To buy 3 year old DD dinosaurs for Christmas?

My little girl (3) loves dinosaurs at the moment, every time I pick her up from nursery they say she's loved playing with the little toy dinosaur set and doing all the noises etc.

We are making a start on buying her Christmas presents this month and I mentioned to a friend I was thinking about getting her some toy dinosaurs as she doesn't have any at home. Friend commented that it was "funny" and "a bit odd" to buy them for a girl. And "bet it's like having a boy". I mean, she also has some Elsa dolls in her Christmas present pile, so it's a mixture of girly and less girly type presents!

Is my DD "odd" for liking dinosaurs at 3 years old?! 🤔

Obviously it’s fine.

TheIncredibleBookEatingManchot · 28/09/2024 09:40

Of course it's not odd for a three year old to like dinosaurs.

Your friend's odd for thinking it's odd.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 28/09/2024 09:41

Your friend is the odd one.

MamasitaGringita · 28/09/2024 09:41

Your friend has very out-dated views. Of course it's OK to buy dinosaurs for your daughter.

Literally don't know anyone who would actually say these words to me.

perhaps our social circles are wildly different.

LadyKenya · 28/09/2024 09:42

Eh? Just ignore silly comments.

NewtyCutey · 28/09/2024 09:42

I'm surprised that your friend even thinks this way, let alone comments.

SantasRubiksCube · 28/09/2024 09:42

Your friend is a close minded idiot, there's no such thing as toys just for boys or just for girls 🙄 buy your daughter the dinosaurs, I bet she will love them.

dinosaurgirll · 28/09/2024 09:43

Thanks everyone! I suspected as much but I just had a moment of self doubt, not sure why. I mean she followed it up with a laughing emoji so it was sort of a jokey comment too; but also has made me feel a bit judged.

It's fine, I was a little dinosaur girl. Loved them to bits and dragged my poor parents around The Natural History Museum most weekends.

Bamboozledbylife · 28/09/2024 09:43

Your friend is ridiculous! Seen some v cute dinosaur bedding in asda recently 😊

Blessedbethefruitz · 28/09/2024 09:43

You're being unreasonable if you haven't considered remote control dinosaurs ;) There are cute little car ones for toddlers, as well as roaring ones.

Halfscottish · 28/09/2024 09:43

Oh come on. Of course it’s fine.

I don't understand the question

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 28/09/2024 09:44

Has your friend time travelled here from the 1950s?

LostittoBostik · 28/09/2024 09:44

Drop that friend, jeeez

ForeveraBluebird · 28/09/2024 09:44

Dinosaurs are great fun, look out for the old ELC volcano world on eBay. My children loved it,

ButtSurgery · 28/09/2024 09:45

I'm 44 and female and I wear dinosaur tshirts and jumpers. I play Jurassic World on Xbox and I adore the Jurassic Park franchise, watch them through most months.

Did your friend time travel here from the 50s?

Haha this made me laugh 😆
She's a relatively new friend so I guess she has views that I'm only just discovering. This one threw me a bit though.

What is it about dinosaurs that make them for a boy only?

If she was into elephants, monkeys, dolphins, giraffes, lions is this OK? Why are dinosaurs different?

snoopyfanaccountant · 28/09/2024 09:46

One of the supermarkets had gorgeous toddler dresses with dinosaurs on them last winter. Would your friend have the same attitude if your DD liked a different animal?

StolenChanel · 28/09/2024 09:46

This can’t be a real post…
