To think The Range has made a stupid decision

CDS Superstores has announced a major change to The Range stores' entry requirements. Dog owners will no longer need to leave their pets outside or at home as stores across the UK are now completely dog-friendly.“

What’s the point of this other than to make shopping in The Range a miserable experience? Am I the only one who thinks it’s disgusting to have filthy dogs running around soft furnishings and fragile displays, potentially pissing on things? I assume people with dog allergies are just irrelevant then. Navigating the shop is already a nightmare when it’s busy, who wants dogs who have been rolling around in God knows what to be taking up the aisles? Think it’ll be online orders only from now on… Hmm

@Catpuss66 I never said he walked through any of it. I'm attentive of my child, not like the disgusting dog owners that leave the piss all over the floors without notifying anyone that their untrained dog needs cleaning up after.

Why comment just to be nasty? (And wrong).

My mum owns 8 dogs and none have ever pissed where they shouldn't. Neither has my 2yr old before you make another pointless nasty comment.

Just because I disagree with you does not make my comment nasty. You are the one using derogatory language e.g piss . The only time I have seen a dog wee in pets at home was a little puppy, which staff were happy to clean even though the owner offered to clean it.
Wonder how your mom affords 8 dogs, what with insurance & vaccinations feeding & grooming, I cannot imagine taking 8 dogs out for a walk everyday twice a day.

OonaStubbs · 18/09/2024 17:54

If I had a shop I would ban children and dogs from coming in.

LilBowWow · 18/09/2024 17:58

@OonaStubbs thats good to know. What would your hypothetical shop sell?

Sex shop?

A high end bar?

OonaStubbs · 18/09/2024 21:08

Any shop. Dogs don't spend money and children don't spend very much. People who have either could leave them tied up safely outside in an area covered by CCTV.

CCTV doesn't stop anyone really. Otherwise there would not be countless hours of crimes being caught on CCTV.

But I think you are being sarcastic, as no one in their right mind would think it is ok to leave a child "tied up" out side a shop. Yes, I know people used to leave kids in pushchairs/prams outside shops, but that was several decades ago now.

LilBowWow · 18/09/2024 21:38

Sounds like a great business model. I hope it works out for you.

Hahaha. My kids spend loads of money!! And they certainly have more of it to fritter than I do.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 18/09/2024 23:42

@Catpuss66 are you actually wondering? Or are you asking me to justify how someone who can afford 8 dogs can actually afford 8 dogs? Well firstly she's retired so has ALL day to look after the dogs' every need. Twice a day is not sufficient for walks for energetic dogs, except the more elderly dogs who just have short walks. The younger ones are out for hours a day walking and playing. And yes, of course they are vaccinated, given the fact lots of idiot dog owners don't bother so the risk is higher these days.

She actually had 12 this time last year but several have died or been put to sleep due to their very old age.

Also, she's not my 'mom' as I'm English. I refer to her as my mum.

Do you need any further information about her finances so you can make snide comments about affordability?

I am English in the midlands we call them Mom. I am retired, my groom yesterday cost £46 food just cost £66 insurance £20 most people pay £30-100 pm vaccination's £50-70 , flea & wormers £30 every 3 months. Treats £25 + £5 dog training £3 pw. For 8 dogs was 12 that’s a lot of money. I would find it difficult financially to have more than one dog.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 19/09/2024 02:42

@Catpuss66 I'd find it impossible to pay what she does, personally. She spends practically nothing on herself, it all goes on the dogs.

She's just inherited £110k so I don't think the dogs will be going without anytime soon. I could think of a million things better to spend that money on than dogs though!

It's taken me a couple of years to get through to her that now she's almost 70 she needs to ensure they aren't replaced as they die off. Apparently she's leaving them to me in her will 😑

Make it a dog- and small child-free cafe, and you'll do very well.

ForZippyJadeEagle · 19/09/2024 12:40

Order online then.

I'm not a fan of the new trend that dogs can't be left at home for a few hours but there's no need for histrionics about it. I'd wager you'll be unlikely to see a dog in The Range when you shop, let alone dirty ones contaminating everything and pissing all over the floor but if you don't like it, vote with your feet.

CherryValley5 · 17/09/2024 00:32

I have no issue with dogs but I am genuinely wondering why on earth you’d want to take them to the range? Seems very silly to me - and I’m a dog owner + lover!

It’s not a pet friendly shop in the slightest.

To be fair, it's not a very customer friendly shop either, I can think of no other place with as many Do Not notices on the door. Awful place to shop!

Really? I've never actually been to one. I don't think I will now, either.

Dogs are one thing, nannying notices quite another!

OonaStubbs · 19/09/2024 21:53

What do all the "do not" notices say?

It seems ridiculous that they'd ban so many things but allow dogs.
