So annoyed at Asda.

Ordered new duvets the other day. Were supposed to arrive at store Wednesday.

I was doing a tip run Wednesday morning and saw email that order had arrived at store to collect.

I'd posted a few places about donating old duvets for dogs etc but no where took them so just took them to the tip.

Got home and opened email and saw the order had been split into 2 and my duvet was at store to collect but the kids duvets were not.

Tracking for kids duvets says 'we are waiting for your item to leave our depot' so they've not even picked them yet.

I phoned customer service and asked them to resend them. She said they can't as there not in stock.

I looked online and they are!

So I phoned back and they said no, we don't have the option for click and collect to resend items.

So I can either wait to see if anything happens by Tuesday or cancel now and reorder myself.

But refund will take 5 days.

I don't have the money to just reorder them! And if I reordered them why will THOSE ones be sent but mine haven't??

The kids have no duvets, I know that my fault for not double le checking the email but it's getting bloody cold.

Why can't they just resend them :(

Or put the children in your bed under your new quilt.

Sera1989 · 21/09/2024 11:19

I'd be annoyed too. I don't think you can be blamed for thinking all the duvets were at the store when you got an email saying a parcel was waiting for you.
I assume since Wednesday the kids have been sleeping under blankets/towels/in jumpers or one has used your duvet? I wouldn't trust Asda now, I'd cancel, wait for a refund and order from elsewhere (Amazon or Argos who deliver quickly and efficiently). It's a bummer but everyone's OK

BobbyBiscuits · 21/09/2024 11:20

@KittyGetSmall fair play. It would be good if the stuff was more usable for homeless charities to take them wouldn't it?

Skipsurvey · 21/09/2024 11:20

use coats like in the old days!

Can you borrow a couple of sleeping bags off anyone?

timeforanewmoniker · 21/09/2024 11:24

KittyGetSmall · 21/09/2024 11:10

Yes that isn't their fault, but I did pay for delivery of something that should have arrived 4 days ago and hasn't even moved yet. It reads like the parcels been lost?
Thw item is in stock. It was ordered a week ago, I feel like that should send a replacement.

The kids not having duvets is just an annoying cherry on top. But thw poor customer service is the real issue.

If the item should have been at the shop 4 days ago and nothing has happened, no items have been picked etc they need to send some out!

Um I think the kids not having duvets is in fact the real issue.

You don't even have one spare duvet? What happens if someone throws up or bleeds on one or you have an unexpected guest?

It may make more sense for you to get the ones that pull apart so you can have thin summer or double up for winter, that way you have what you need and have potential spares. Plus if you change them out they will each wear less.

Skipsurvey · 21/09/2024 11:26

do charity shops have any duvets?

Isobel201 · 21/09/2024 11:28

KittyGetSmall · 21/09/2024 11:11

The refund will take 5 days. I already spent the budget for the duvets, I dont have the money until the refund is returned

I'd use a credit card for this reason. You can place another order and pay the balance off when you're next paid.

Skipsurvey · 21/09/2024 11:31

dont use the credit card
do you have blankets? fleeces?

How kind of you to offer the use of your credit card 😍

Thistooshallpass24 · 21/09/2024 11:37

Check gumtree FB marketplace etc, ask friends/family
If kids little enough turn it into a game of family camping? So everyone sleeps in the living room under blankets and your new duvet, would that work?

Could you use a credit card then pay it straight off when you get the refund?

Anyone you know have a guest room that you could borrow one from for a few days?

I refuse to spend a penny is asda after our address was 'blacklisted' after I complained multiple times about an uber driver stealing shopping.

A couple of times items were missing or the courier claimed he had 'dropped' them and that's why there were things missing out of multipacks.

Twice it said the delivery and been completed when it had not. Luckily I had security camera footage to prove it had not been delivered.

I only used to use it in emergencies anyway and thankfully Tesco whoosh service has since proved to be much more reliable.

Holzy91 · 21/09/2024 11:53

Tesco had their lightweight duvets for £5.50 yesterday for a double. Not sure on single but could always double up the double? Pretty cheap really

kenidorm · 21/09/2024 11:56

I don't see how Asda are to blame for you not reading your email properly until you got home

Streetcornerchoir · 21/09/2024 12:00

I’ve had this so many times with asda, in the summer they kept saying they’d resent the missing item only for it to ‘get lost’ each time, I spoke to someone in a store and they said they do that when the item is out of stock even though it was still available online for more people to order! I don’t know why they do it if it’s true!

I think you should ask for a refund to get things moving and if it turns too cold in the meantime they get your duvet for the time being.

given asda have blacklisted you
i’ll take a punt that you not spending any money with them is precisely what they want

That's terrible. I once refused to shop in my local sainsbury's for a year because they ID'd me for alcohol

SoManyTshirts · 21/09/2024 12:04

Quick post on FB asking to borrow sleeping bags (and return washed) should get you sorted.

Thistooshallpass24 · 21/09/2024 12:06

I know someone who ordered something for their child from Next, it took so long to arrive the child was in the size up, so they collected & returned at the same time

PearlyShamps · 21/09/2024 12:12

I've learnt through bitter experience to NOT expect deliveries to always arrive on time, or to expect the goods to always be suitable. Learn from the experience and keep your children warm in the many ways already suggested.

It's annoying that their duvets have been delayed, and Asda's customer care is certainly lacking- but this situation is mainly due to you not reading the email properly - and disposing of the kids duvets before checking the delivery contents.

Luckily it's pretty warm ATM... and hopefully you'll receive the kids' duvets soon.

If you don't want the children sleeping without a duvet, give them yours, and you can sleep fully clothed - if you don't have any blankets and feel chilly, pop your winter coat over yourself for extra warmth.
