So he has a cold.
Took a Covid test and it was clear
He is sneezing and feeling sorry for himself.
We were meant to go away today
Last night he said "can we set off later tomorrow " I said yes
Then this morning he said he doesn't want to go at all
So now he is playing on the computer upstairs
I'm honestly fuming
I've lost the train fare £70
Luckily hotel was pay on arrival so I can cancel

Aibu to be annoyed ?

I was a bit annoyed
And yes I was being selfish
Now I'm over it
I wouldn't like to walk around York with a cold either ...but in that moment I was disappointed and a bit annoyed
In day to day life I'm a nice person
I do everything for him
Cook /clean /washing and yet he's now spilling for an argument because he has a cold.
He asked me to get to the chemist for cough medicine -I told him we had some
He thinks of something he needs so I have to go to this particular chemist

It doesn't sound like you have a great relationship. You sulked because he's ill and guilt tripped him into giving you money etc, now he's being a dick trying to make you ill.

Seaside3 · 15/09/2024 13:34

You're both making a meal of it.

Either be his nurse and look after him, or stay out of the way and stop provoking him.

You're clearly hanging around him, so you're likely to get his cold, whether he puts his head on your pillow or not.

If you're that determined not to get his minor cold, stay away until it passes. Or, as you say, it's nothing major, so what you worried about?

Either way, you both sound like you need to grow up.

GladBluePigeon · 15/09/2024 13:34

railingsdown · 15/09/2024 13:26

He doesn't have a cough but he is still spluttering about
He has a cold -that's it
A cold
No chest infection
He's not dying
He's got a simple coat
He's making a meal of it and determined to give it to me
Simple as that

Why is he trying to get you out of the house?

redskydarknight · 15/09/2024 13:35

Well, I agree he shouldn't be trying to spread the cold.

But ... if it's a small minor thing that shouldn't have stopped him going away this weekend, then surely it's not a particular bother if OP catches it?

Seaside3 · 15/09/2024 13:35

@GladBluePigeon I would imagine he wants some peace.

Apolloneuro · 15/09/2024 12:58

You two seem to be spoiling for a fight with each other?

exactly

butterpuffed · 15/09/2024 13:39

OP , you two sound the same as each other . You were "fuming" when you couldn't go, then cheered up when he gave you £100 to spend and promised next weekend . Now he's moaning and you're not happy again !!!

Can I just quickly ask if I'm being unreasonable here
He is literally doing everything possible for me to catch it
Coughing without covering his mouth
Lying on my pillow
I asked him why he wasn't just on his pillow and he smirked
Asking for cuddles (he never wants them ) and says well your gonna catch it anyway
Then asks me for kisses

I do think this wouldnt have been possible if you were in York. Again why do his wants/feelings trump yours?

DearGoldFish · 15/09/2024 13:41

what a way to spend such a bonus lovely and sunny weekend as these two

Clarabell77 · 15/09/2024 13:44

I wouldn’t want to go if I had a cold and I wouldn’t want to go with someone who has a cold.

YABU.

Ceebs85 · 15/09/2024 13:44

I love my own company so I'd be delighted to be going on my own 😂😁

Mintgum · 15/09/2024 13:45

My friends 20 year old son as a awful cold poor lad walking around with tissue up his nose.
He works night in a club but has took the pass 3 nights off his boss told him to take a week off.
The boss had it first.
But for the sounds off it men are selfish to get sick and are not allowed to be unwell and want to stay home.
If a women is unwell thats a different story she has to be treated like a queen.

This is not normal behaviour. Maybe he’s trying to give to you so you’ll be ill next weekend and the shoe will be on the other foot. Whatever the reason, he is being a bit of a twat by doing this.

Asshole. That's so rude. You ought to go away for a couple of days if you can.

Jacopo · 15/09/2024 14:07

OP please join the 21st century. You are acting like a 1950s housewife, doing everything for him. When you were annoyed with him you let yourself be bought off with an extravagant gift.
You say you can’t enjoy being in a place like York on your own. Statistically you will eventually be on your own so learn to like it, and do things by yourself.
Get some self respect and act like a liberated, independent adult.
Tell him to stop coughing all over you, for a start.
Sometimes it’s like feminism never actually happened.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 15/09/2024 14:20

Ok now he's being a twat.

Coughing and smirking at you is foul.

Honestly I'd go to the hotel after that even if I just stayed in the fucking room all day and didn't enjoy myself.

Waffle78 · 15/09/2024 14:20

Get him some NeilMed sinus rince. They're really good getting rid of the snott and stops the mucus dripping down your throat and causing an irritating cough.

railingsdown · 15/09/2024 14:35

I wish I had gone now
Made him some mash with gravy
Took it up

Why have you made that ?
I don't want anything off you ?

Because I wouldn't kiss him and told him to not cough on my pillow
That's it
He said he will look after himself
Literally this morning I made him a cup of tea In bed and a lemsip

I always find it interesting on threads like these where reaction to the initial OP is that they were being unreasonable

There always seems to then be an update casting the other party as the villain of the piece and lo and behold the tide turns.

OP, take the money and go out shopping. Leave him blustering in an empty house

HeliotropePJs · 15/09/2024 14:41

Sorry, but I wouldn't want to pay to go somewhere when I knew I'd feel miserable the whole time, and I don't see much point in powering through something that's meant to be a treat. Something important and unavoidable, yes, but not something optional that is supposed to be a good time. I'd much rather have the comforts of home, anyway, when I have a cold.

He should've just told you from the start that he wasn't feeling up to it, but maybe he thought he'd feel better the next day. I'd have cancelled as soon as I realised I had a cold!

HeliotropePJs · 15/09/2024 14:44

Didn't bother to read the updates before. If he's the type to intentionally try to give you his cold, why were you wanting to go away with him to begin with? 🤔

JustWalkingTheDogs · 15/09/2024 14:48

Do exactly as he asks.

Mumoftwo2022 · 15/09/2024 17:03

How old are you guys. Sounds like some growing up is needed.

LuckySantangelo35 · 15/09/2024 17:06

JustWalkingTheDogs · 15/09/2024 14:48

@JustWalkingTheDogs

really?

fuck that.

JustWalkingTheDogs · 15/09/2024 17:11

@LuckySantangelo35 he told op that he'd look after himself, I'd take him at his word and leave him to it. No more lemsip and tea in the morning, no more cooking him dinner etc. he wants to look after himself, let him do that!
