I dunno I genuinely think Trump is either unhinged enough or stupid enough to set up two association attempts in order to try win the election ? Anyone else ?

Why would the CIA/secret service be helping Trump get elected by helping stage an assassination? He isn't currently the President, he can't order the secret services to do shit. Unless secretly they all really really want Trump to be President because of [insert long, complicated plot] and Trump is also willing to trust them (despite publicly railing against the deep state) as part of [long complicated plot] and they all decided the best way to get Trump to victory is by an elaborate hoax assasination attempt with multiple working parts that could go wrong. But for some reason, despite having the resources available for this elaborate plot, they couldn't do something easier like spike Harris's coffee to make her look drunk or spike JD Vance so he sleeps out the important bits of the campaign Nope, it has to be the elaborate assassination plot.

I don't like Trump particularly, but it feels in poor taste to spread groundless conspiracies about a murder attempt.

biscuitandcake · 16/09/2024 21:09

Also, if the US Secret Services did try any shenanigans, they would almost certainly get drunk and mess it up, or at least one of them would drunkenly blurt the whole thing out to a Brazilian prostitute.

Zanatdy · 16/09/2024 21:10

No. I really don’t. The first guy. Who is going to agree to get their head blown off in a set up? Plus Trump really could have been killed if he didn’t move right as the gun fired. No-one could set that up so the bullet grazed him. The guy yesterday. You think he agreed to go to prison for years for that? Trumps a head case, but no, I can’t think for one minute he set them up.

MushMonster · 17/09/2024 06:45

It is not set up, but how extended this idea is another red flag. How deranged all this is, since the Capitol and now these elections. It is like sitting on a pile of dynamite.
If the Secret services wanted to kill Trump, he would have a heart attack, or a car/ plane accident, die on a fire or something like that. Shooting leaves clues behind. Not their style, they are trained much better than that. But the media and long list of aggressive haters of Trump are fuelling this disgrace. Plus the incompetency! This guy jumped the fence in, ok, bad enough. But then he jumped back out and managed to run away, after the agent had shot; after a shot had been heard on the grounds! A random guy managed to get out of the place over the fence. That is not top performance on security, not even managing a sealed perimeter! And they caught the guy thanks to the casual witness that gave his description and number plate, otherwise he may have walked free.
Trump should give up on improntu trips anywhere and keep his whereabouts secret (bar the rallies he needs to attend) and restricted to easy to defend ones from now onwards.

Bigfuckoffmarrow · 17/09/2024 06:51

If only we had scrutinised our own lying, populist leaders here in the UK as much as we had Trump we'd be in a much better position now.

First attempt = possible, 2nd = probably.

Momtotwokids · 16/09/2024 12:57

You people are crazy. I dislike Trump but the Democrats hate him enough to rile people up to kill him.

I don't think the Democrats need to do anything. Trump does a great job at making people hate him himself.

I'm really baffled that women actually vote for him. My mum is quite easily manipulated with her religion and although she doesn't like Trump, thinks he is necessary to 'upset the apple cart'. His attitude to women didn't really cross her mind (she's quite feminist). I just think people don't think deeply about politics enough and people's agendas. But they don't have time, and politics isseeped with bullshit now and nobody tells the truth, so hardly surprising.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 17/09/2024 12:54

@MushMonster - I think Trump is completely incapable of staying out of the public eye - he has too much hubris and vainglory. And I doubt he has the common sense to listen to any security advisors who might give him the same advice you have outlined.

DoTheDinosaurStomp · 17/09/2024 14:29

Sparklywhiteteeth · 16/09/2024 09:48

Of course not. A man died. Another man is about to be jailed. You’d need to be a proper proper deluded person to think trump is having the fbi kill people to win the election

Exactly. People love to throw all kinds of nonsense around about him though. I think we need to remember that we're not America and leave these daft conspiracy theories to them.

You are right on that indeed.
But they need to lock him up!
I do not want to find out what happens if anyone manages to actually shoot this guy.....

I don't like Trump particularly, but it feels in poor taste to spread groundless conspiracies about a murder attempt.

The reason I brought up the CIA was not to suggest they have anything to do with arranging or attempting an assassination of Trump, but to emphasise that the US State, in the form of the CIA, has a long-standing history of acting wholly outside all International Law in order to further its own agenda. The CIA also has a history of doing exactly what the CIA wants, and that doesn't always marry with the stated aims of US policy.

People make the mistake of thinking that the more developed and more economically powerful a State or society is, the more civilised it becomes, and they leave the tools of brutality and brute force behind as their soft power grows. The Stalin era Soviet Union's disregard for law and procedure is well understood, it continues in Russia to this day with show-trials of political opponents of Putin, State-sponsored murder dressed up as "accidents" and so on. The US is portrayed as squeaky clean by comparison, but in reality that's only because the CIA acts wholly independently of Federal Government, is not answerable to Federal Government, and therefore anything it does is never laid at the door of US Federal Government.

You are incredibly naive if you honestly believe powerful people and organisations in the US are above using tools like assassination to achieve an end, or wouldn't consider staging entirely fake operations that harm people they consider superfluous and irrelevant if it furthers their own goals. The point I'm making, is I'm not claiming any particular organisation or even Trump himself definitely set up the Pennsylvania attempt, merely that it's naive in the extreme to discount any such possibility because the US is a "civilised" country and beyond such things, and especially since bystanders were killed or injured. It's nothing of the sort, and as I said originally, it's one of the very worst offenders on the planet for using underhandedness to further its agenda. It's part of US culture to operate in this way, so faking an assassination is not anything remotely strange.

Oh, and even the current President does not "order the CIA to do things". That is not how the CIA works.

Whenwillitgetwarm · 17/09/2024 21:22

I’ve been very quiet on this IRL because I usually laugh at conspiracy theorists but it does seem fishy.

What does his ear look like? If an assault rifle bullet did hit it, wouldn’t part of it be missing? How did someone manage to get into Maralago with a massive assault rifle?

And the shooters were both Republicans?

Its just all so odd.

Bangwam1 · 17/09/2024 21:30

Agreed. The whole thing felt theatrical, including the fist in the air pic.

Then Biden steps down shortly after which was interesting timing (maybe the democrats saw the perfect opportunity to get rid and save this election)

Yes. People have been comparing him to Hitler saying he’s as bad etc. If that were the case surely anyone who succeeded in killing him would be a hero? So I’m not surprised some mentally disturbed individuals have taken that to heart.

Unfortunately it’s highly likely they won’t be the last especially when normally rational people indulge in this nonsense.

I guess it proves the right don’t have the monopoly on conspiracy theories! Quite terrifying they so many of you apparently walk among us though.

Yes coincidentally he moved at exactly the right moment to avoid being shot. OR he was never shot. Shots were fired but never at him.

People shoot up schools there on a weekly basis, probably not too difficult to groom someone on the internet to think they will die a martyr for shooting trump. The gun probably had blanks or a crooked sight or something.

notanotherusername2024 · 18/09/2024 00:19

Once again, a husband and father was slaughtered and others were injured at the attempted assassination of Trump.

Violent event denial is pretty disgusting and deranged.

well that was some planning for Donald to know the exact split second to move.

AgentJohnson · 18/09/2024 07:16

Do people think this man or his supporters are smart enough to execute a fake assassination? The idiots who planned his attacks have only emboldened him, which I believe was unintended.

Don't succumb to conspiracy theories.

AnywhereAnyoneAnyTime · 18/09/2024 07:19

The first one was definitely a publicity stunt IMO. Trump absolutely is not beyond having people killed to further his agenda.

The second one was IMO a deranged nut job.

Whenwillitgetwarm · 18/09/2024 07:21

I’m so ashamed to be doubting what has happened as logically I know that’s crazy. However, everything around him and his team including his VP is so crazy I just don’t know what’s real and what isn’t anymore.

I just want the election to be over and him and his Hollywood style horror show of a campaign to be consigned to history before he drives me irreversibly insane.

Not to mention the father/husband who was slaughtered and the others who were wounded.

This thread is nothing but deranged violent event denial, started by a tinfoil hat wearing lunatic.

I think you're deranged if you think it's outside the realms of possibility. Trump has shown us all who he is, a man of morals and integrity he is not.

His own VP compared him to Hitler! He’s not a true ally. Trump is a vain and greedy useful idiot for very bad people. I do believe Peter Theil and Elon Musk are hoping Vance quickly becomes president so they can usher in Gilead.
