I'm in a newish job and need to fill in expenses for the first time. I'm owed about £300 for taxis for September.
Can I get the bloody thing to attach my receipts no i cannot. Just spent the last hour trying to do it. Arghhhhhh!
I actually miss Concur.
I think i hate this more than MS project and that's saying a lot.
What's piece of software/work equipment do you hate?

Going against the grain, I've very rarely ever had a problem with printers over the last couple decades, at work or at home.

However, pretty much everything Microsoft makes nowadays (excluding Excel but especially Teams!) can burn. We're at the point where every update serves to either break a feature or remove it entirely 🤦🏼‍♀️

CMOTDibbler · 27/09/2024 19:01

Sharepoint is so incredibly rubbish it is unbelievable. The frigging document signing functionality inside it is designed to send you to an early grave.
Concur is better now (though still frustrating) but at one point I hated it so much that I applied for a product manager job with the company just so I could discuss the lack of user testing

SomeKindOfPermanentlyExhaustedPigeon · 27/09/2024 19:02

Can't see if it's been mentioned yet, but SuccessFactors can be added to the list for me.

I like Jira!Grin
It may depend on what you're using it for and how well it's been configured?

I detest the in-house system that we're forced to use instead of it for customer issues. It's clunky, not intuitive at all. Lots of mystifying TLAs which possibly make more sense if you're French though I'm not convinced.

I was beginning to think I was really odd for liking Jira! I agree it may well depend on the config and what you use it for.

I hate Sharepoint, and I lasted a day with new outlook before I reverted back.

ESR and Healthroster for NHS HR/leave/appraisals stuff are appalling and can, get in the bin. ESR looks like it was designed by a 5 year old.

polydactylfeline · 27/09/2024 16:31

🤣🤣🤣I feel your pain

Intrigued to know what you hate about jira? I like it but may well use it for something different to you and have different config.

SwedishEdith · 27/09/2024 19:23

MS Forms. It has the most unintuitive options for sharing with collaborators versus respondents.

Teams is fine if for quick chats. But every call sets up another chat. And then you get the purists who tell everyone they're doing Teams wrong and should only use team channels - which no one sees or responds to.

Quite like Word. Feels like a safe space.

Mabelface · 27/09/2024 19:27

Citrix and PeopleSoft

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 27/09/2024 19:36

We're building an intranet using SharePoint. I'm lobbying for it to be called ScarePoint.

lolaran · 27/09/2024 19:43

Inflectra, there are no words to describe how shit it is.

DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace · 27/09/2024 19:45

Ponderingwindow · 27/09/2024 14:45

Workday

whoever designed that should be fired

out of a cannon into the sun

using it to record complicated time sheets is a massive, unpaid, time suck

Workday is the worst. It couldn't be less intuitive if it tried. I don't have to use it often, but when I do it's always a complete nightmare.

DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace · 27/09/2024 19:48

Scautish · 27/09/2024 17:17

I fucking LOVE excel. It is awesome.

if I’m overwhelmed I’ll find something to do on it to calm me.

teams is shit with all of its channel nonsense.

Ooh I agree.

Excel and alteryx are my favourites

Motnight · 27/09/2024 19:49

SharePoint is shit.

Another Workday hater here. Just terrible.

FUCKING MICROSOFT TEAMS!!!!
😡😡😡😡😡😡

THiS 😡😡😡😡😡

bluecomputerscreen · 27/09/2024 19:55

yes to sharepoint

and ai assist that takes over what you want to write and you have to disable it and start again. like having a toddler 'helping' with cooking.

MidnightBlossom · 27/09/2024 19:56

Don't mind SharePoint.

Hardly ever use Word any more.

Live in Excel and mostly love it.

Teams is OK, but I wish there was an option to export your chosen Teams channels to your chat notification bar. I CBA clicking on the activity button - I like the chat preview because that way I can decide whether to mute, mark as read or reply without going into the actual conversation.

Jira - meh. Confluence is OK but it would be better if you could have parent/child structures where comments are made, and a summary export, to save you having to search through Melanie the Product Manager's 101 new ideas on how we could do things better....

Loathe Workday. It's completely unfit for purpose as an HR system. The only system worse is Concur, which in 22 years of corporate work is THE WORST EXPENSES SYSTEM I HAVE EVER USED. So much so, that I wonder if they sell it to firms on the basis that it will save them money, because their staff will lose the will to live and not bother submitting their expenses claims.

Much as it pains me, MS Copilot is quite useful. It's not a failsafe and not the one-stop replacement that's advertised. But it's like having a virtual PA, which is very handy when you're trying to find an email you know you filed somewhere. Or when the marketing manager - who is allergic to brevity - sends you his latest thoughts. All 35 pages of them.

HellsAngel81 · 27/09/2024 19:57

Another vote for Authenticater app.

Provet - I argue with that fecking system everyday.

MidnightBlossom · 27/09/2024 19:59

My authenticator is OK. But has a rather draconian approach to presence. If you do anything more time-consuming than a quick wee, it will disconnect, tell everyone you're offline, and force you to re-authenticate to get back in.

I suspect it was a Victorian mill-overseer in its former life.

CeliaCanth · 27/09/2024 20:00

iManage - fussy, unhelpful garbage.

inTapp time recording system - as above!

Berga · 27/09/2024 20:04

MS Project can go fuck itself.

New outlook can join it.

Jira can fuck off and then when it gets there it can fuck off some more.

Papyrophile · 27/09/2024 20:07

Another vote for hating printers... software, drivers, temperamental bastards all of them!

Justploddingonandon · 27/09/2024 20:11

Teams. I used to think it was ok as we only used it for chats/meetings/calls but since the 'new teams' half the time it won't even tell me when someone's calling, especially in team chats. Also DD's school use it for homework but it seems to be configured in an entirely different way that takes me ages to work out how to do anything.
And don't get me started on Sharepoint.

RollerSkateLikePeggy · 27/09/2024 20:12

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 27/09/2024 19:36

We're building an intranet using SharePoint. I'm lobbying for it to be called ScarePoint.

Known as "ShitePoint" by several of my team!
I hate Teams and would also love to go back to having file shares. Can't understand why searching in Outlook is an issue for some PPs as I use it all the time and seems to work for me, not that that is any consolation to anyone else.

I've also never used a decent timesheet system, they all leave me dying inside.

Ohnobackagain · 27/09/2024 20:14

@Stressedgiraffe @Ponderingwindow I agree about Workday. And Salesforce. Both let you spend ages then you press some button and they then say ‘can’t do that’ instead of being designed not to let you click through where you shouldn’t. Or they say ‘you didn’t complete this, and that, and the other’. Both diabolical and infuriating. I think Salesforce is worse though.

Back in the say we had Captura for expenses and that was rubbish, too. Can you guess what we called it? 🤯😂

DoughnutDingo · 27/09/2024 20:19

Workday is a pile of shit. No matter what type of user you might be, it doesn't work. It's truly awful.

Anything built on SAP. How it's become so endemic must be down to it being used for business critical functions then you can't back out of using it

Fucking parentpay regularly makes me cry with frustration. Literally.

Showbie is designed by idiots.

The Expressions school Comms app.

In fact I've never seen a piece of educational software that made me think that the A team designed it. It's like that's where terrible developers retire.

Western digital apps. Dog shit software which is the worst, but shame because the hardware is decent.

At work we have really stupid, old school ways of working like using SharePoint and stuff you can't easily version control or share permissions on without it being a ball ache.

I'm convinced if we could replace some of this crap software our economy and general stress levels/road rage incident levels etc would be doing do much better as a society.
