Just wondering how much skinny people eat in a day and if I am over eating?

OP posts:
Malvala · 18/09/2024 14:08

It might help if you tell us what you're eating.

In my experience what you eat matters far more than how much because calories are absolutely not equal in human metabolism.

Brobdingnagian · 18/09/2024 14:11

Greek yogurt with nuts and seeds for breakfast.

banana & homemade oat bar for snack.

Toast with cream cheese. 5 dates & teaspoon of nut butter for lunch or cheese (small amount) sandwich with packet of crisps.

lentil & veg lasagne/ lentil & veg curry/Quorn cottage pie
Qvarg or some chocolate.

I eat approx 1750 calories a day. I track on MFP.

I'm a size 8/10 and am not skinny.
I intermittent fast so I don't eat anything between 8pm and 12pm. I eat pretty much anything i want in my eating period. We don't eat ready meals or fizzy drinks, not sure whether that has anything to do with it?

I also do a lot of exercise. I am a powerlifter and I run a couple of times a week.

Do you drink tea or coffee between 8pm and 12pm or just stick to water?

midgetastic · 18/09/2024 14:14

If you are a size 10 and the same height as you and the same basic activity level as you

Otherwise it's meaningless

telllaura · 18/09/2024 14:16

Greek yoghurt, fruit, nuts, tahini

A wrap or salad or soup with some more fruit

Home cooked evening meals - from curries to veggie bean based dishes to stir frys to eggs/avo on toast if a lazy evening

A little dark chocolate or some nuts/prunes in the evening.

I run three times a week v early in the morning and go to Bodybalance once a week. I also work f/t in a job that involves lots of moving around and being on my feet.

midgetastic · 18/09/2024 14:17

Today so far

1 slice Toast butter and cheese
Packet of crisps
Lots of milk in endless tea
2 eggs ( one as an egg mayo sandwich with 2 slices bread)
2 shortcake busicuits
Handful or 2 of nuts
Sone pineapple
Dinner will be veggie chilli and rice and a dollop of chutney
Evening snacks and puddings likely - possibly rice cakes and cheese and 4 squares chocolate
And an apple if I feel healthy

Hotpinkparade · 18/09/2024 14:17

I intermittent fast too. I have a late lunch of vegetable soup at 4pm, then dinner at 8ish - lentils and halloumi, or pasta, risotto, chickpea curry for instance. Maltesers and an ice lolly for dessert. Black coffee and Coke Zero to drink.

nOasistickets · 18/09/2024 14:20

Im a small size - don’t eat until 11am - toast maybe, today was leftover rice from yesterday. Cup of tea in the morning, cup of tea in the afternoon, grilled chicken with salad this evening. That’s about it. Oh - and water in between. Stop eating at 6pm/630pm most days.

piccolorhinoceros · 18/09/2024 14:20

It totally depends. On Monday I had porridge for breakfast, a pasta salad for lunch, and chicken pasta for dinner (and went a 5k run after work). Yesterday I had a roll and potato scone for breakfast, a crappy pulled pork panini from the canteen for lunch, and chicken and rice in teriyaki sauce for dinner. Today I had porridge and a Starbucks for breakfast and am having a salad for lunch.

Fromalongline · 18/09/2024 14:20

mid morning coffee and pastry (usually a croissant)

BunnyMum2000 · 18/09/2024 14:22

Im a size 8.

I’m gluten free (not by choice) so I don’t really eat out or have takeaways.

generally I have cereal for breakfast.
lunch is a panini with salad.
dinner is usually either pasta or something like a spaghetti bolognaise.

i prefer to eat little and often .. so generally smaller meals and then some snacks.
I have a small amount of chocolate every day.

i do exercise a lot … I run 4 or 5 times a week (about 40k a week at the mo)

ArmedAndClueless · 18/09/2024 14:23

I try to stay away from processed foods as much as possible. I also try to stick with the 80/20 rule so I can still eat the foods I enjoy but just not over indulge. I have days where I eat 2 bacon sarnies more than a pig, but have more days where I try mindfully eat and I also try to exercise between 3-5 days a week incorporating 1 or 2 30-min HIIT workouts to boost my metabolism (needed more so now I'm post 30 😭🤣). I was overweight as a child and I had a brief chubby spell during covid when I think the entire world gained about 3st, but aside from that I've always been a size 8-10. I've read and studied a lot of the impacts certain foods have on your body and I found that was the most effective way to stay on track - having that knowledge was a real eye opener for me.

Wow really? So you don't eat breakfast the next morning and just power on through from 8pm in the evening until 12pm lunch next day? 16hrs is a long time to withhold food for, especially doing it daily! What's your reasoning behind the fasting if I'm allowed to ask?

Are you tall? I was very overweight on that sort of intake.

Which goes to show, hard and fast food rules are useless, as well as misery making.

Tralalaka · 18/09/2024 14:30

I don’t eat between 8pm and 12 pm the next day

I have lunch either a ham cheese and salad wrap, a salad with lots of protein or left overs from dinner

Lots of tea and coffee

Afternoon snacks occasionally a 79 calorie treat or a load of carrot / peppers / mini cucumbers / cherry tomatoes

About twice a week a small bowl of kettle chips

Dinner: always homemade and including protein, veg and a carb. Last night was bolognaise, day before was grilled chicken with rice and veg, tonight will be grilled salmo, roasted veg and roasted new potatoes

Evening; more raw veg, a couple of corn rice cakes or a mini magnum

Today so far I’ve had: Lunch left over roast veg and a small bowl of bolognaise meat, 3 mini cucumbers and a carrot. Out for dinner tonight so will try not to eat before we go.

Glass or 3 of wine Friday and Saturday

Ruelzdontapply · 18/09/2024 14:30

I'm not sure it's got to do with eating I'm 5ft6 and weight 53kg I've always been skinny and I eat the same has everybody else in the house.
I don't have smaller portions than anyone else.
I eat snacks cakes and sweets when I want and drink at least 5 can of coca cola a day.
I've been a size 10 since my teens.

16 hours isn't that long. I've done longer occasionally. Fasting has many health benefits and helps with weight loss. If you google there's loads of info out there.

angellinaballerina7 · 18/09/2024 14:34

I eat when I’m hungry, I aim for 5 a day, and I make sure there’s always some protein on my plate. But I eat a fair few snacks too, so I think this is just my size if I’m honest.

WonderingAboutBabies · 18/09/2024 14:34

Breakfast:

  • Porridge with fruit/honey/peanut butter
  • eggs on toast
  • avocado on toast
  • cereal of my choice

Lunch:

  • Soup and bread
  • Wraps with chicken/cheese/salad
  • Jacket potatoes with Tuna/Cheese or Beans/Cheese
  • Avocado and seeds on Sourdough bread

Afternoon snack:

  • piece of fruit
  • cup of tea
  • cheese and biscuits

Dinner:

  • Whatever I fancy e.g.
  • Spag bol
  • Chorizo pasta
  • Chilli con carne
  • Sausage and mash
  • Stir fries

Something sweet:

  • fruit / yoghurt
  • small bowl of cereal
  • mug cake
  • chocolate
  • cookies

I will say that most of my food is cooked from scratch, and I exercise a lot. Two dog walks a day as well as strength training, yoga, and running. My portions are also not ridiculous.

JumpstartMondays · 18/09/2024 14:35

Cereal or porridge for breakfast, fruit

Sandwich and piece of fruit for lunch, or dinner left overs.

Dinner e.g. pasta Bolognase

Evening snack (pudding) after kids in bed would be something like a piece of lemon and poppyseed sheet pancake with greek yog and honey, or a hot cross bun/slice of fruit loaf, before 9pm, with a cuppa.

My kids and DH all snack throughout the day but I don't. DH cut out snacks for a week and lost 6kg!!!

StewardsEnquiry · 18/09/2024 14:35

I'm a size 8-10.

Today I've eaten:
3x coffee with milk
1 chicken breast
Bowl of raspberries with Greek yoghurt, flax seeds and walnuts

Later on will have cauliflower rice and home made chilli.
