I'm in a newish job and need to fill in expenses for the first time. I'm owed about £300 for taxis for September.
Can I get the bloody thing to attach my receipts no i cannot. Just spent the last hour trying to do it. Arghhhhhh!
I actually miss Concur.
I think i hate this more than MS project and that's saying a lot.
What's piece of software/work equipment do you hate?

Edge (not the browser. Some weird IBM thing) iKnow, greenway, pivotal and lotus notes.

I think you’ll find it’s formatted EDGE. The procedure’s team will get you if you format it wrong Wink

I quite like OneDrive (unpopular opinion!).

OneNote pisses me off that I can't @ or assign a task to someone and keep that collaboration in the notebook. I don't want to email the page - otherwise I'd have just written an email summary of the notes in the bloody first place!! I also don't want to set them a task on their Outlook because what kind of monster does that to someone else's inbox??!! It's such an obvious gap and it annoys me every time I use it.

I miss old Outlook where you had the option to add a file or a note to a meeting invite you'd accepted. If I got meeting papers separately, I could drop that doc or email into my version of the invite and save it - so handy for not having to go searching for a separate message when you're busy and on meeting 4 of 367363763 that day. Also super handy for when you do PA cover for someone else's inbox - because you could put a couple of lines of briefing notes in for them.

Our sharepoint is neatly organised in folders and sub folders just like our old network drive.

This. I end up copying and pasting messages l get on Teams chats and emailing them to myself as otherwise I will just forget I've seen it and not do the task.

You can email them to yourself through Teams - a ridiculous workaround, but I was doing the same as you and then you lose the original thread.

Annoyingly though, it doesn't ever think I want to email myself - despite doing it multiple times a week. So I have to type in my whole email address 🤦

Couldyounot · 28/09/2024 08:49

In no particular order:
SAP
iTrent
Authenticator
Teams
SharePoint

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 28/09/2024 09:39

Authenticator.

I have to unlock my phone (crappy SE, 8 digits), then unlock Authenticator (8 digits) put password into what I'm accessing, reconfirm it's me, twice on Authenticator, then have 30 seconds to get the code in. Fucks me right off.

Mammyloveswine · 28/09/2024 11:26

Google docs.. I despise it!

iManage - fussy, unhelpful garbage.

inTapp time recording system - as above!

Ah.... I see my people....

I understand that 'theoretically' iManage has a lot of functionality but we seem to have gone for the budget option.

PDF Docs is the most painful way of compiling pdf docs / pages ever, but we're too tight apparently to pay for everyone to have an Adobe Edit license (albeit time wasted by trainees on PDF Docs would definitely cover the cost of this).

And the Surface Pro. That's been my biggest bugbear, I think it's the shittest bit of hardware that's just not up to the task. The stupid little stand thing really pisses me off.

Lemonyfuckit · 28/09/2024 11:33

I don't mind Teams too much in that broadly my team uses it as I think it should be - for v v brief short questions that can be answered off the top of your head / yes no that kind of thing and for calling / video calls. If someone (and it's only the younger people in the team) tries to share a document with me in Teams though I hate it, please just email it to me so I'll be able to file it and find it in the future.

I did a secondment once to a place though where they use the damn thing for everything and think it means they'll get instantaneous responses on stuff even though it's not a simple question / task and requires thinking about and reading a document etc and it was just morning til night Teams ping ping ping chasing all the time if they didn't get an answer quick enough. Use email, and your question / task will go in my to do list and I'll prioritise accordingly and until then, kindly fuck off.

The new version of Microsoft Visio is terrible. Doesn’t have half the symbols I want, and as they are standard in BPMN or UML it always takes me half an hour to convince myself that they aren’t there, rather than that I can’t find them. And half the ones that are there can’t be resized, for reasons no sane person can understand.

I'm a teacher and I've yet to find a decent student information system- SIMS is my nemesis!

Please give me SIMs anyday we have been saddled with ARBOR and it is way worse and I could cry every time I need to find a teachers time table on this system 😭😭. It is so rubbish.

MigGril · 28/09/2024 13:30

Oh and several people have just reminded me google bloody docs. It's bloody useless and I always end up having to download documents and opening them in actual word so the formatting is correct. Google docs never works right.

mrssquidink · 28/09/2024 13:40

I quite like Teams 🫣 But we only use it for calls/meetings and inane chitchat important work related messages.

I loathe Authenticator so much that I get texts sent to my phone instead with a login code. The day they remove this option, I may not be responsible for my actions.

Also our HR and finance system. The most user unfriendly piece of software I have ever had the misfortune to use. Any time I want to do anything on it, I have to go and look up the instructions. I keep being told that digital tech starts with user needs. This has never been anywhere near an end user.

Not used at work, but my daughter’s school uses Arbor and it’s so bad I actually miss parentpay.

I've been using Visio since before Microsoft bought it in the late 90s. Every new version is worse than the last. Every new version throws away my carefully crafted custom ribbon rather than the stock one which hides everything useful. And every new version introduces some new "You vaguely moved this shape close to that one? That must mean you want them to snap together / connect / get irrevocably married to each other" utterly pointless arse ache. I swear I waste more time fighting Visio's "helpfulness" than actually achieving what I want to achieve.

Still, it's better than Project. Performing my own vasectomy with a rusty tin lid is better than Project.

BashfulClam · 28/09/2024 13:59

Our envelope machine thingy it just jams every fifth letter so you have to open the bugger up and unjam it. It hates me!

If this is a common way for authenticator to work, I now understand the hatred for it. I only use mine when I want to log in from home (which is rare). My phone is set up not to lock when it's at my home, so no need to unlock it. A notification pops up which I click on, it expands, I type in the 2 digit number that's appeared on my laptop and click yes, then confirm with face recognition (so I just make sure I'm looking at the phone. I don't need to open or log into the authenticator app.

Same! I don't understand the hate for it. Ditto OneDrive. I save everything on my work OneDrive because it can then always be recovered.

Any software which requires you to change password every 1-2 months and you can never have the same password and next password has to be completely different. So can’t have Lemoncake2 if you just had Lenoncake1

...and has to be insanely long with special characters that you can't find on a forreign keyboard...

MidnightBlossom · 28/09/2024 20:11

Oh fucking Visio. I came this close to rage smashing my laptop last week. Just trying to sort out a basic process flow left me enraged.

toooldforbrat · 28/09/2024 20:20

Box! Can never find a bloody thing!

Sharepoint excel: why don't pivots work. I recreated the EXACT document in sharepoint excel that I had in old excel. The odd piece of data in some of the pivots were wrong. So I created it again and it's still wrong and cannot for the life of me figure it out. So now I do a data dump into old excel, refresh the pivots and copy and paste into the sharepoint version. Everyone I work with hates excel and IT are crap so I've no idea how to solve it

Do ppl just type "onedrive" or "sharepoint" in to Explorer to get to it? Basic question i know but it seems a faff to get to it

Basilsage · 30/09/2024 08:01

the way Word and Outlook have had the spell check feature replaced by Editor which just does not let you work so quickly. The version of Outlook we have still has the traditional spell check if you have the option to spell check before sending but it takes me courage to click send for a long email that has not been fully proof read.

Basilsage · 30/09/2024 08:05

one more! Google assistant, listening all the time to give unsolicited prompts on questions. Hello, how can I help? By getting lost. Clearly company do not want a quick and clear option to disable made clear.
