OH bought me a thong bikini

I am 46, I have lost a lot of weight recently and I am feeling really comfortable in my body atm. More than I have for years.

Going on holiday at the weekend and my DH (that stands for dickhead, right?) made a joke about me wearing a thong bikini bottom and jokingly I said yeah, thought we were messing about. I have actually bought myself 2 bikinis showing more flesh than I would have normally shown, but I literally sunbath, I don't walk around in just my bikini

DH (dickhead again, yeah?) only went on amazon and ordered me a black pair of bikini bottoms, more or less a thong 😱

Am I too old at 46 to bare more flesh? I would quite like the confidence to do this but in the back of my mind I'm like, anyone looking at me will be thinking old woman in a thong, is it not just for younger women with perfect figures, or is it acceptable?

We were in Sri-Lanka in Feb and oh my there were arses everywhere. Now granted the vast vast majority of the ladies (younger women lots of travellers) had amazing figures but I don't know it felt a little too much . I guess it is the new topless of years gone by.

Exactly. I have a couple of thong bikinis that I wear around the Villa / pool. I work hard to have a very toned bottom and my husband appreciates it. I wouldn’t wear a thong to a public beach though because, no matter how good your arse is, they are not classy, but there’s no shame in wearing something your husband finds sexy in private if you want to.

Maybe you could just wear it when it’s just you and your husband?

Please don't wear it OP. No-one looks OK in a thong bikini. And stop calling your DH a dickhead. You might think it's a 'fun' nickname but actually it's an early sign of contempt. My ex started off calling me simular things as a joke but ultimately it was abusive.

If you think you would be comfortable in it then wear it. I am not talking comfortable as in not minding showing more flesh, but in not minding a bit of string grating in your crack - ouch!. If you do not fancy that, then tell him you will wear it if he wears it first!

I don't like feet, I'd rather people kept them covered than have to see their bare trotters, but I'm not going to pull people up for wearing sandals, I can just look away.

Is it more of a cheeky bikini bottom op? I wear those and I feel much more covered in them, even if there is some cheek showing, but it's more flattering imo. I wouldn't wear a thong one myself but they're everywhere now since love island !! So you wouldn't be sticking out like a sore thumb (bum)

It's not my personal preference, but I have a lot of friends from Brazil and having visited there, was surprised that's thongs are just standard! And I don't mean for young and thin women either - women of all ages seem to wear whatever swimwear they want, and often pretty revealing styles, with all sorts of body shapes.

In Europe I suppose you'd have to consider whether your feel comfortable wearing a different style than is common, though I still think most people don't really care what other people are wearing so don't overthink it!

So he wants you to wear less in public. This is about him, not you. It sounds like he is getting a thrill out of it. You may like that too but it is a bit ikky that he’s insistent about showing you off. Makes it sounds like you are a possession. Wear what you are comfortable in - not what he wants others to see you in. If that’s that type of bikini then do it but not because he wants you to.

If you don't, then don't.

Personally I wouldn't wear one, but the fact that I don't have the confidence (or bottom!) to wear one shouldn't bare any significance to your choice.

I haven't worn a thong in bloody years. Couldn't get me out of them when I was younger, loved a good 3 for £10 Top Shop thong and a pair of hipster jeans 🤣

Thongs are vile at any age. I don't know why people are so self obsessed that they imagine strangers want to look at their bare arse.
