Ordered new duvets the other day. Were supposed to arrive at store Wednesday.

I was doing a tip run Wednesday morning and saw email that order had arrived at store to collect.

I'd posted a few places about donating old duvets for dogs etc but no where took them so just took them to the tip.

Got home and opened email and saw the order had been split into 2 and my duvet was at store to collect but the kids duvets were not.

Tracking for kids duvets says 'we are waiting for your item to leave our depot' so they've not even picked them yet.

I phoned customer service and asked them to resend them. She said they can't as there not in stock.

I looked online and they are!

So I phoned back and they said no, we don't have the option for click and collect to resend items.

So I can either wait to see if anything happens by Tuesday or cancel now and reorder myself.

But refund will take 5 days.

I don't have the money to just reorder them! And if I reordered them why will THOSE ones be sent but mine haven't??

The kids have no duvets, I know that my fault for not double le checking the email but it's getting bloody cold.

Why can't they just resend them :(

Also, although coats are probably not the greatest for sleeping under (and you don't want your children telling people they only have a coat to sleep under) do you have throws, soft rugs in your house? Easy to not think of those but with Oodies on throws or big soft clean rugs would be fine as bedding just for a few nights.

Yes I took them to the tip as I recieved an email that their new ones had arrived to collect, but it was only mine.

I did try and find somewhere to donate them but dog shelters don't take them anymore it seems.

That was on you though as the email presumably made clear only part of your order was available

The refund will take 5 days. I already spent the budget for the duvets, I dont have the money until the refund is returned

Do you have any money in any other budget you could borrow? Christmas savings? Next week's food?

Hadjab · 21/09/2024 14:03

the plight of children with no duvets

😂

A tad dramatic given that these kids aren't homeless, just a little chilly due to their mother getting ahead of herself!

That's terrible. I once refused to shop in my local sainsbury's for a year because they ID'd me for alcohol

Edited

That's a very silly reason

I have a £5 DD set up in memory of my nana to the donkey sanctuary.

And yes, I ordered a weightloss pen with a discount code on a split payment app to see if it works, I probably do t be able to afford to continue it but I thought it might give me a kick-start and they do referal codes so I was hoping I might be able to get money off future ones.

The duvets were £30 each and I have 3 children so it's not a small amount added up and is not a normal monthly expense

Oh! Use the split payment app to buy more duvets?

It was a bit silly looking back

what’s happened to your children’s duvet?

Just wanted to say I think it's so clear you meant what happened to them BEFORE the tip, as in why did they need to be replaced. And you've been quoted multiple times saying it's in the OP 🤣

Completelyjo · 21/09/2024 14:17

Never mind binning them, why would you buy 4 new duvets when the expense leaves you with nothing! Theres no way everyone’s duvet was completely unusable,
Either way this is all on you, not Asda.

StarSlinger · 21/09/2024 14:18

I'm not sure what's going on with Asda deliveries just lately. I ordered something from George, had several emails from them about losing the parcel, and apologising for not processing an exchange, which I hadn't asked for. Parcel turned up eventually. The next day another parcel turned up with items I hadn't even ordered!

Tomorrowisyesterday · 21/09/2024 14:22

£30 is a lot for a duvet, I've got ones in Asda for a tenner before

I would have been very flattered had I been id'd in the last 50 years! It's the law in New Mexico but OH was very pleased.

TorturedParentsDepartment · 21/09/2024 14:36

It's an issue we've had with Asda bedding before (thankfully we were going up a bed size so could just use the old duvets on a bigger bed for a few days)... they don't make it clear that stuff on the website is being dispatched from a load of different sellers and warehouses (kind of Amazon style) so it doesn't all arrive together. We had about a week before all our stuff appeared at the destination.

Thankfully we have like a bajillion blankets cos I'm a crocheter!

WonderingWanda · 21/09/2024 14:37

Asda have gone back to being shit since Walmart sold them. Online ordering is fraught with problems. I've just been sent the wrong sized football boots by an amazon seller in Germany. They cost £9 postage and now I am trying to negotiate getting the postage refunded as they sent the wrong item and keep getting reaponses in German...flipping nightmare. I'm sure your kids will enjoy the novelty, just put them to bed in long pj's, socks a duvet cover and maybe a blanket or large beach towel over it until they arrive. My kids kick their duvets off all night long anyway and it never wakes them.

Needmorelego · 21/09/2024 14:44

To be honest I have never been in an Asda where they don't just have a whole load of quilts on the shelves. There's usually a whole aisle of them.
No need to actually order.
But what's done is done unfortunately for the OP.

Holidays78 · 21/09/2024 14:50

Jeez all these people saying 'well I would have kept them as spares..', 'what is someone vomits,.' Well read the OP she hasn't so is now stuck!

OP ask on fb if anyone had some spares you can borrow. I've 2 double duvets and a single spare so I'm guessing others do as well.

Put them in their winter pj's and use some throws. Any chance you can put the heating to come on a few times in the night? I know finances may not allow that.

But for £30 per duvet I'd cancel the order and re-order from Argos!

Sinisterdexter · 21/09/2024 14:54

@KittyGetSmall do you know anyone with sleeping bags that you can borrow?

I had this with Asda last November when I ordered a vacuum cleaner on their black Friday deal. I got an email that my items had arrived and it was just one item, my toaster. The vacuum wasn't there and never did arrive.
It was almost certainly stolen in transit to the store.
It took 2 weeks and 3 phonecalls to get a refund and by then I'd missed the black Friday deals. I got a £5 voucher for the hassle but lost £30 on the vacuum price rise, which I then bought from John Lewis.

KittyGetSmall · 21/09/2024 15:07

They cancelled my order 😑

I just rang and they said they don't knows why it's been cancelled but I have to just wait for a refund and reorder :/

Surely it’s obvious that it’s been cancelled because it hasn’t arrived into store so the parcel is presumably lost.

No, she said a message has been sent to the warehouse, they had not replied it. It's not lost, there's just been a delay in picking it.

But the last customer service person I spoke to has cancelled the order and they don't know why she's done that when they can see I said I wanted it still.

Needmorelego · 21/09/2024 16:08

Wait for the refund. Don't spend 30 quid on quilts 😱. Go and buy some straight off the shelf at one of the dozens of retailers that sell quilts.
Unless you are living in the North Pole your children will be fine for a few days.

fashionqueen0123 · 21/09/2024 16:11

I had the same happen this week. Duvet order cancelled after a week as said no stock.
its for sale online!!

Also ordered a duvet cover and then sent me the wrong size. Wanted me to pay for Royal Mail to send it back?! Or drive back to the store which I ended up doing.

Absolutely useless. I ordered from Argos and collected the next day instead.

aliceinanwonderland · 21/09/2024 17:04

A cheap single duvet is around £6 in Asda.
My local one has loads on the shelves
