How did that minister's wife serve time for accepting his driving offence when he was driving? What on earth is wrong with our judiciary system that minor offences get a custodial sentence yet poor old Huw gets away with it?! Perverting the course of justice is not a minor crime. Making the justice system work, making it so the offender stands trial and can’t get anyone to stand in for them, underpins the whole justice system. If the justice system fails, paedophiles, murderers etc will not get their just desserts.

If he'd pleaded not guilty then he'd have had a full trial in the glare of even more publicity and horrible detail, and then have been found guilty and got a longer sentence.

He's not a stupid man.
He opened a number of paedophilic images.
He sent money and gifts to the person who sent him the images.
These are not naughty images, these are paedophilic images.

The man he was in contact with who supplied him with the pictures he requested, sent the first image December 2020

Huw Edwards was in a sexual relationship with this person for two years prior to that and until 2022. A period of 4 years. Through the two year period of sending these images, there were 377 images sent 44 pictures/videos were illegal (underage children)

Huw asked for more pictures of young children but legal age. The supplier of the pictures said “Is the stuff I’m sending too young for you?” Huw said "don't send underage" he then offered more videos and images and said they involve young and Huw replied "go This was the second of two videos featuring a child aged between seven and nine. Huw replied "amazing"

The pictures were not randomly sent to him and he didn't accidently open them. He enjoyed viewing them and requested more.

His mental health issues have been identified as low self esteem and depression and confusion about his sexuality.

I think it's possible he never sought it out but thought if he pled guilty to basically clicking on them we would understand. He seemed to be in a relationship with the person that sent them
