I'm in a newish job and need to fill in expenses for the first time. I'm owed about £300 for taxis for September.
Can I get the bloody thing to attach my receipts no i cannot. Just spent the last hour trying to do it. Arghhhhhh!
I actually miss Concur.
I think i hate this more than MS project and that's saying a lot.
What's piece of software/work equipment do you hate?

Workday
It has actually made my life better in a surprising way
I'm a freelancer, so apply for ~120 or so contracts a month
Workday is such utter shite that I will not apply for roles that require it
Then my gf reminded me, that all, and I mean each and every one, of my bad contracts with bad clients have been ones that use Workday
So by refusing to apply for roles that need Workday keeps me away from working for clients that use it, and my life is better

Sharepoint
Choice one: Have 65535 bookmarks to documents you need
Choice two: Download everything you need and hope that every other poor sod hates it so much they never try to update an existing document
Choice three: Pen and paper

Word
I just never use it
I write everything in Libre Office - which has these weird quirks of not screwing about with formatting to what it thinks you want, nor adding random shit to the ribbon, nor asking you eighteen times per document if I want to save to the cloud, or share with Teams, or translate (and my German is better than Word's) - and then saving it as an ODF for others to open in whatever they like
Sometimes, new Word is so bad I actually miss Clippy...

Outlook
It's been shite since it was introduced back in the '90s and has steadily got worse with every new version
Things that used to work, don't, and new e.g. search features are either unwanted or make things unfindable

Various authenticators
Are all hateful and the number of organisations that have set it up only to work with Crapple phones makes me want to scream
See Workday above though - it's a reliable guide that I won't want to work for that client when they start emails with "Use your iPhone to ..." or only provide Crapple links to download things

Only eight years to retirement ...

rayofsunshine86 · 27/09/2024 23:18

Jira
Workday
Netsuite

OliveHenry · 27/09/2024 23:23

I like Excel on the whole, but regularly curse whoever decided one the order of the "save as options"

Application name? Nope.

File extension? Nope.

Utterly random based on the day of the week/zodiac sign/weather forecast? With flavours of .csv randomly sprinkled? Why yes, that sounds perfect!

CornflakeGirl18 · 27/09/2024 23:24

In my workplace we were told to use Teams rather than email and Sharepoint rather than email attachments. That messaging lasted a very short time.
I don't mind Teams for calls and chat but all my files are synced so I can access through Explorer like in the old days of network drives.

ichundich · 27/09/2024 23:43

Asana. Just awful - squashed layout, difficult to navigate between tasks and sort them into categories.

MamaAndTheSofa · 27/09/2024 23:44

I always feel like Microsoft keep updating Word, Excel etc, when what they need to do is start from scratch with them every 10 years or so. Stop piling extra functionality onto old software; build it from scratch with modern work practices and standards in mind.

I recently had to built an intranet using SharePoint; it's almost brilliant (when you actually get into coding your own page elements) but there are so many basic things you can't do. And organising file permissions is a nightmare! Onedrive is also a nightmare- and why have both anyway when they basically do the same thing?!

MamaAndTheSofa · 27/09/2024 23:46

Oh, and a special vote for MS Planner. It's so basic it's almost laughable. You can't really do anything in it; how on Earth they don't have something a bit more sophisticated by this stage is beyond me.

Civilservant · 27/09/2024 23:48

Cathartic thread!

Down with Word!

Yellowtrouser · 27/09/2024 23:54

SomethingFun · 27/09/2024 15:19

I see someone said Jira and I raise you Confluence - I think they are both made by Atlassian and I literally have no idea why software companies have to work with such god awful software. Also workday is terrible I agree.

I quite like Jira but dislike Confluence
Like op also dislike Comcur. Trying to like Draw.i.o but mourning visio that we longer have

SisterImpera · 27/09/2024 23:55

AnnPerkins · 27/09/2024 15:21

Two words.

New. Fucking. Outlook.

I hate it and it hates me. We are in a mutual fight to the death.

YES!!!
New Outlook Designer: “We’re just going to get rid of the refresh button. No one ever wants to quickly make sure their mailbox is up to date - emails are never important or time critical, are they? And if they really insisted on seeing emails that arrived within the last hour, they could just shut down the whole application and restart it anyway, that’s just as easy as clicking a button.”

strangeandfamiliar · 28/09/2024 00:01

MaryLennoxsScowl · 27/09/2024 22:29

Is new Outlook the version where you search by the name of the colleague who emailed you yesterday, and it pulls up three possible options: an email from that person sent ten years ago (which it got out of your archive folder that neither you nor IT can access when you want something); an email by someone else with a name starting with the same letter; and the draft email you began to the correct person that only says ‘Hi X’ on it?

This x 1000!

ErrolTheDragon · 28/09/2024 00:04

I seem to have evaded this 'new Outlook' through laziness luck. It's not the easiest thing to search but it's not too bad. And the filters put mails in the folders I want, unlike the gmail I've got on my own devices which seems to have a (stupid) mind of its own.

Gremlinsateit · 28/09/2024 00:13

All billing systems are awful. A special shout out to Collaborati which seems to have a design feature of preventing you from billing.

New Outlook is dreadful. Where’s the command to block the spam sender?? Luckily so far I can switch back to the old version.

But Teams is the absolute worst and should be launched into the sun. It hates me right back too.

DoYouReally · 28/09/2024 00:24

I have never found an expenses system that isn't a pain in the ass.

Does an easy snap, save & submit system even exist?

blueshoes · 28/09/2024 00:27

Every platform that my dcs' schools roll out for giving them homework, assignments and communications has been shite.

Looks like Sharepoint that is not properly configured or labelled. Each teacher uses it differently and stores stuff where they want to. It is a labyrinthe and rabbit hole. I feel for my dcs. Damn the teachers and the school.

BlunderMifflin · 28/09/2024 00:28

I'm so glad to see so many other people despise Workday here. We should set up a support group.

That and PingID. Jesus wept. Recently been updated, now have to press more things and take longer to get into arsing Workday.

Oh you want to look at your P60? We'll send you a notification when it's ready. But it's ready immediately because I get the notification immediately so why tell me about getting a notification "when it's ready" like you're having to send someone out to the archives to personally hunt for it? Everything about it is stupid. Submitting holiday requests 😫

ThatAgileLimeCat · 28/09/2024 00:35

HelloCanYouHearMe · 27/09/2024 17:00

JIRA
SharePoint
MS Project

Are all software packages that can fuck off as far as i'm concerned, but my real vitriol is saved for SuccessFactors - I dont know if its common across the board or just the way its been implemented at my company but as a platform designed to manage staff records it really is the biggest bag of dogshit i've ever come across.... even worse than iTrent

Wow there are other poor bastards out there stuck with success factors? I thought I had killed kittens in a precious life to deserve that level of hell.

grinandslothit · 28/09/2024 00:41

Teams is terrible

Any school LMS

All this bad software is evidence men really don't know how to design anything

SunnyDaySummer · 28/09/2024 00:44

I really miss when people stored files in network drives that looked just like windows folders. Hate trying to find files on Teams or sharepoint.

Also hate that it’s harder to email someone an attachment now, it always tries to send a link.

TheEyesOfLucyJordon · 28/09/2024 00:54

chewingthefurnishings · 27/09/2024 14:46

FUCKING MICROSOFT TEAMS!!!!
😡😡😡😡😡😡

I hear you 😍

SunnyDaySummer · 28/09/2024 01:00

Anyone else notice in Outlook that their outgoing drafts are sometimes saved in the Inbox folder now? Why?

Spybot · 28/09/2024 01:27

Icertis legal document management software. It's torture.

lettucedge · 28/09/2024 02:08

PLM & ERP on my computer at work . CRAP.

NoNoNona · 28/09/2024 02:09

I love Jira, but then I have been working with it since 2006 and it very much depends on how it was configured and what profile you have.
Hate SAP CRM, you click yourself silly and there is no consistency in the way masks behave.
Word used to be OK (version 2.0c) but is pretty rubbish. However, I suspect 90% of its users actually have no idea how to use it effectively - paragraph tagging anyone?
