I'm in a newish job and need to fill in expenses for the first time. I'm owed about £300 for taxis for September.
Can I get the bloody thing to attach my receipts no i cannot. Just spent the last hour trying to do it. Arghhhhhh!
I actually miss Concur.
I think i hate this more than MS project and that's saying a lot.

@SnapdragonToadflax I can't believe they got rid of Quick Parts in new Outlook.

evilharpy · 27/09/2024 16:04

Unit 4 ERP and Word can both get in the bin.

I love Power BI but some elements of it really frustrate me.

Excel is my happy place though. Especially pivot tables, I spend many happy hours playing with pivot tables.

Workday

whoever designed that should be fired

out of a cannon into the sun

using it to record complicated time sheets is a massive, unpaid, time suck

I loathe Workday

When filling in leave, annual reviews etc I just click buttons, fill in boxes and hope for the best.

I can never understand how a specialised application can be so crap! Always assumed it was just our companys implementation of it that was awful.

ExpressCheckout · 27/09/2024 16:08

Having worked in the public sector for many, many years, I'd say that most of the 'custom' software we use is absolutely awful. It's although a contract has been given the the highest bidder. Oh, wait....

Thepeopleversuswork · 27/09/2024 16:13

Not software or equipment but the NEVER ENDING passwords and authentications and the need to save or track them in order to be able to do anything.

Dabralor · 27/09/2024 16:22

Onedrive - into the bin you go!!

Badbadbunny · 27/09/2024 16:26

Sage!

I've been an accountant for 40 years and first started using Sage in the early 90s. I hated it then and I still hate it now. Just so soul destroying the way it works. Every new version I had high hopes they'd make it more user-friendly, but, no, still just as hard as ever to do the simplest of things. It's a World apart from the fast growing new online providers such as Xero and Quickbooks which actually work.

If new clients approach me and say they use Sage, I simply don't take them on as clients as I'm so fed up of it and already have numerous clients using it who I actively hate working for!

And that's all just on the functionality (or lack of it). Before I even start raging about their unfair pricing strategies that end up costing small businesses a small fortune more than they need to because they end up tied/locked in to Sage.

Yes I have found my person.
I once tried KeePass but just gave up on it.
Yes I will write down my passwords thank you very much, no one cares enough to steal them from my tatty book that sits on my desk at home!

Thepeopleversuswork · 27/09/2024 16:34

@JackGrealishsCalves

Fuck me it’s tedious isn’t it.

Strikeback · 27/09/2024 16:38

Well this thread has handily reminded me that I need to 'share' an order with the warehouse. Happily not on Sharepoint as I try to avoid it!

Agree. I would also add my work iphone - I'm a lifelong android user! Also Sharepoint

My pc/printer at work is the devil reincarnated. I don't know if it's the printer or the pc, or both of them in cahoots to send me insane. I've adjusted the settings so many times, but still certain things I print end up coming out of random printers in other offices, the front of the store, conference room, managers office. It always says it's sent it to my printer, but rarely does it actually do this, and I spend my life hunting down paperwork with the potential to appear from about 15 different printers. And then the race is on to find the paperwork before another colleague bins it thinking it's unimportant. Every time, I have to press print, I sit there in anticipation, and as soon as it's obvious my printer isn't giving any fucks and showing zero activity, I have to dart out of my office and run around from place to place looking for the bloody documents before they're shredded... Helps get my daily steps in I guess.

Plippleton · 27/09/2024 16:46

A woman at work told me she loved outlook. I've cut the bitch off.

ForPearlViper · 27/09/2024 16:46

Despite my advanced age, in my team just prior to retirement I was one of the most advanced and competent users of the systems. It was me rather than 22 year old who went in and updated the website, etc.

Through my working life me and Office grew up together. I learnt going along and never had training courses on any of the packages. I would hate to learn these packages from scratch now because in my opinion Word, Excel, etc, are now massively overspecced and complicated for the average office worker and are therefore unnecessarily confusing.

As for Teams, brought in initially so we could collaborate on documents by a director so we could 'collaborate' on written materials, etc. Said director could barely use Word and created havoc and extra work for everyone by trying to 'collaborate'.

I do have a theory that all office equipment has a sensor to measure your level of stress in a given day. The more stressed you get the more it plays up. In my first job I got so stressed and overheated by dealing with the temperamental photocopier that I got a nosebleed. Never had one before or since. It was at that moment my very nice boss brought in her husband to introduce him to me.

Letsnotargue · 27/09/2024 16:55

My work Android phone. I have a personal iPhone and I just can’t work Android - I can’t even sensibly text or email on it. And it needs updating/upgrading all the flipping time and none of the ‘how to’ guides work. It’s the bane of my life.

At work we use Google rather than Microsoft and although it was initially a shock to the system I vastly prefer it to Teams and all its over-complications. It’s simple and easy to find stuff, and that’s all I need.

HelloCanYouHearMe · 27/09/2024 17:00

JIRA
SharePoint
MS Project

Are all software packages that can fuck off as far as i'm concerned, but my real vitriol is saved for SuccessFactors - I dont know if its common across the board or just the way its been implemented at my company but as a platform designed to manage staff records it really is the biggest bag of dogshit i've ever come across.... even worse than iTrent

HowardTJMoon · 27/09/2024 17:03

The random extra crap that Microsoft keeps shoving into the ribbons at the top of office applications drives me nuts. No, I don't want to share this email with Teams. No, I don't want to translate it to a different language. No, I don't want to instant message (why does Outlook have its own instant messaging thingie when we've also got Teams?)
But hey, you can customise the ribbon so it's exactly what you want! Except you can't modify the built-in ribbon. You can add your own stuff to it but once Microsoft decrees that you've got to have the option to IM from Outlook, you're stuck with it.

What software is it on? Maybe we can help?

BestIsWest · 27/09/2024 17:06

I see your Jira and confluence and raise you Bitbucket. WTF. It never remembers me from one day to the next. Never heard of you Best go away and never attempt to check anything in again.

Also SAP.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/09/2024 17:08

I like Jira!Grin
It may depend on what you're using it for and how well it's been configured?

I detest the in-house system that we're forced to use instead of it for customer issues. It's clunky, not intuitive at all. Lots of mystifying TLAs which possibly make more sense if you're French though I'm not convinced.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/09/2024 17:09

Mixed feelings about git... it's well named. Too many options, some are obvious but others aren't.

chewingthefurnishings · 27/09/2024 14:46

FUCKING MICROSOFT TEAMS!!!!
😡😡😡😡😡😡

Yes. This. Stupid system. All grey with tiny grey dots and no way to customise to make it more user friendly. And you can't order team members when you're searching a giant team because it added them all randomly. And it defaults to ordering by first name and never syncs..

Argh!!

LondonQueen · 27/09/2024 17:12

The crappy laptop they give me at work! I'm not sure how I'm supposed to effectively plan lessons on an archaic machine…

AspirationalTallskinnylatte · 27/09/2024 14:41

The authenticator app. Such a piss about.

Oh yes this too, I have to use it to access emails on said crappy laptop!
