To think The Range has made a stupid decision

hellolittleduck · 16/09/2024 23:45

CDS Superstores has announced a major change to The Range stores' entry requirements. Dog owners will no longer need to leave their pets outside or at home as stores across the UK are now completely dog-friendly.“

What’s the point of this other than to make shopping in The Range a miserable experience? Am I the only one who thinks it’s disgusting to have filthy dogs running around soft furnishings and fragile displays, potentially pissing on things? I assume people with dog allergies are just irrelevant then. Navigating the shop is already a nightmare when it’s busy, who wants dogs who have been rolling around in God knows what to be taking up the aisles? Think it’ll be online orders only from now on… Hmm

Lipstick? I assume you mean dog penis? Well, this might be news to you but 50% of dogs lack one of those.

Except that would not please the people on this thread who say they cannot go anywhere a dog has been, so blind people should not be allowed to take their dogs in a shop.

The only shops dogs should be allowed in are pet shops. Otherwise people should just tie them up outside as always used to happen.

It is not silly it is just explaining some of the posts made here today, that people are so allergic to dogs that even if one had been in the shop there would be a problem, or does the allergy only happen when it is not a service dog?

No way. Dog theft is a thing now, especially with the stupid high price for puppies.
Plus a dog tied up alone is not under the control of an owner, and that is rightly frowned upon too.
If your kid was bitten by a dog tied up alone outside a shop, I bet you would be blaming the owner.

OonaStubbs · 17/09/2024 21:29

Well maybe people can leave their dogs at home? Or maybe not have them in the first place. Either way, shops are not somewhere dogs should be. They are animals.

If a shop allows dogs, the you can go on about how they should not be allowed all you want. Stamping your feet wont change the fact that someone taking their dog into a shop that allows dogs is doing nothing wrong.

And dog owners get called entitled....

Drag a weeing dog by their throat? Bit cruel isn't it?

Edited

Plus even if you could manage it you'd just be spreading the pee over a bigger area!

chaosmaker · 17/09/2024 09:39

A friend's dog has nappies for when she's in season so why not? Better still just don't have dogs except for assistance dogs in shops.

Why doesn't she just get her dog neutered??

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 17/09/2024 21:53

I was in a shop in a shopping centre and the shop had three big dogs in it. This triggered itchiness and I was then itchy all the rest of the day out. I wish dogs were banned from stores. No dog needs to be a sports shop rubbing itself against everything.

MountUnpleasant · 17/09/2024 21:55

Eurgh, won't be going there!

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 17/09/2024 21:56

A service dog is there to support someone who can only go outside with a dog to enable them. I don’t mind being itchy for a service dog.

IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos · 17/09/2024 17:29

So do I. I know people with all kinds of dogs and all kinds of cars. They have them because they love them (dogs) and they like them and/or meet their needs (cars).

I know some people who use their car as a status symbol. I know no people who use their dog as one. There's a lot of people walking dogs on the same schedule as me and they're all much loved pets, many of which are rescues. Nothing to do with showing off.

Oh come on, why do you think a certain type favours the likes of XL bullies? Or any dog that makes them look like a hard man?

And nobody will tell me that all of those who drive Range Rover 4x4 have a genuine need of them as they're mostly in cities!

Numsmetposter · 17/09/2024 22:32

The last time I went to the range I was looking for something specific, I had checked online they had in stock. And two different shop workers laughed when I asked where it was!

I found that quite amusing. It sums the place up, loads of random stuff vaguely organised, with price tickets completely wrong.

But click and collect is free, there's a good tip for you. Avoid the dogs then too.

Sorry that just made me think. A dog in the shop in question would be a Range Rover.

Meanwhile in the real world, Mumsnet aibu votes and comments are not legally binding and despite all the many tantrums here over dogs being allowed in stores, this has been shown to increase profits. It's entirely up to the shop if they allow them in and taking your dog somewhere it's allowed to be isn't entitled behaviour. Pretty much every dog I've seen out and about has behaved fine.

What's silly is ignoring all those that have already explained it's a numbers game. There's far fewer assistance dogs than pets. I can count on one hand the amount of guide dogs I've ever encountered and one of those belonged to my visually impaired father in law and another belonged to his friend. If we were going somewhere with DS2 and a guide dog was present or arrived later we would not go inside or leave. This has never happened. In over a decade of DS2 having a dog allergy we've never had to do this because of an assistance dog however not going into places because of other peoples pets is a regular occurrence.

It’s great to see dogs will be more preferred and treated better than kids!

Kids are allowed in the range.
