I dunno I genuinely think Trump is either unhinged enough or stupid enough to set up two association attempts in order to try win the election ? Anyone else ?

Why so angry? The only one frothing here is you. Calm down.

No, you are not the only person who thinks this, there are lots of other conspiracy theorists out there.

Why not blame us gun laws? Or the fact that Trump incites political violence?

Jjiillkkf · 18/09/2024 07:48

I really don't like the term 'conspiracy theorist' as it's intended to smear, malign and discredit narratives which run counter to those in mainstream/legacy media (I.e the ones power intend us to believe) so many supposed 'conspiracy theories' turned out to be true. It's also usually not technically the appropriate term to use - often these are not coordinated 'conspiracies' anyway. People are so naive as to the extent their attitudes/outlooks/opinions are moulded and manipulated by the media.

Who knows if it was a set-up or not. But given the amount of hysteria around Trump from precisely the people on this thread who believe it was a set-up it's amazing attempts on his life aren't near constant given that he's supposedly 'literally Hitler' and you can bet if Kamala had had her ear clipped by a bullet we would never hear the end of it, it certainly wouldn't have been memory holed as fast as Trumps was.

Domainedor · 18/09/2024 07:52

I loathe Donald Trump but have little doubt that these were both legitimate assassination attempts - and expect that the FBI or whoever else would quickly identify any "set ups".

CoralReader · 18/09/2024 07:53

No setups

You sound like you need to step away from the thread, and your post should be left up for you to realise why your endless vile insults are completely OTT.

People are so so rude on here. This is a discussion forum, different opinions are allowed you know.

I have no idea about attempt no.1. There is a lot wrong with it, but I imagine that's the fault of the security people. The assailant was known to be on the roof with a rifle. I believe Trump's ear was grazed with a piece of glass from the speech screen. However, I have seen other attempts of POTUS's and they always cover the victim up when it happens. Why they let Trump stand there raising his fist, and therefore being a perfect second shot, god alone knows.

I am pretty sure the second attempt was a set up to try get a polling bump for trump boy.

AnywhereAnyoneAnyTime · 18/09/2024 08:00

Oh dear. That is all. ;)

Violetparis · 18/09/2024 08:07

No, I don't think they were a set up. I think there are conspiracy therorists on the right and the left of politics and neither side recognises it in themselves.

Teddleshon · 18/09/2024 08:14

So what exactly is in it for the assassins then? The first was shot dead and the second was shot at.

Why would they face death for a set up?

The second assassin had a long history of being pro Ukraine so I'm interested to know why he would risk his life for Trump.

Boomer55 · 18/09/2024 08:14

The first attempt was real. This latest one? No, it’s about Trump’s dropping poll ratings. The only shots fired were by the Secret Service. The gunman has not even been charged with anything other than illegal possession of a firearm. 🤷‍♀️

My son lives out there, and he said within minutes of this, there were cash pleas flooding out from the Trump camp, asking for donations because “the Democrats had tried to kill him”. 🙄

Some will believe it though.

The media doesn't hate Trump. Half the media hates Trump. The other half is as deranged as he is. I don't think the first assassination attempt was a set up, but I'm convinced the second was.

I agree. I want sure about the first one but the second one is a set up. Not sure how much Trump knows about it (probably wouldn't want to). But someone arranged that as a deliberate miss after the disastrous debate.

BustingBaoBun · 18/09/2024 08:31

There's nothing more to be said

According to you. I'll continue with discussion if I so wish. Calling posters cunts, fucking imbeciles and more, gets your point across, does it?

No. Not for me.

I prefer discussion... back to it....

It was originally called 'an assassination attempt'. That has now been downgraded .. to firearms offences. He fired no shots.

Teddleshon · 18/09/2024 08:46

He spent 12 hours lying in the bushes at the fifth hole with a rifle with a scope. Were the Secret Service supposed to wait for him to fire?

Again, what would be in it for Routh to go along with some sort of set up? He is a staunch supporter of Ukraine.

Obviously he has only been charged with firearms offences as he didn't actually shoot but it's reasonable to assume that was his intention.

SuePreemly · 18/09/2024 09:00

See I am far from a conspiracy theorist. I'm as centre ground as they come so swivel eyed leftist loon, nope.

There's something very "off" about both shootings. Things just don't seem to add up with the first one and I hate that some poor innocent man lost his life. But things like the fact a cartilage injury healed perfectly in two weeks? Nobody who's had enough ear cartilage piercing has ever had that experience. Some of the behaviours didn't seem real. Maybe I am looking for things where they aren't but my gut instinct watching that day was that something didn't sit right about it. I still don't know what it is, but it's just my view. Something smells fishy about it.

The second one definitely seems more suspect. The fact that JD Vance also admitted to making up stories doesn't go far in helping their cause either.

It's not a good look for the campaign if people are genuinely questioning whether he's making up assassination attempts. It's worrying for the future of American politics if things continue in this vein. I hope integrity and honesty is restored quickly.

sunflowersngunpowdr · 18/09/2024 09:02

The whole worlds a stage

Teddleshon · 18/09/2024 09:26

@SuePreemly perhaps you'd like to elaborate on what was "off" with the first assassination attempt considering there is clear footage of the actual bullets being fired across the stage, one person was killed and others injured.

It's an interesting glimpse into the mind of the conspiracy theorist that somehow it's a bad look for American democracy because people sitting in an armchair thousands of miles away airily dismiss actual footage, audio recordings and eye witness accounts.

HashtagShitShop · 18/09/2024 09:29

I don't know how true it is as obv it's from social media but allegedly Trump sent out an email within an hour of the most recent one with information that he was fine and asking for donations

Anothernamechane · 18/09/2024 09:33

I find it very strange that his ear cartilage, which is an area that takes a long time to heal, was ripped open by a bullet then looked totally normal a week later.
However I’m also not really a conspiracy theorist and feel extremely dubious that they’d stage an attempt on his life that would end with two people dead and others injured. What I AM thinking though is that he’s really struggling to find his feet since Kamala became the candidate and the second attempt might be fake, in an effort to regain that post assassination bump he received last time

Efacsen · 18/09/2024 09:41

I find it very strange that his ear cartilage, which is an area that takes a long time to heal, was ripped open by a bullet then looked totally normal a week later

But there's no evidence of this - Trump refused to release his confidential medical report

The skin of face and ears are well supplied with blood so a tiny nick in the skin would bleed without any damage to cartilage - plus a little bit of blood [any fluid] goes a long way

.

I think trump and the way he behaves is often what leads to doubts. I mean after the first shooting he was doing fist pumps as he was being taken out, that’s not normal for someone who has had an attempt on their life, where there could be more out there.

And even if it wasn’t set up, I think that anyone who thinks trump isn’t capable of doing something like that is naive.
he is deranged. And will stop at nothing.

Fluufer · 18/09/2024 10:16

I don't think it's helpful to dismiss these thoughts as loony conspiracy theorists. A degree of scepticism is sensible IMO. It wouldn't be the first time in the world or in history that something like this has been staged.
Personally I would not be surprised if it was staged. Nor would I be surprised if 2 people did really want to kill him (tbh, I'm surprised it's only 2).

Perhaps you'd like to reread my post, where I say I can't put my finger on that it is that feels off.

I don't doubt there was real bullets
I hate someone got killed and others hurt

It's my own personal view that it just doesn't feel "right" to me.

What a sad state of affairs that a man has lied so often and with such recklessness that others question everything around him so much. It is a situation of his own making, so people questioning everything around him is a natural consequence of his inability to tell the truth.
