To be incensed that a man cost council tax payers £63,000 for insisting he had a gender fluid Daschund?

£63,000 could have paid for an awful lot of things for the poorest families in Cambridgeshire, instead, thousands of hours and a huge pile of cash has been paid out because of some dickhead, virtue signalling in a meeting

https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/gender-neutral-daschund-social-worker-wins-63-000-discrimination-payout/

This brave woman did what we all need to do, stood up, called bullshit on something patently absurd, and instead of supporting her, her bosses called her "nasty" and excluded HER from meetings! She's a social worker!

WTF is going on? Is it the backwards decade where we all do the opposite of what's sensible?

I wonder what the poor chap would have made of this securely male 'gender nonconforming' dachshund?Grin

https://www.ammothedachshund.com/2011/06/08/pink-is-for-boys/

And having had daughter, a dachshund, and a dressing up box at the same time I can assure everyone that even a preschooler knows you only combine the latter two for humorous effect not serious discussion.

Bloody hell, This is a step too far!
Even my own Dachshund thinks it’s madness!!

My Cockerpoo said she always knew Dachshunds were a bit mad. I told her it’s not the dachshund, it’s the owner. She said ah, that makes complete sense.

Seymour5 · 17/09/2024 19:26

Unbelievable and scary what a grown man in a responsible position can be upset by. I wonder how much choice the dog had?

MrTiddlesTheCat · 17/09/2024 19:27

Poor dog. I hope it's being offered support at this difficult time. My cats are pissing themselves laughing at it.

I'm one of Lizzie's colleagues. I am so proud of her for standing up to this, and so ashamed of myself for not daring to put my head above the parapet. Senior management are toxic but I have a mortgage to pay......

And that is where most people are hamstrung and the authoritarian nature of this ideology is revealed; disagree and we'll destroy your livelihood. Nice people!

Hope this case brings about some changes that will make your work environment less toxic.

Your cats need some sensitivity training! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

So instead of cutting the winter fuel payment for pensioners, the government should be cutting legal aid for this type of shite. The individual should be invoiced for his legal costs.

However, Labour seems to be in the thrall of the unicorn & rainbow brigade so it's very unlikely they would. If people want to bring this type of legal action then they need to fund it themselves.

The more light we shine on this insanity the better, as soon as one person gets out the torch and has a really good look - the emperor has no clothes

Another quote from the Critic article:

She [Director of Human Resources] also complained that Pitt was not prepared to prioritise the “lived experience” of her colleagues and that she instead “focused on reciting facts and scientific data, including statistics about gender minorities.”

Well those damned facts and scientific data, huh. Don't they just get in the way.

OonaStubbs · 17/09/2024 19:30

Why can't the legal costs be claimed against the man?

I have a very low opinion of the public sector in general and this kind of thing just lowers it even further. Why can't they just get on with doing their jobs?

spannasaurus · 17/09/2024 19:30

I'm not surprised that the dog owner was a social worker. Social Work England were also instructed to provide/undergo further training following Rachel Meade's tribunal win against them.

My cats looked at the photo of the Dachshund and exclaimed ‘Bitch please’. Then they stuck their bum in my face and strolled outside.

I thought Lizzie (the GC social worker) took the council to the tribunal? Cut legal aid and she would just have been sacked with no recourse.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/09/2024 19:32

Sorry, what I meant was they don't care about which sex they are 95% of the time. The sex of another dog doesn't usually concern them, eostrus excepted.

IME dogs are well aware of other dogs' sex most of the time, and also humans - many have a distinct preference for one or the other. I seem to remember some time ago a transwoman complained about not being liked by a 'transphobic' dog ...it liked women but didn't like men.

Gender otoh... dogs can't see pink.😂

TriesNotToBeCynical · 17/09/2024 19:32

TorghunKhan · 17/09/2024 19:15

The dog owner went on record to say:

"I am wondering if this symbolic violence is being extended in practices in supervision."

CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS WORLD WHAT THE HELL

The really worrying part of this statement is that he apparently thinks one's personal views should affect how one treats clients/patients. I thought having the ability to avoid this was an essential qualification for health or social care practitioners.

The idiot individual who caused the problem didn't incur any costs.
I don't think Liz Pitt had any legal aid, hence the council being ordered to pay her legal costs as well as the loss of earnings and compensation payments.

I don't know if the (mis)managers involved get any sort of performance element to their pay but if so they should definitely forfeit it for a few years for their waste of council tax payers money.

It wasn’t the man who was sued. It was the council for its actions in bullying its employees.

Was the dog at the meeting? If so, who thought that was a good idea? If not, why did the dog need to be mentioned at all?

Gah, you beat me to it.

I'm a comms and marketing manager and I really wouldn't have got very far if I'd let the words do hurties to my feelings. You need to be robust in that job. Mind you , you need to be robust in social work too
