuff to thing is the tories had stuff starmer came out and owned up what nepotism? Starmer chikd isn't in politics
Oh this about the winter fuel allowance sore pensioners pull the other one most of them give it away to charity or buy Christmas presents with it

Women kept on asking him what a woman was. He could never give a straight answer. To me, it just showed his lack of any integrity or moral compass, so I'm not Surprised he's performed so poorly. Man has no vision or courage. And he's just made one bad decision after another.

Wish Rosie was the leader tbh, she's in a completely different league to him.

Won't surprise me if this is the shortest Labour government in history, or if Reform get in next time.

Won't surprise me if this is the shortest Labour government in history

If it’s this or another Labour leader I’ll take this

The rest are even more dire

noidea02 · 28/09/2024 21:00

Did people really not see this coming? It was all very obvious before the election!

Rummly · 28/09/2024 20:58

Your first line has nothing to do with the rest of your post.

🙄

So you did miss the part about me not being a tribal Labour voter. Never mind, I’ve said it for you again. No need for you to make silly accusations now.

ChallahPlaiter · 28/09/2024 20:50

Cracks me up when people claim Labour has a problem with women. Nope, they just don’t indulge in voter-pleasing culture wars. Now the Tories really do have a woman problem. Their policies disproportionately harm women and always have. But hey, they’re opposed to trans rights and to the swivel-eyed that makes them raging feminists.

Though there have at least been 2 female PMs under the conservatives (I’m not counting Truss 🤣) as well as an Asian one, when all we get from the left is a string of stale white middle aged men

Uh huh. And Thatcher did so much for women and there was definitely no racism from Mr Sunak.

Stale, pale and male = misogynistic, arrogant and patronising.

Hopefully not enough racist thick twats to vote reform i mean maybe they like fascists that don't want to be overthrown. Farage is like trump in that stance they don't want to be chucked out hate democracy putin apologist

Well yes but you only have to look at mn for the few years up to the GE to see how anyone with doubts got huge amounts of flack from Labour faithfuls

But that’s not why people don’t warm to Keir.
He is disingenuous and a hypocrite.

He’s behaving more like a Tory than the Tories and people didn’t vote for that.

Of course that serves them right (the people that is) for not voting for Corbyn because the press told them not to. Didn't they realise would mean another closet Tory leading the party? Though in passing I note that Corbyn actually got more votes than Starmer - not sure what that proves.

Yep it actually really did because I was engaging in civilised debate and then started being sworn at. Really hit home that some people just can't bear criticism of their beliefs. Plus it was ludicrously childish and pathetic ie school ground name calling

Of course most people saw this coming, but with our shitty non-democratic fptp electoral system, what choice did we actually have?

Politics in this country is broken. Someone would have to be an idiot to think that the majority have any say at all.

2k2j · 28/09/2024 21:06

She’s right.

One of his main selling points was his principles, which evidently don’t exist.

Of course.

But I'd say people will be filtering out a huge amount of stuff right now to keep that up

So you can relax and feel pretty good, even if they were immensely personal and on the attack

Nor do hers apparently. She’s just made fools of everyone who voted for her under false pretences.

Yep. It went in both directions I can assure you.
