Will Huw get a worse/lighter sentencing today because of his fame?

YABU ... Worse sentence
YANBU ... Lighter setence

Oops, with that, you would never get over it.

Try googling abuse images vicar/abuse images doctor/abuse images teacher et etc if you want to feel completely depressed about the state of men

I think it’s wise not to Google any of those terms, for many reasons.

No, I won’t stop being repulsed by child sex offenders. The sentencing guidelines are wrong. The whole system is wrong. victims get the message that what’s happened to them isn’t that serious. Do you know any 7 year olds? Can you even imagine them being raped on demand and it being filmed for other scum to masturbate to? Do you understand what these images are?

This is just so sad and so shocking. I cannot believe there is space on the internet where things like this exist. Internet company bosses should be imprisoned if they fail to police what is happening on the apps they create. It is just so awful and incomprehensible. Those poor children.

PandoraSox · 16/09/2024 13:28

That is a cheap snd nasty shot and not what Blossomtoes said. She said he was sentenced within the guidelines. Which is the case, whether we like it or not.

They also said

Oh do stop it. These posts are completely over the top

So they don't agree with everyone's anger. I think it's fair to ask would they feel the same way if the naked children enjoyed were of their child.

Fizbosshoes · 16/09/2024 13:34

The way it was reported, he received the pictures over a period of time and then paid large amounts of cash and gave expensive gifts to the sender.
I thought it potentially seemed like blackmail, but that might have been just the way it was phrased.

OrwellianTimes · 16/09/2024 13:36

YellowphantGrey · 16/09/2024 13:21

And they say its difficult being a white man with money.

My heart bleeds.

Wheresthebeach · 16/09/2024 13:24

What the hell is wrong with our judicial system. Sex crimea are simply not punished properly. It’s almost like the sentencing guidelines were written by men of a certain..predilection

Made me wonder if there was cash involved. Or if the criminal and the magistrate are members of the same 'club'. But apparently the magistrate decided that this case wasn't serious enough to be referred to a Crown court, and the sentence is indeed within the sentencing guidelines (as per Radio 4 news).

Gettingbysomehow · 16/09/2024 13:01

What a piece of SHIT yet the same system gives single mums a prison sentence for not having a tv licence. It's a bloody joke.

Exactly. Our legal system is always about the money, not about protecting the vulnerable by punishing the predators.

AutumnCrow · 16/09/2024 13:38

There is no deterrent in that sentencing whatsoever.

This is an important point from @Anjo2011.

Custodial sentences in England & Wales are designed along three interlocking principles: punishment, deterrence, and rehabilitation. Not 'just' rehabilitation.

He gave them in exchange for the pictures and videos. He also said that it's hard to determine age after asking for underage pictures.

I don't know many 7 year olds that pass for 16 or 13 year olds for that matter.

MissMoneyFairy · 16/09/2024 13:39

Absolute joke, the sentencing laws need urgent review. His career is over but guess he has enough money to live a comfortable life.

Findmebythesea1 · 16/09/2024 13:40

The laws really have to change around this, I know people will same ‘there is no room in prisons’ but how can we let these children down so fucking badly?

They have their lives ruined by abuse, they have the humiliation of it plastered on the internet for any sick fuck to look at & then when they are caught they slap them on the wrist, give them a fine (like that’s going to effect Edwards) & say be a good boy for 2 years.

THIS IS SO WRONG.

ExquisiteEmelda · 16/09/2024 13:40

I’m absolutely not defending him but it’s not as simple as locking them all up. And capital punishment isn’t an option.

Why isn’t capital punishment an option? Genuine question.
Ok not the ones who are looking at the images, they can have a long sentence but the ones making the images? The ones abusing and ruining the lives of countless children why can’t they be put down?

BIossomtoes · 16/09/2024 13:40

Fairyliz · 16/09/2024 13:19

So if it had been your child who had been raped for his gratification you would be saying ‘great he got the right sentence’?

I didn’t express an opinion. I stated a fact.

Gloriia · 16/09/2024 13:42

Pathetic. People getting sent to prison for social media posts and he waltzes free chatting away to the people walking to the car with him.

What an arrogant man.

Erm, because we live in a country which legally doesn’t allow it.

AutumnLeaves1990 · 16/09/2024 08:53

Hope he gets maximum sentence and doesn't play the "Woe is me" sympathy card again 😡

Hmmmmm. Looks like he did use the woe is me. Everyone else to blame.

You really don't know why the UK can't just start exterminating people? However abhorrent we might consider their offences, capital punishment isn't an option.

coxesorangepippin · 16/09/2024 13:43

6 months suspended???

What the hell???

ExquisiteEmelda · 16/09/2024 13:43

It’s not.

Emily1583 · 16/09/2024 13:43

Utterly predictable slap on the wrist sentence.

Gr8bolsoffyre · 16/09/2024 13:44

ExquisiteEmelda · 16/09/2024 13:43

Start a petition.
Maybe do some reading up on the history of capitol punishment and reasons for and against first though.

Luddite26 · 16/09/2024 13:45

Apparently forgot asking for the images, viewing them etc. very convenient.

Gloriia · 16/09/2024 13:45

How did that minister's wife serve time for accepting his driving offence when he was driving? What on earth is wrong with our judiciary system that minor offences get a custodial sentence yet poor old Huw gets away with it?!
