Did you know who Cat Deeley was before she joined This Morning?

When Cat Deeley became presenter of This Morning earlier this year I had not heard of her before, some of my friends are surprised that I did not know who she was. (We are all in our 40's by the way) I knew who Holly Willoughby was though.

Am I weird in never having heard of her before?

I didn't know she was on This Morning (don't watch it) but I remember her from SMTV live back in the day.

Knew of her first from her MTV days with Edith Bowman. Worked with her after that and she was absolutely delightful - great work ethic, incredibly professional and a lovely person.

Although TBF to the OP, SMTV live was more for those who are now late 30s than those of us in our 40s.

How can you be in your forties and not have watched SMTV Live? It's not like there were many other channels to watch back then!

I always watched her present the UK Top 20 on MTV Europe in 1999-2000.

Catherine Noddy Slade Deeley is what I remember was her full name according to Ant & Dec. Enjoyed reading this thread for all the mentions of SMTV!

Surprised nobody has mentioned Anty and Decky the Bill and Ben parody yet I don’t think. Looked it up and Cat Deeley played Prozac the Giggle-Fairy apparently. I was one of the younger SMTV live viewers on the thread so I didn’t get that reference watching as a child!

Also Fame Academy and Stars in their Eyes. Basically Cat Deeley was around for a lot of my childhood so yes I knew her before This Morning.

Yes. She literally grew up with Ant and Dec. She's pretty well known in the US too as she's been hosting So You Think You Can Dance for about 17 years.

Yea I loved her on SMTV when I was younger. My fav weekend show. She then went onto present so you think you can dance in America. It was a huge show in the 00s and 10s. Obviously now she's back here

I'm 43 and I was only 17 when SMTV and CD:UK started so of course I wasn't hungover when watching it at first. Hahahahaha

I won one of the CD:UK competitions when I was 19. I only entered because they always did a goody bag of all the acts that were on and I was really into U2 at rhe time who were on the show that week. But the competition was for a 50CC motorbike-ride scooter, only open to those 18+ and it ended up being no goody bag! Even worse was the following week when I tuned in to see my name announced and they just didn't do it. It was like that competition hadn't existed and yes it still annoys me now (especially when I see Ant and Dec on TV 🤣).

The bike was worth a couple of thousand though and I got a helmet and accessories included too. Ended up keeping it in a hangar at a local marine base as I didn't have a licence yet and my neighbour would take me up there for me to practise. I don't have great balance though and I soon realised it wasn't for me so I sold everything a couple of years later and went on holiday to France with the money.

I always felt at the time when Cat moved on that Holly Willoughby always seemed to be there instead as if she had just replaced her and I think some people did forget about Cat because of that.

I know her from So You Think You Can Dance.
