Did you know who Cat Deeley was before she joined This Morning?

When Cat Deeley became presenter of This Morning earlier this year I had not heard of her before, some of my friends are surprised that I did not know who she was. (We are all in our 40's by the way) I knew who Holly Willoughby was though.

Am I weird in never having heard of her before?

Yep! I believe she lived in USA for a long time though ... wasn't she married to Patrick Kielty?

Still is.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 16/09/2024 18:05

Yes, SMTV Live and Fame Academy. I vaguely remember a dance show in America too,

Yuk what a horrible thing to day Patrick kielty is lovely. Why the need to mention his Irish Ness what are you actually saying with that comment?

I was surprised at the "ugly" description.

lovescats3 · 16/09/2024 18:06

She's a smug woman who has replaced the previous smug woman on this morning

StaunchMomma · 16/09/2024 18:07

She'll always be Cat the Dog to me!

Cantbelievethatimafoolagain · 16/09/2024 18:07

I'm in my late 20s and I remember her well watching smtv with ant and dec. I'm surprised you don't know who she is

lovescats3 · 16/09/2024 18:07

The way she keeps pushing her hair back is annoying too

leopardski · 16/09/2024 18:09

I grew up on SMTV. CHUMS is some of her finest work.

KendraTheVampyrSlayer · 16/09/2024 17:49

Well yeah, of course! Couldn't have gotten through Saturday morning hangovers without Cat, Ant & Dec on SMTV.

Yep, I was at University and I was very good at "Wonky Donkey" if I do say so myself.

ThatMakesSense · 16/09/2024 18:11

Yeah! Hangover TV!!

SalmonEile · 16/09/2024 18:11

anyone remember the wedding episode of CHUMS when Mariah Carey was her bridesmaid

DillDanding · 16/09/2024 18:12

I knew her from SMTV, which I assumed started when I was a teen. I just looked it up and I was actually 26, yet still watching kids’ TV. 😂

Patrick Kielty is not ugly!

I can't believe she's 53! She looks really well. I know that's because she has money to look good but I think she looks as natural as can be if she's had any work done.

gingercat02 · 16/09/2024 17:46

Paddy Keilty. Not ugly, and one of the funniest people om the planet

Ugly is harsh but I do think it's disingenuous to suggest they look like a probable match as a couple based on appearances (they clearly do match as a couple, considering how long they've been together).

I haven't seen him on anything for years so took it he's still working in the US?

Piggywaspushed · 16/09/2024 18:13

I remember the song:

We all love Cat Deeley
She smiles on our TV

Can't recall who sang it.

Ant and Dec and Trevor and Simon ' we don't do duvets'. I watched it in my 20s!!

MolkosTeenageAngst · 16/09/2024 18:13

I know her from SMTV live, I didn’t know she was on this morning now.

Vabenejulio · 16/09/2024 18:14

I’m late 40s, knew who she was, have never watched TV in the morning in my life, and saw her as a generically-appealing (in the U.K.) white, blonde, perpetually-smiling young woman with no discernible personality other than to be a foil for the men she appeared alongside. Holly Willoughby is modelled on her, I think. She was unlike, say, Zoe Ball who had a distinct personality - also of its time and not my cup of tea.

BarbaraHoward · 16/09/2024 18:14

OneTC · 16/09/2024 17:32

Yeah used to love her in smtv days, she went low profile for a while, think she moved to America or something

I know her profile was lower in the UK during those years, but she was presenting So You Think You Can Dance in the US so she was properly famous there too.

She's seriously successful.

Piggywaspushed · 16/09/2024 18:16

Patrick Kielty made an extraordinarily moving documentary about the murder of his father in The Troubles. He's not a great comedian but he is a good man and an excellent presenter.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 16/09/2024 18:16

I'm in my 50s and know who she is. I thought she was in the US though, I didn't realise she's back on UK TV.

MelainesLaugh · 16/09/2024 18:17

I’m mid 40s and I knew who she was

I don't think that's fair. She was genuinely funny on SMTV.

Tulipsareredvioletsarebue · 16/09/2024 18:17

I know her from So you think you can dance! It was ages ago though.

Rory17384949 · 16/09/2024 18:17

Yes from SMTV! I'm 43

LadeOde · 16/09/2024 18:18

She was the presenter for So You Think You Can Dance, USA, and was fantastic on it.
